Ashton-in-Makerfield is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Wigan. In 2011, it had a population of 28,762.Historically part of Lancashire, Ashton-in-Makerfield was a township in the parish of Newton-in-Makerfield (as Newton-le-Willows was once known), Winwick and hundred of West Derby. With neighbouring Haydock, Ashton-in-Makerfield was a chapelry, but the two were split in 1845. The place has long been a centre for the manufacture of locks and hinges, but also sits on the Lancashire Coalfield, and was a coal mining district.

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

There are several Peacocks that run freely in and around the Village, and that are happy to share a snack with you, as long as you are gentle. Exploring The BEST Things To Do In GLASGOW!!????????????????????????????
Today w'ere exploring the best things to do in GLASGOW, SCOTLAND!!
If we're being honest, we had no clue what to expect before arriving in Glasgow. We knew they were obviously known as the capital of Scotland & a major home for Scottish football, but there's SO MUCH to do in Glasgow & this video merely scratches the surface!
Today we start by going to Willow Grove for coffee. Willow Grove Coffee is a very popular coffee shop in Glasgow & the flat white tasted incredible! It's a really popular place & we highly recommend it!
We then made our way over to the University of Glasgow. We knew that this college would be impressive, but it wildly exceeded our expectations! The cloisters gave a really cool Harry Potter feel & the university itself is one of the four oldest universities in the English-speaking world. University of Glasgow is an excellent spot to enjoy coffee while enjoying some spectacular scenery.
From there we hopped in the car & drove into the center of Glasgow to see Buchanan Street. This felt like the main thoroughfare in Glasgow & made for a great afternoon of window shopping. If you're looking to shop until you drop then this is the place for you!! While in the center of Glasgow, make sure to stop & see George Square. George Square is a central hub for the city & has a host of different statues of famous Scottish people who've done great things.
Shortly after we walked over to BrewDog Merchant City. This is a chain restaurant/brewery, but has an excellent selection of Scottish beers that we wanted to try. The barbecue & fries were an excellent treat along with our IPAs!
After sufficiently stuffing ourselves with good food & great beer, we decided to walk a bit to Glasgow Cathedral & the Necropolis behind it. This cathedral is truly stunning. From the vaulted ceilings to the crypt below, we were mesmerized by the architecture & couldn't believe this was free to tour (although donations are encouraged). Behind the Glasgow Cathedral is the Necropolis. Trey loves a good cemetery, & it's not hard to see why when you enter this. These Victorian headstones highlight the ornate tastes of previous generations. Make sure to walk through & marvel at some of the most beautiful headstones you'll find in Britain!
We finished our day by going to Ashton Lane. Ashton Lane is a cobblestoned backstreet in the West End of Glasgow. There are numerous bars & restaurants to choose from, & we opted with stopping at Innis & Gunn Brewery. We sampled some great beers & sandwiches before closing out our day in Glasgow. Glasgow's such an incredible city & we had such a great time. If you love good food & beer then add Glasgow to your itinerary next time you're in the UK!

England's Best Cities: Travel Itinerary By Train

There is so much to experience when you #visitEngland. And while #London is a must-visit, travelers should also explore nearby historic cities for a fuller picture of the country's heritage and culture.
Luckily, in this video I'm sharing an amazing 5-day #EnglandTravel itinerary, which can be done by train, taking you from London to Carlisle and back -- with unforgettable stops along the way. By the way, this is a great trip for solo female travelers.

For this England by train trip, here is what I suggest:
Fly into London, then hop on the train to Chester, touted as one of England's most beautiful cities.
After wandering and enjoying the Victorian architecture, visit the magnificent Chester Cathedral to explore spirituality, art, culture, and even made-from-scratch meals in the stunning Cathedral Refectory Cafe. Don't miss the inspiring creation window, featuring the hand of God moving through the six days of creation.
Pro tip: Make sure to also take a Roman Tours excursion. Your legionnaire-dressed guide will share stories from when the Romans founded Chester in the 1st century AD. Walk among ruins, visiting the Chester amphitheater, where gladiators fought to the death. Stroll along the walls that once guarded the city, and spend time in ancient Roman bath houses. You do not want to know what that was used for.
Craving nature? Take a walk through the groves along the River Dee. Stroll along colorful gardens and old church ruins in Grosvenor Park. And hike the idyllic trails of the Chester Meadows.
From Chester, it's less than 90 minutes to Lancaster, a small city with a rich history.
Start your day with a siphon-brewed single-origin coffee at The Hall, a cafe that's part of the local Atkinson's Coffee empire.
Once caffeinated, walk up to the famous Lancaster Castle, which holds almost 1,000 years of history relating to persecution, incarceration, justice, and punishment.
Another impressive building with a story is the Ashton Memorial in Williamson Park. Commissioned by Lord Ashton in remembrance of his second wife, Jessie, after she passed away. From there, take in the views out across Morecambe Bay to the Lake District.
Beyond the memorial, the park features beautiful trails, gardens, and ponds.

When you're ready for your next destination, the train can take you directly to Carlisle, a quaint and colorful city full of heritage to discover.
Carlisle is known as the most besieged city in the United Kingdom. So you'll definitely wanna visit Carlisle Castle. Built on the site of an ancient Roman fort, there is much to do and see. Walk the castle walls for a 360-degree view, learn about the siege of Carlisle and the Jacobite rising, and view the 15th-century doodles, likely carved into the walls by bored prison guards.
The 900-year-old Carlisle Cathedral is another highlight. Take in the 19th-century organ with its 4,000 plus pipes, the stunning east window with its 14th-century glass, and the calming starlight ceiling.
At the nearby Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery, travel Carlisle and its Cumbria County from neolithic times to present, learning about art, archeology, wildlife, past civilizations, and more.
Nature is also an important facet of Carlisle, which offers easy day trips to the Lake District, and is home to the lush Bitts Park, with its scenic trails, colorful gardens, and sunken forests.
It's recommended to opt for first-class for the three-and-a-half-hour ride to London for wine and dinner, paired with countryside views.
London is a truly international city, offering experiences for everyone. And even surprises. Here's one. In the basement of this office building are these ruins from a former Roman house and baths.
Another surprise is The Line, a free to enjoy modern and contemporary art walk following the waterways and Greenwich Meridian Line. Wander the free to enjoy Museum of London, take in the English baroque beauty of St. Paul's Cathedral, and immerse yourself in architectural splendor.

Ashton Court is a mansion house and estate to the west of Bristol in England. Although the estate lies mainly in North Somerset, it is owned by the City of Bristol. The mansion and stables are a Grade I listed building.[1] Other structures on the estate are also listed.
Ashton Court has been the site of a manor house since the 11th century, and has been developed by a series of owners since then. From the 16th to 20th centuries it was owned by the Smyth family with each generation changing the house. Designs by Humphry Repton were used for the landscaping in the early 19th century. It was used as a military hospital in the First World War. In 1936 it was used as the venue for the Royal Show and, during the Second World War as an army transit camp. In 1946 the last of the Smyth family died and the house fell into disrepair before its purchase in 1959 by Bristol City Council.
The estate developed from the original deer park and is Grade II* listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England. It is the venue for a variety of leisure activities, including the now-defunct Ashton Court Festival, Bristol International Kite Festival and the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. It is home to charity The Forest of Avon Trust.

The Ashton Court Estate was once home to the Smyth family and is now a historic park 10 minutes from the centre of Bristol.
The estate is home to two 18-hole pitch-and-putt golf courses, with stunning views across the city. Activities such as orienteering and mountain biking are catered for with special trails, and there is plenty of open space for family games and picnics. Ashton Court is one of the few places you can take off in a hot air balloon or discover the unusual sport of Disc Golf.
At Ashton Court Estate, there are two on-site cafés to enjoy local cakes, freshly prepared sandwiches as well as a range of drinks and snacks. With seating indoors and out and space for the kids to play, the dog-friendly cafés can be enjoyed year-round.

Discovering Devon/Ashton, U.k (#History in Description)
Ashton is a civil parish in the #Teignbridge district of #Devon, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 174, and it had a population of 203 according to the 2011 census. I use the free version of Davinci Resolve 16 to do some really basic editing. Mainly making sure the sky isn't over exposed. It's from Camera straight to YouTube. No cuts, no fancy business, no talking, just walking.

Lancaster, or is a city and the county town of Lancashire, England. It is situated on the River Lune. Long existing as a commercial, cultural and educational centre, Lancaster is the settlement that gives Lancashire its name. Lancaster has several unique ties to the British monarchy; the House of Lancaster was a branch of the English royal family, whilst the Duchy of Lancaster holds large estates on behalf of Elizabeth II, who herself is also the Duke of Lancaster in her capacity as monarch.
Lancaster was granted city status in 1937 for its long association with the crown and because it was the county town of the King's Duchy of Lancaster. With its history based on its port and canal, Lancaster is an ancient settlement, dominated by Lancaster Castle, Lancaster Priory Church and the Ashton Memorial. It is also home to the campus-based Lancaster University and a campus of the University of Cumbria.
Lancaster is the most northerly city in Lancashire, located three miles 4.8 km inland from Morecambe Bay. The city is located on the River Lune (from which it derives its name), and the Lancaster Canal.
The M6 motorway passes to the east of Lancaster, with junctions 33 and 34 to the south and north respectively. Lancaster is served by the West Coast Main Line which runs through Lancaster railway station. This station was formerly named Lancaster Castle railway station in order to differentiate it from Lancaster Green Ayre railway station on the Leeds–Morecambe line, which closed in 1966. The main bus operator in Lancaster is Stagecoach, which operates over thirty services from Lancaster Bus Station to Lancaster and Morecambe as well as frequent services in Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and services throughout the North West of England. The Lancaster Canal and River Lune also pass through the city. The nearest airports are Manchester Airport, Liverpool Airport and, until October 2014, Blackpool International Airport.

Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire, England on the River Biss in the west of the county, 8 miles south east of Bath, Somerset, from which it is separated by the Mendip Hills, which rise 3 miles to the west.
Long a market town, the Kennet and Avon canal runs to the north of Trowbridge and played an instrumental part in the town's development as it enabled coal to be transported from the Somerset Coalfield and so marked the advent of steam-powered manufacturing in woollen cloth mills. The town of Trowbridge was foremost producer of this mainstay of contemporary clothing and blankets in south west England in the late 18th and early 19th centuries by which time it held the nickname The Manchester of the West.
The parish encompasses the settlements of Longfield, Lower Studley, Upper Studley, Studley Green and Trowle Common. Adjacent parishes include Staverton, Hilperton, West Ashton, North Bradley, Southwick and Wingfield; nearby towns are Bradford on Avon, Westbury, Melksham, Frome and Devizes.
There is much of architectural interest in Trowbridge, including many of the old buildings associated with the textile industry, and the Newtown conservation area, a protected zone of mostly Victorian houses. The town has six Grade I listed buildings, being St James' Church, Lovemead House and numbers 46, 64, 68 and 70, Fore Street.
Trowbridge railway station was opened in 1848 on the Westbury–Bradford-on-Avon section of the Wilts, Somerset and Weymouth Railway. Today this line forms part of both the Wessex Main Line (Bristol–Westbury–Southampton) and the Heart of Wessex Line (Bristol–Westbury–Weymouth), while the original route to Melksham, Chippenham and Swindon is used by the TransWilts service. Other services from Trowbridge join the Great Western main line at Bath and Chippenham, or join the Reading to Taunton line at Westbury.
Trowbridge is about 18 miles (29 km) from junction 18 of the M4 motorway (Bath) and the same distance from junction 17 (Chippenham). The A361 runs through the town, connecting it to Swindon to the north-east and Barnstaple to the south-west, while the north-south A350 primary route to Poole passes close to the town.
Within Trowbridge Castle was a 10th-century Anglo-Saxon church. Henry de Bohun turned this to secular use and instead had a new church built outside the Castle; this was the first St James' Church. In the base of the tower of the present day church, below the subsequently added spire, can be seen the Romanesque architecture of the period.

We always start with a long walk and it has become a Sunday tradition for us to visit the beautiful Ashton Court Estate, which is literally right next to the city and gives an incredible view of Bristol.
