Utrera. Los Palacios y Villafranca. Sevilla

1 Day in SEVILLE, SPAIN (The City of PASSION) | Top 10 Things To Do in Seville, Spain

In this Seville Spain Vlog I take you with me as I spend 1 day in Seville Spain, showing you the top 10 things to do in Seville, Spain. Whether you have a weekend in Seville, Spain or just 1 day, no stop to Spain’s Andalusia region is complete without a visit to the charming city of Seville. Seville, or as the locals call it, Sevilla, is the beating heart of Southern Spain, and is home to incredible architecture, Spain’s best plazas, and tranquil garden escapes!

To start off my Seville Spain Vlog, I head to the Royal Alcazar of Seville, which is the oldest Royal Palace still in use in all of Europe. The Royal Alcazar of Seville is a huge palace full of unique Muslim and Christian style architecture and beautiful gardens to explore. Even if you only have 1 day in Seville, Spain, a stop to the Royal Alcazar is an absolute must!

Next up on my Seville Spain Travel Vlog, I head to what very well may be my favorite place in Seville, The Plaza of Spain, also known as La Plaza de España. The Plaza of Spain is a gorgeous place to spend a few hours in Seville and is home to some of the most beautiful architecture I have ever seen. There is also a canal running through the plaza in case you fancy a nice little boat ride, and the Plaza of Spain in Seville is also a great place to experience a live Flamenco show! If you visit Seville Spain, I can’t recommend this plaza enough!

Number 3 on my Top 10 things to do in Seville, Spain is to walk across the street from the Plaza of Spain to the Maria Luisa Park. This is a great place to unwind, escape the crowds, and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet surrounded by nature. After relaxing in Maria Luisa Park, your next stop on your 1 day in Seville Spain should be to the famous Seville Cathedral! The Seville Cathedral is the largest gothic cathedral in the world, boasting incredible views and architecture. If you enter the Seville Cathedral, you can also climb to the top for incredible views of both the cathedral and the entire city of Seville.

Number 5 on my list of the Top 10 things to do in Seville, Spain takes us to the Torre del Oro, or Tower of Gold. Originally built as a watch tower to protect the city of Seville, is now a naval museum right on the river! After admiring the Tower of Gold in Seville Spain, walk across the river to the neighborhood of Triana. If you want to escape the crowds on your 1 day in Seville Spain, then head to the Triana neighborhood to experience a local side to the city. The Triana Neighborhood is full of narrow, colorful streets, and is a great place to roam around and get lost in Seville.

Next up on my Seville Vlog, I walk over to the Plaza de Toros (Seville Bullring), which is where bullfights would frequently take place back in the day. The Plaza de Toros in Seville Spain is one of the oldest and largest in the entire country. After a quick visit to the Plaza de Toros, the next stop on my Seville Spain Vlog and a must visit on your 1 day in Seville Spain is to a special place called Las Setas, which translates to The Mushrooms. Known as the largest wooden structure in the entire world, The Mushrooms (Las Setas) in Seville Spain come in at number 8 on my list of the Top 10 things to do in Seville.

Next on my Seville Spain Travel Vlog, and a great place to visit on your weekend in Seville Spain is taking us to the San Francisco Square (Plaza de San Francisco), which is a really unique square in Seville, home to various airplanes and surrounded by colorful buildings and narrow streets. The last stop on my Seville Spain Vlog and number 10 on my list of the Top 10 things to do in Seville Spain is to attend a Flamenco Show. Flamenco is a beautiful and passionate form of dance and is a huge part of the local culture here in Seville, making it a great way to cap off your 1 day in Seville Spain.

I hope you enjoyed my Seville Spain Vlog and that my time in Seville, Spain helps you plan your future trip to this incredible city!

Royal ALCAZAR Seville, Spain. [Game of Thrones SEVILLE]

The Real Alcázar with its gardens is another beautiful UNESCO world heritage site in Seville that you really don't want to miss in a Seville tour.

It is located in the city center, just next to the Seville Cathedral.

Alcázar Seville

Its beauty is legendary and is one of the most magnificent architectural works in Andalusia. Maybe that's the reason why till now, the Spanish royal family couldn’t give up on this palace and it is still their Seville royal residence.

This place might look familiar for those Game of Thrones fans because it was used as one of their filming locations. This is the reason why Real Alcazar became more popular to visitors who were previously not very familiar with Spanish royal architecture.

History : This place was used for government buildings during the 10th century but the Moors promptly destroyed it after arriving in Seville and only the Palacio del Yeso stands strong today. When King Fernando III recaptured Seville from the Moorish, he transformed it into a Christian palace with a mudéjar style which is a confluence of Moorish and Christian art.

Highlights :
Palacio del Rey Don Pedro/Palace of King Pedro is a set of 9 rooms and courtyards which includes some of the most iconic and recognizable rooms of the Alcazar with a mudéjar styled architecture. It has a stairways to that leads to the Cuarto Real Alto or the Royal Quarters.

Patio de Las Doncellas /Courtyard of Maidens. it is a symmetrical mudéjar style patio surrounded by beautiful gardens with pool in the middle.

Baños Doña María de Padilla /Baths of Maria de Padilla. It is a rainwater catchment system. The ceiling covers a large rectangular pool that is always filled with water which was used for bath Maria de Padilla, the mistress of King Pedro.

Galería del Grutesco /Grotto Gallery
It is a mudéjar and Italian style which is made of both real and fake rocks. It is a very unique backdrop for the Jardin del Estanque.

Alcazar Gardens Seville
The gardens have over 20,000 plants. The scenery here will leave you in awe. Here you will see the Garden of the Reservoir, the Garden of the Poets, and the Garden of Vega Inclan.

Tickets : Lines can be quite long and involve standing out in the hot sun for an hour or more so i really recommend buying tickets online in advance. You can choose different options from General admission to the ground floor or Skip The Line Tickets if you want to save time. And if you really want to know the history of this palace nothing beats having a tour guide.

Book your tickets for Alcazar here:

About Sevilla:

Being situated in a privileged place of Andalusia, the province of Sevilla has a special colour that easily wins the heart of its visitors. Throughout the city you will find 2001 villages, each one with its own flavor, that will make you come back.

Sevilla has a rich cultural and historic heritage, and the best example of it is the town of Ecija, also famous as the city of towers, distinguished by its baroque bell towers, which mark its roofs. Its Museo Historico Monumental boasts important collections of Roman and Islamic pieces of art. Marchena and Osuna, with numerous museums, are also no less important towns to visit.

If you wish to get to know the natural beauty of the province of Sevilla, you should visit the Parque Natural de la Sierra Norte, home to different species of animals and plants. Here you will have an opportunity to practise rappel, climbing and speleology. On the other hand, you can discover a natural swimming pool of Alanis, situated in a huge cave.

But instead, if you prefer to deeply experience the flamenco, you should go to Mairena, where you will find its signs everywhere. There is a large number of places to enjoy the spectacles and demonstrations of this centenarian art.

A suggestion: do not miss visiting the capital of the province, where you will be able to taste a delicious Andalusian cuisine and to discover its old quarter, the biggest one of Spain.
