Norwood is a town and census-designated place in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. Norwood is part of the Greater Boston area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 31,611. The town was named after Norwood, England. Norwood is on the Neponset River, which runs all the way to Boston Harbor from Foxborough.

The Town of Norwood, officially formed in 1872, was until that time part of Dedham, known as the mother of towns, as fourteen of the present communities of eastern Massachusetts lay within its original borders. Long used as a hunting ground by Native Americans, Norwood was first settled by Ezra Morse in 1678. He set up a sawmill in what is now South Norwood, the part of town to which the first concentration of families, almost all of whom were farmers, migrated over the next half-century.

During the American Revolution, there was a Minuteman company organized in the area. Its captain, Aaron Guild, on learning of the British marching on Lexington and Concord to seize the munitions stored there, rode to join the fight and arrived in time to fire on the British at Concord Bridge and participate in the running battle that chased the Redcoats back to Boston.

Abraham Lincoln passed through the town during his pre-inaugural tour of New England.

The Oak View Mansion, located in Norwood, was built by Francis Olney Winslow. Construction began in 1868 and was completed in 1870. Oak View was the scene of almost constant socializing. Some of the most prominent figures hosted in Oak View were President and future Supreme Court Justice William Howard Taft and President Calvin Coolidge.

The town shares its name with a town in the borough of Croydon, South London, England. When Norwood separated from Dedham, they considered naming the new community Balch, after the Rev. Thomas Balch.

idle air for truck drivers

there are a lot of places that have idle air but a lot of them are not up and running and some are the good way to see if they are working is if the pipping is down from the top

OBIDOS, PORTUGAL - WALLED CITY (Van Life Portugal) ????????

A short drive from Peniche is Obidos - where you will find one of the finest examples of a Portuguese walled town.
Due to it's proximity to Lisbon, Obidos is fast becoming one of the most popular tourist day trip destinations of the region and can fluctuate between busy and empty in a single day. The ancient town walls encircling the historic centre of Obidos remain surprisingly intact. and the top of these walls can be walked providing a scenic and peaceful way to see the town from above.

Considering the consistent foul weather we had our hopes up for Nazaré - the setting for some of the world’s largest waves, which in winter can reach over 30m. Powerful Atlantic Ocean waves are channelled through the Nazaré Canyon - Europe’s largest underwater canyon - to create massive waves taller than buildings. In the winter, fearless surfers come to surf these mammoth waves, with events attracting over 100,000 spectators.

After leaving Nazare the heavens opened - again - and we just kept driving north until we found the summer resort town of Praia da Vieira which is nestled between the river Lis and the ancient pine forest of Pinhal de Leiria. To the south of the town the beach stretches off for several kilometres with a backdrop of low sand dunes and pine forest. It's still home to a traditional population of fishermen, who are dedicated to their daily tasks of going out to sea early in each morning.

Although we were hoping to visit Figueira da Foz the relentless rain forced us further north to the gorgeous Praia da Costa Nova - just south of Aveiro. The most picturesque aspect of Costa Nova is its coastal road along which a line of wooden huts is painted in brightly coloured stripes alternating with white. Originally built by fishermen as shelters and equipment stores, the huts have now been converted into rather characteristic holiday homes.

Loire Valley with Veronique Savoye

Enjoy our live Monday Night Travel party with this video recorded on April 3, 2023.

Awe-inspiring castles and palaces are scattered all over Europe. But no place is as renowned for its palaces as here — a region synonymous with châteaux: the Loire Valley of France. With Loire-based guide Veronique Savoye at our side, we visit sundry stunning castles: elegant Chenonceau, massive Chambord, stately Cheverny, and fragrant Villandry. As we crisscross the French countryside, we also stop by Leonardo's home, savor a princely garden, sip Kir royales, and spread goat cheese on whatever we can! #RickSteves #MondayNightTravel

Exploring COSTA BRAVA in our Motorhome

Bumbling. Meandering. Wandering. Failing. Succeeding. All part of the experience of full-time motorhome living. We find ourselves in the Penedes, the epicenter of cava production where we educate ourselves (and taste lots of cava) before we make our way towards the glorious Costa Brava region. The beautiful Tossa De Mar is just one of the highlights of this week.

trip planning for truck drivers

There is a lot of ways to plan out your trip. so you have to see what works for you. the most important thing is that when you load picks up and delivers to the customer. I will say this that it also depends on the shipper getting you out on time and depends on how your hours of service.

Medfield Rail Trail August 2022 end-to-end real-time.

Map:

This video covers just the trail portion of the ride. I've also released a highspeed preview version showing an exploration of the surrounding area.

New trail! This video was requested by a local trail advocate who let me know about it. This will be part of the Bay Colony Trail. It is currently open and in use while developing with a ribbon cutting scheduled for early October. .

NEVC on Facebook:

Tech: GoPro 9 handlebar mounted.
Normally I keep it plugged in so I don't have to change the battery. There's different ways of doing that, but I just hang one of these on the cables and plug in:
In order to do that though you'll have to switch out the battery door with one of these:
I have a different mounting bracket on each bike. This one is fine:
If you want to keep drop bars out of the shot though you might also want one of these:
You'll notice that none of these components are plastic. I've had plastic break and seen cameras go rolling down the street on me. The footage didn't come out very well.

Edited using the Power Director app on a Samsung 10e phone. Here's the PC version:

If there's music in the video it's from YouTube's royalty-free collection.

The bike used on this ride was a 2002 Marin Larkspur purchased I think in 2018 from U-Mass Lowell.

Preview videos are 8x natural speed and are released as soon as they're ready. At this time normal speed versions and what not are released two sets a week (Monday-Wednesday and Thursday through Saturday).

If you are working on developing a rail trail or similar bike path in your area and you think I might be able to help out let me know.
