Fort Santa Cruz
One of Oran Algeria’s tourist attractions is the Fort Santa Cruz. This is a historical site that you can visit as you walk around the city. The Ottomans and Spaniards built it in the 17th century.
It overlooks the city with an amazing view. You can see the Mediterranean and the Mers El Kebir port. To get there it’s a bit of a hike but it is worth the exercise. You will also get some peace and quiet.
If you want to have a rest so you can take some coffe with you to La belle vue.
Oran is known by the Hammam there you can have an relax time and get some massage.
If travelling through time is something that you have always wanted to do, one of Oran, Algeria’s tourist attractions, is the Sidi el Houari: This is one of the oldest areas in Oran. It is the first area to be built up. As you walk down the street you are transported back in time. You will find some fish restaurants, don´t miss this.

British attack on the French Fleet
The attack on Mers-el-Kébir (Battle of Mers-el-Kébir) on 3 July 1940, during the Second World War, was a British naval attack on neutral French Navy ships at the naval base at Mers El Kébir, near Oran, on the coast of French Algeria. The attack was the main part of Operation Catapult, a British plan to neutralise or destroy neutral French ships to prevent them from falling into German hands after the Allied defeat in the Battle of France. The British bombardment of the base killed 1,297 French servicemen, sank a battleship and damaged five other ships, for a British loss of five aircraft shot

Pour ceux qui connaissent ce pays, ils savent ô combien il est beau et qu'il nous cache bien des merveilles. Pour les autres, ils en ont certainement entendu parler ; certainement, mais en mal.
Il est facile de stigmatiser un peuple et de l'affilier à des images bien précises, cela conforte probablement les convictions de certains qui ne regardent que leur réalité mais il est tout aussi facile de vendre du rêve et de laisser les gens songeurs.

The three forts are connected by tunnels. Fort Santa Cruz was built between 1577 and 1604 by the Spaniards on the Pic d’Aidour above Gulf of Oran in the Mediterranean Sea, at an elevation of above 400 metres (1,312 ft). In 1831, the French occupied Oran and the fort.
A small chapel, known as the Chapel of Santa Cruz, stands close to the fort. This chapel has been refurbished with a tower, which has a huge statue of the Virgin Mary, said to be a replica of that at Notre-Dame de la Garde in Marseilles, styled as Notre-Dame du Salut de Santa Cruz.
The fort is located at a height of about 400 metres (1,300 ft) on Mount Murdjadjo [fr], also known as Pic d’Aidour, from where there are views of Mers-el-Kebir, the strategic military port of Oran. Beneath the castle, on the hill slope, is the chapel of the Blessed Virgin, which is a Catholic pilgrimage site.
قلعة سانتا كروز توجد في مدينة وهران والتي بنيت من قبل الإسبان من عام 1577 -1604. وكانت هذه القلعة حصنا يستعمل لمراقبة ميناء وساحل مدينة وهران . تقع هذه القلعة على أعلى قمة من جبل المرجاجو الواسع النطاق. وقد ساعد موقعها الاستراتيجي في الحفاظ على شكلها سليما رغم السنين.
تقف كنيسة صغيرة، تعرف باسم كنيسة سانتا كروز، بالقرب من القلعة. تم تجديد هذه الكنيسة الصغيرة ببرج، يحتوي على تمثال ضخم للسيدة مريم العذراء، يُقال إنه نسخة طبق الأصل للتمثال في كاتدرائية نوتردام دي لا غارد في مرسيليا.
