Nebraska Ghost Towns Part 4 // Sparks, Meadville, Brocksburg
This week we are back in Nebraska cruising along the northern border near South Dakota. Highway 12, also known as the Nebraska Outlaw Scenic Byway, has a lot of great small towns along it. We start in Sparks, which still has a post office (open since 1888) and a church. It's the hub for some activity on the Niobrara River as well. Meadville is next - the old post office and general store is a great find in a beautiful area! We finish up in a true ghost town - Brocksburg - where it's just a bunch of abandoned buildings and a creepy tornado shelter. This was a lot of fun to explore these former towns!

Camping at Pymatuning SP - one of the best campgrounds in Pennsylvania.
In this episode, we travel 3 hours from home to go camping at Pymatuning State Park in Linesville, PA. We were pleasantly surprised at all the amenities the park had to offer, plus there were stunning sunsets, and great places to kayak, making it a win win in our book. This is my 4th Top-10 Smallest Towns video! Previously I've done Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. These are the most popular videos on my channel, so if you know anyone from Nebraska please share it with them to help spread the word! Nebraska was a lot of fun to explore, and all of these towns have some history to find out about. It starts with Hendley and a population of 20 and goes all the way to Monowi (population 1). The Best Pennsylvania Travel Vlog
This is the Best Pennsylvania travel vlog! There are so many fun things to do and explore in Pennsylvania. We did everything historical, cultural, and beautiful. We pick up our road trip in New Jersey at Princeton University. The most beautiful college campus we've ever seen. And then we are off to Pennsylvania.
Philadelphia had so much diverse culture and historical aspects. It was hard to do it all. We did see Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross' house and Benjamin Franklin's grave site. The Reading Terminal Market was a food market for the hungry. We ate everything from Philly Cheesesteaks to crepes. And of course we can't miss an opportunity to run up the Rocky steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
We explored the huge acreage of Longwood Gardens. It took us several hours and we still didn't see everything. It is a place we would love to explore again.
Amish country is so beautiful and feels like another time. And the baked goods are incredible. They have so many talents and I'm so grateful they share them all with the world.
Last but definitely not least, we take an audio driving tour through the battlefields of Gettysburg. We have so much respect for those that fought on that battlefield. It is a beautiful testament to their bravery.

The post office in Meadville, has been in operation since 1869. This is the first time I have driven through Meadville, Missouri. I was on my way to the Locust Creek Covered Bridge. The small town is a nice quiet place that has definitely been around awhile.

Meadville A Nebraska Ghost Town
Discover the scenic side of life at - Meadville Ghost Town We were excited to see a ghost town listed near our backroads route in north central Nebraska. Our AAA map listed it under Historic. The map showed the ghost town of Meadville located on the Niobrara River, but no road to the north; we decided to embark on a bit of a side-trip adventure anyway. We're always up for that! After a few miles of gravel road and some beautiful fall foliage, we crossed a brand new bridge -- which was a pleasant surprise since our map didn't show that detail.
About a half mile further, we located the historic ghost town. The General Store is open daily at noon. We were there mid-morning so there was no one around. Meadville's main building is the Post Office/General Store which was restored 15 years ago. There are three other buildings on the property -- a storage building, a house that appears to have been moved in, and an authentic log cabin that seems to be original to the town.
A bit disappointing, but we didn't talk to anyone about the history so perhaps there is more than meets the eye or some grand plans in the works. It did look as though we missed quite a party -- there were beer bottles and bags -- and more bags -- of beer cans. Perhaps that is their fundraising method for future improvements!
For this backroads trip, however, we have to say it was not worth the trip. The only spirits we found evidence of are those that come in a brown bottle!

Nebraska Danish Ghost Towns // Part 3 // Kronborg, Nysted, Dannevirke
My third Nebraska ghost town video hass a Danish theme! I found these three towns all very close to each other in the middle of the state. Kronborg has one of the coolest/eerie churches/cemeteries I've ever seen. Nysted is a shell of its former self, but still has some great old buildings to check out. And the final stop in Dannevirke was a pleasant surprise down a long a dusty road! Fun trip in the Cornhusker State!
