The Province of Huelva, in Andalucia, is one of the most beautiful places in Spain, and it is not known to many international travellers. This means you can have authentic experiences here in Huelva.
The province of Huelva is tucked in the South-west corner of Spain, and locals call it the “Secret Coast”. Huelva is home to beautiful national parks, wide sandy beaches and historic sites. Here was the starting point for the journeys of Christopher Columbus.
In this video, I travel to Huelva and El Rocio, one of the most unique villages in Spain and also visit the Wharf of the Caravels, a floating museum in Palos de la Frontera, this was the place where Columbus began his journey to the Americas.

Located 80 kms. From Seville Moguer is a little town with neolithic origins as well as a past relationship with Phoenicians, Romans and Moors. Among the tourist interest buildings you can see the Santa Clara Monastery ( ) definitely worth a vist the Nuestra Señora de Granada church and the City Hall, which is quite enchanting with its moorish style arches. But the pride and joy of the Moguereños is that their town is the birth place of the 1956 Literature Nobel Prize winner, Juan Ramón Jiménez whom they remember as a universal poet. The American connection of the convent of San Francisco begins at the end of the 15th century, reaching its full development in the following two centuries. Numerous Catholic priests came from the convent of San Francisco, and were sent to evangelize the new world, to the Spanish island, México, Michoacán, Yucatán, Florida, Tucumán and Perú. They stand out among them: Fray Andrés de Moguer, Dominican religious who stood out for being the first chronicler of the work of the friars of Santo Domingo in the viceroyalty of New Spain; and Fray Antonio de Olivares, a native of Moguer, who left for New Galicia in 1663 at the age of 35. He owes the foundation of what is now the city of San Antonio in Texas, in the United States. On many occasions the convent received alms from the hands of those Moguereños who sought divine protection before embarking for the New World.

The Monastery of Santa María de las Cuevas, also known as the Monastery of the Cartuja, is a religious building on the Isla de La Cartuja in Seville, southern Spain. The Andalusian Contemporary Art Center is now located on this site.
Christopher Columbus' remains were first interred at Valladolid, then at the Monastery of the Cartuja by the will of his son Diego. In 1542 the remains were transferred to Colonial Santo Domingo. During the Napoleonic invasion, the monastery was sacked and used as barracks. After returning in 1812, the monastery was finally vacated with the general closure of monasteries in 1835–36 (Desamortización de Mendizábal).
In 1964, the monastery was declared a national monument, and now is owned by the government of Andalusia, which create a new institution called Monumental Ensemble of the Monastery of Santa María de las Cuevas. Restorations were made for the Seville Expo '92, directed by Bartolomé Ruiz González, the first and only one director of the Monumental Ensemble from 1989 to 1994. In 1997, the older part of the monastery became the site of a museum of contemporary art, the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC).
