In this video, we’re taking a look at some of the best of what Atlantic City has to offer. We talk about the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk, which is probably as famous as the city itself. It’s an amazing structure, full of carnival rides, games, tasty snacks and food, bars, and everything else you could want from a Boardwalk. Not to mention it sits right on the gorgeous beaches of the Atlantic ocean. We also talk about some lesser-known attractions, such as the Boardwalk Hall convention center, home of the largest musical instrument on earth, and Lucy The Margate Elephant, which is the oldest roadside attraction in the country. We go over our pick for the top hotel and casino to visit and point out all the incredible non-gambling amenities it also offers visitors. And we give tips for some great eats on the boardwalk, like the best salt water taffy spot. Plus a great out-of-the-way waterfront spot in Garnder’s Basic, and much more. 10 Best Seaside Towns in the UK

What are the best seaside towns in the United Kingdom? New towns are developing at the seaside across the UK in addition to those ancient towns and cities. All of these towns and cities are worming their way into the hearts of tourists from home and abroad. With due respect to these towns, and out of a deep sense of duty, we want to identify which of these towns are the best so that we can help the decision-making process for those having reasons to consider seaside towns. On the basis of that, we present to you the 10 best seaside towns in the UK.
Please note that most of these best towns in the UK have at one time or the other been the best in England.
10. Swanage, Dorset, England
The tenth place we’ll consider as one the best seaside towns in the UK is Swanage in South West of England. The town has been a popular seaside resort since Victorian times. Up till now, families have continued to enjoy its calm shallow beach. This seaside is also one of the 10 best seaside resorts in the UK.
With its panoramic views, the seaside resort offers relaxing luxurious holidays in self-catering accommodation in caravans and luxury hot tub lodges. If you want to own a holiday home, they’re available here with unrivaled views across the bay. The town is about one kilometer from the leisurely beautiful Swanage Railway. Its proximity to this and other parks, beaches, and castles makes it a good choice.
9. St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Wales
Stepping out of England, we find a small city and community in Pembrokeshire known as St Davids. It is the smallest location in the whole of the United Kingdom with city status. With its stunning coastal scenery unmatched in Pembrokeshire, it’s also the smallest urban area by local authority boundary.
One of the reasons for its inclusion on this list is its ability to blend its sacred status with its National Park. St Davids has a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere as you see surf shops, outdoor adventure centers, holiday cottages, and hotels in the shadow of its cathedral.
8. Southwold, England
When this town was found in the ninth position on the list of the most popular seaside destinations, we knew that it would be among the 10 best seaside towns in the UK. Now, it is the number 8 on this list. All year round, Southwold remains a tourist attraction, thanks to its dramatic coastline and beautiful architecture. Its cozy pub lunches and walks along its beach are charming.
As you walk along its pier, you will see spectacular views as you check in and out of many independent shops. You would love the charming seaside resort of Southwold. Though it’s almost an island, its sandy beach and hut-lined promenade offer a wonderful environment for holidaymakers and weekenders.
7. Filey, North Yorkshire, England
Ironically to some, Filey which is a town in the Borough of Scarborough considered unpopular by some people is one of the 10 best seaside towns in the UK. Truly, this beautiful seaside destination in North Yorkshire deserves a slot here as one of the most popular in the UK. It used to be a fishing village before developing into a popular resort with a very large beach that is playing a remarkable role in popularizing it.
It is quieter than most of its neighbors and most of the other coastal towns. This is because it has enough accommodations, seats, and transportation. There is no need for any rush here. You can just go there and enjoy your peace.

10 Worst Seaside Resort Towns in The UK

What are the worst seaside resorts in the UK? Anyone leaving home to spend some time at a resort is going with high expectations. There are tons of things to do at seaside resorts. However, it’s not all seaside resorts that live up to their designation. Some of them could be better described as anything else but resorts. Some of these pseudo-seaside resorts are there in the UK. We hereby present to you the 10 worst seaside resorts in the UK.
After considering each of them, the choice is yours to patronize them or steer clear of them. These seaside resorts in the UK were rated based on several features that are expected in seaside resorts and they were weighted over 100 points. The following are the scores.
10. Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, England
Burnham-on-Sea is a seaside town located in Somerset, England. You would be fair to this place at the mouth of the Parrett River, upon Bridgwater Bay, if you reckon with it as a fishing village or town, for the sake of respect, that it used to be until the late 1700s when it began to grow.
While the park at Burnham-on-Sea was lovely with clean facilities and lots of activities, the resort could not score more than 48 points. The onsite pizza costs too much; you need a 10-minute walk to get a better deal. Most of the accommodation here is caravans without heating in the bedrooms. The bedding quality of the rooms is begging to be upgraded.
9. Colwyn Bay, Conwy, Wales
Colwyn Bay, a town and community in Conwy County Borough cannot escape our attention. Conwy is on the north coast of Wales where it is overlooking the Irish Sea. The town of Colwyn Bay is recognized as a seaside resort within the historic county of Denbighshire, no doubt. But what is in doubt is the quality of the resort. From what we know Colwyn Bay can’t earn more than 58 points.
Yes, the clean rooms, the security, and proximity to the North Wales Expressway, the railway station, and the beach count for something. However, the services were generally poor. The rooms are freezing without a heater and electrical fittings including plumbing were not being maintained. The food options were zero.
8. Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England
Then next is Great Yarmouth. Joining them in removing the prefix “great,” let’s comfortably join in referring to it by just Yarmouth which is more fitting than Great Yarmouth. In any case, it is recognized as a seaside resort town in Norfolk, there in England. Straddling the River Yare, it is located 30 kilometers east of Norwich.
As a seaside resort, Yarmouth ties with its more neighborly Burnham-on-Sea and Colwyn Bay in Wales to score 58. Though it has sandy beaches and two historic piers, amusement rides, and restaurants, Yarmouth as Norfolk’s flagship beach town is always crammed. Holidaymakers during the summertime suffer disorderliness here as if there are more services than the management could handle in an organized manner.
7. Morecambe, Lancashire, England
Morecambe is a town in the City of Lancaster in Lancashire, England. It’s hard to understand why Morecambe is still being referred to as a seaside resort. Up until the mid-20th century, it was a thriving seaside resort. Then it was home to the country’s largest Pontins resort.

Lucy The Elephant, Atlantic City - GoHop.ie - Unravel Travel TV

Lucy The Elephant is located along the beach in Josephine Harron Park in Margate, NJ. She is six stories high and is listed on the National Park Registry of Historical Landmarks. The park is fenced and contained, making child supervision easy. Picnic tables are on site for eating out-of-doors.The site has friendly, trained volunteers and staff to assist you during your visit. On the tour you will learn about Lucy's unique architecture and her history and you will get to climb a spiral staircase through her insides all the way up to the howdah on her back, providing a spectacular 360° view of the surrounding shore area.

Lucy the Elephant was built by real estate developer, James Lafferty, in 1881, as a gimmick to attract potential buyers to his land holdings along the coast of South Atlantic City (now Margate). Eventually, a popular hotel business was built around Lucy. Presidents and royalty came from around the world to stay at the neighboring Elephant Hotel and climb the stairs to Lucy's howdah. During her history, Lucy has survived hurricanes, ocean floods, and even a fire accidentally started by some inebriated party-goers when she served as a tavern. However, by the 1960's it became apparent there was one disaster Lucy could not overcome neglect. By that time, the once proud jewel of the South Jersey coast had become an almost hopeless, wretched wreck. Then in 1970, a developer purchased Lucy's land and intended to build a condominium building on the site. The beach and the ocean could stay - but the elephant had to go. To the rescue came the Save Lucy Committee. Within weeks, this small concerned group of ordinary citizens had raised enough money to move the entire decaying structure two blocks away to a new site owned by the city. Thirty years and over 1.5 million dollars later, Lucy was completely restored to her original splendor, inside and out. In 1976, Lucy was designated a National Historic Landmark by the United States government as the oldest surviving example of a unique form of zoomorphic architecture, and the oldest roadside attraction in America. Today, she stands as the most popular non-gaming attraction in the greater Atlantic City region. She has brought fame to Margate City and is known all over the globe as The World's Largest Elephant.

In this short video Rebeca Nesselrode, Unravel Travel TV spoke to Richard Helfant, Executive Director / CEO, Lucy The Elephant.

2019 Philadelphia Jersey Shore Trip! Atlantic City, Ocean City, Margate City, South Philly, and more

#philly #philadelphia #jerseyshore #travel #summertime #oceancity

We just uploaded several videos from Philadelphia from November/December...but did you know we BOTH went in 2019 before the world stopped in 2020?

This was Natasha's first time to Philly, the Jersey Shore, meeting Michael's family, friends, and more. We visited a really hot and humid Philadelphia and had to visit the beach 2x due to one day being a wash out. Maya even came along :). Now we filmed this well before we had a channel so there was never an intention to have a movie from this but we gave it a go! We downloaded both phone videos (different file sizes), Snapchat videos, Instagram videos, and more to make something fun out of this. This also includes live pictures where we made movies from 1-3 second photo clips.

So enjoy this video made more for our wonderful subscribers, family, and for us to look back on. There is a lot of music in this as we weren't planning on making much from this when we shot the footage. This is in 1080 or worse.

Lucy The Elephant at Margate, NJ - Complete Inside Tour - Before Lucy closes for repairs

Lucy the Elephant, a six-story elephant-shaped example of novelty architecture, was constructed of wood and tin sheeting in 1881 by James V. Lafferty in Margate City, New Jersey, about five miles south of Atlantic City.

Lucy will be getting a facelift starting on September 20. The Jersey Shore attraction will be closed for nine months during the restoration project. During that time, the six-story tall elephant will have its entire metal skin replaced.

The final tour before being closed for restoration will take place on Sunday, Sept. 19.

More than half of Lucy's skin was deteriorated beyond repair, and a study found that replacing the skin would be more cost-effective than removing the old paint and rust.

The repairs will cost $1.4 million, with much of the funding coming from a grant from the Preserve NJ Preservation Fund. Additional funds will come from donations and fundraising, and the Save Lucy Committeee has applied for a National Park Service Grant.

In July, 2021, Lucy celebrated her 140th birthday.

Originally named Elephant Bazaar, Lucy was built to promote real estate sales and attract tourists.

Today, Lucy is the oldest surviving roadside tourist attraction in America.

Lucy's howdah (carriage) offers unique views of Margate, Atlantic City's skyline, the beach, and the Atlantic Ocean and it serves as an observation deck for modern day visitors during tours.

In 1881, the U.S. Patent Office granted James V. Lafferty a patent giving him the exclusive right to make, use or sell animal-shaped buildings for a duration of seventeen years.

Lafferty funded the design and construction of his first elephant-shaped building at South Atlantic City, now called Margate.

Initially named Elephant Bazaar, the structure stands at 65 feet in height, 60 feet in length, and 18 feet in width and weighs about 90 tons.

It is listed as the 12th tallest statue in the United States. Lucy was constructed with nearly one million pieces of wood, and required 200 kegs of nails, 4 tons of bolts and iron bars; 12,000 square feet of tin covers the exterior. There are 22 windows placed throughout the structure.
