On our last trip to Barcelona, we stayed in Holiday Inn Express Barcelona Molins de Rei. It's a bit outside the city center but it only takes 30 minutes by R train line. You can get a metro pass in Barcelona and travel to the city center easily. The hotel is only 10 minutes walking from Molins de Rei train station. Holiday Inn Express offers much more value than expensive hotels in Barcelona city center. Plus, the breakfast is included in the room price, which is a blessing in Europe. We really searched where to stay in Barcelona and this was a catch! You can also accumulate points in your IHG account, too. In this video, we made a brief but detailed hotel tour of Holiday Inn Express Barcelona in Molins De Rei.

Este Hotel 2 estrellas fue pensado para hospedar visitantes que requieren atención personalizada. D: Ein 3-Bett Zimmer für eine Woche gebucht. Vorteil Nr. 1 waren die kostenlosen, eingezäunten Parkplätze. Wer BCN kennt, weiß, dass das Parken dort sehr teuer, wenn nicht unmöglich ist. Standort ist ca. 14 km außerhalb der Stadt wobei man den Bahnhof in ca. 8 Min. erreicht und die Fahrt zum Plaza Catalunya (City) ca. 20 Min. dauert.
Das #hotel liegt in einem Industrieviertel, wobei man durch den Park direkt nebenan, Geschäfte und Gastronomie fußläufig in 5 Min. + erreicht. 1 großer Supermarkt direkt daneben.
Zimmer war für 3 Personen kpl. ausgestattet und das 3. Bett schon hergerichtet. Betten durchaus komfortabel, #bad mit Wanne und Dusche ebenfalls. HI Express Standard = Schrank klein, Bett, Schreibtisch. Jedoch sauber.
Zimmeraussicht war auf einen Busbahnhof (Überwachungsscheinwerfer auf unsere Front gerichtet), nebenan eine Disco/Club (1 Tag Musikbeschallung), Fenster nur einen Spalt breit zu öffnen. Leider keine Minibar. Das waren die kleinen Unannehmlichkeiten.
Hotelempfang und anderes Personal durch die Bank sehr freundlich und bemüht. #lounge mit Getränke- und Snackautomat. Frühstück inkl.! D.h. Basics, jedoch ausreichend. Häufig sehr gut besucht durch Reisegruppen.
Resummee ist: für den Preis sehr zufriedenstellend und sehr akzeptabler Ausgangspunkt für unsere BCN Exkursionen. Außerdem im Ort gute Gastronomie und Geschäfte gefunden.

Molins de Rey (en catalán y oficialmente Molins de Rei) es un municipio de Cataluña, España perteneciente a la provincia de Barcelona, en la comarca del Bajo Llobregat. Según datos de 2012 su población era de 24.805 habitantes. Forma parte del área metropolitana de Barcelona a cuya provincia pertenece.
El topónimo Molins de Rey tiene su origen en unos antiguos molinos (en catalán, molins) reales, documentados ya en 1188. Estos molinos fueron construidos por orden de Alfonso II el Casto y fueron el origen del núcleo de población. En 1208 ya tenía iglesia parroquial y cementerio.
A lo largo de su historia, la villa pasó por diversas manos. En 1309 formaba parte del condado de Pallars ya que era posesión de la condesa Sibil•la. A su muerte, pasó a manos de Hugo de Arborea y más adelante fue cedido al convento de Santa Clara en Cerdeña. En 1366 el señorío de las tierras fue comprado por Berenguer de Relat.
En 1430 fue cedida a Galceran de Requesens i de Santacoloma quien construyó en la villa un palacio, visitado por personalidades de la época como los Reyes Católicos o Cristóbal Colón. El palacio entró en decadencia en 1564.
En 1763 se construyó un puente sobre el río Llobregat por orden del rey Carlos III. Este puente convirtió la ciudad en un punto estratégico durante la Guerra de la independencia española lo que provocó que Molins fuera incendiada en diversas ocasiones. El 7 de junio de 1808 fue incendiada y saqueada por las tropas del general Schwartz y el 30 de ese mismo mes sufrió un nuevo saqueo. Durante estos incendios se destruyeron numerosos edificios destacados, como el antiguo palacio de los Requesens.
