Cerro San Cristobal | Almeria | Spain | Almeria Spain | Things to Do in Almeria | Visit Spain

Cerro de San Cristobal Almeria – Andalucia – Almeria Beautiful panorama of the city of Almeria

From the Alcazaba, descend in a northward direction through the Barranco de la Hoya, a line of wall that reaches San Cristobal Hill was built during the time of King Jairán (1012-1028) in the eleventh century. Here are the remnants of the neighborhood amurallamiento musalla, which descends from the hill via the main street Antonio Vico.

On the hill, known in Muslim times as Monte Laham, there are seven towers, three square Muslim towers, and four semicircular Christian towers. These were built by the Templars of Alfonso VII, who constructed a strong chapel following the Christian conquest of the city under the command of the troops of Alfonso VII in 1147.

On this hill, which has an impressive view of the city, and is located on a large pedestal, is the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, constructed of local Macael marble. It was restored in 2000 and it is said to bless the city and the Mediterranean Sea. It was originally built in the twentieth century (around 1930).

You can visit Cerro de San Cristobal on any date at any time, it is not a closed area, but you also have the option of participating in one of the guided tours organized by the local touristic agencies.

Almeria Spain Walking Tour in September 2021 [4K]

Almeria is one of Andalusia’s hidden gems, tucked away on the southeast corner of Spain’s Mediterranean coast. With over 3000 hours of sunshine per year, less than 200 millimeters of rain and warm all year round climate, the province is a sun worshipers paradise. People visit Almeria for the tranquil atmosphere, crystal clean waters and the rugged landscapes as well off beaten private beaches surrounded by mountains.

????Turismo y viajes a Andalucía

???? Turismo y viajes a REGIÓN DE MURCIA

SORBAS - Almeria, Spain

Personal record of a walk around Sorbas, a pueblo about 40km (25miles) inland from Vera Playa or Mojacar areas.
If you have seen the never ending stream of lorries coming to and from Garrucha port, carrying their 24 ton loads of gypsum, then a few km/miles before Sorbas is where they collect it, on the right heading towards Sorbas, you can see the dust for miles.
Anyway, Sorbas is a pleasant yet quite dramatic place, the old part almost being an island with the Rio Aguas around it. From the main road looking up, houses are perched on the cliffside. There is a one way system in the pueblo due to the narrow streets it has. There is a pleasant plaza in the centre with the doughnut shaped trees for shade.
This was one stop on a day out, visiting Sorbas, Agua Amarga, Carboneras, Macenas, Mojacar Playa and back to Garrucha.
There is a dashcam video of the drive and another video of Agua Amarga and Carboneras. There are already videos of Macenas, Mojacar and Garrucha on our channel.

Mojacar & surrounding areas - 2018 - September/October. Mike & Tina have visitors

A personal film of relatives visiting us in Palomares/Vera Playa/Mojacar area of Spain, but may be of interest to others, as it shows some of the local area that we took them to on their visit here. Mojacar Pueblo & the market + the Fuente - Torre del Pirulico the tower near Macenas beach - el Picacho, the mountain behind Mojacar with the masts - Aguilas with fountain in the square + Playa Hornillo with tiled steps etc - Villaricos & it's market - San Juan de los Terreros & the castle. Win' by the way is currently 96 years of age and bright as a button.

Walking along the Poniente promenade in Benidorm it's impossible not to notice Benidorm's most stylish building, the Delfin Tower. Our video of it is at the link above.
We published our video on 11 November 2022. And on the same day, the Macael Awards ceremony was held in Almeria in the presence of King Philip VI of Spain and Queen Leticia. At the ceremony, Sergio Vidal Balaguer, director and owner of Goya Real Estate, received the award from the royal couple for the Delfin Tower, which he designed as a model for ecological urbanism.
The prize is awarded in the new 'sustainability' category to the building, for the ultra-compact Dekton surface in the colour Zenith, for the development of a ventilated façade using large-format individual panels and with a unique and exclusive structure. This is the first curved façade with porcelain ventilated facade and the first high rise residential building in Spain to receive Leed Gold certification. A certification which requires that everything from the design, the construction process, the choice of materials, to the subsequent management of the building, be conceived in such a way as to offer sustainable solutions without compromise.
Among other achievements, the tower manages to optimise ventilation and sun protection at different times of the year, thanks to the design of the façade.
An amusing observation. Both the king and Don Sergio Vidal are both Balaguer. Señor de Balaguer is a Spanish title of nobility. Before ascending the throne, the current King of Spain bore the title as heir to the throne. Sergio Vidal Balaguer got his last name from his mother Maria Balaguer-Boronat. And Vidal is the surname of his father Emilio Vidal.
But I digress. Today is not about the creator of Delfin Tower or his creation, but about us, the old people.
More than 20 years ago Goya Real Estate built and managed the Forum Mare Nostrum residence for the elderly in Alfaz del Pi. The residence has been in operation since 2002 and comprises 229 comfortable flats for residents over 65 years of age, with gardens, seating areas and a central clubhouse with reception. There are two restaurants with terraces, a bar, an events hall, an art workshop, a Tai-Chi gym, mini golf, an art exhibition, a heated swimming pool, an outdoor pool, a gym, a medical centre, a hairdresser, a spa, a theatre, a dance floor and a library. Forum Mare Nostrum 'is a successful resort for the elderly, mainly from Northern Europe.
How does one become a resident? The formula is simple. The resident must be at least 65 years old, in good health (not addicted). The resident must sign two contracts: one for the lease, which involves a monthly payment of 350 to 400 euros, and the other for the transfer of the premises. This second contract involves a lump sum payment of between €120,000 and €200,000, depending on the type of apartment, and entitles the resident to access all facilities and services and to use the apartment for 35 years. Given that the signatory is at least 65 years old, this is practically for life. Therefore, the title does not arise and when the contractual conditions expire, the contract is terminated.
On the basis of the experience of the project Goya Real Estate has developed an ambitious plan to build such complexes until 2028, with an investment of 500 million euros. There are plans to build 7 luxury macro complexes. The company has already acquired land in Javea and Malaga to build its next two projects and is studying the market in Madrid, Barcelona, Palma and Marbella, where it wants to be present in the medium term. If its roadmap is fulfilled, Goya Real Estate will have a portfolio of more than 3,000 senior housing units in Spain r 2028 , spread across seven complexes.
Senior Living only works in large complexes, says Vidal, who points out that for a development to be profitable it must have a minimum of 300 units for the scale effect to work , although ideally it should be around 500 units.Grupo Real Estate continues to bet on Senior Living and is launching the second phase of its Forum project with an investment of €67m . This new phase, called 'The Comm', also located at Camino del Pincho in Alfas del Pi (Alicante), will see the construction of 262 new luxury homes, which will be equipped with the latest technology and have a Breen sustainability certificate. The total area of THE COMM complex will be 128 thousand m². It will have 262 apartments, which together with Forum will make a total of 492 apartments.
