10 Reasons Why Bakewell is one of the Best Places to Live in the UK

What are the reasons why Bakewell is one of the best places to live in the United Kingdom? My attention has been drawn to the town of Bakewell since the time I found it on my subscribers' list as one of Britain's best towns to live in. I, however, have been unable to do justice to the small market town located in the Dales of the county of Derbyshire which is some 21 kilometers southwest of the city of Sheffield. I found a lot of interesting things about the town and I can only deal with those things if I dedicate an entire video to the town located in the southeastern corner of the Peak District National Park. Therefore, follow along as I show you 10 reasons why Bakewell is one of Britain’s best towns.

1. Countryside
The first thing that caught my attention was the countryside. It made no serious impression on me when I first read about that in an article in The Sunday Times of September 2019. The journal then described the attractions and allures of living within the town in the Peak District National Park and Derbyshire Dales. Now, I vividly remember the attractiveness of those stone cottages, green valleys, and rugged moorland. Yet, that’s not all there is to be remembered about the countryside Bakewell. Imagine living close to this natural and waking up every day to the sight of bright sunrise appearing over the mountain. I'm sure you’d want to consider such a town one of the best towns to live in Britain.
2. Good and independent schools
Other reasons you would love to live in Bakewell are its schools and their quality. As small as the town is, it has great schools. Three of its principal primary schools enjoy top ratings in England. And its Lady Manners School stands tall among its peers, judging from the performances of its students and products. To affirm the quality of its schools, search out the Bakewell CofE Infant School at Bath Street and see its “Good” inspection rating. Child 1st (Bakewell) Day Nursery at Derbyshire House, which is childcare on non-domestic, also has an equally good rating to help you care for your kids’ formative years. Pilsley CofE Primary School at Pilsley Village and Bakewell Methodist Junior School are examples its primary schools that are doing so great. You can also talk about the independent St Anselm’s Preparatory School and College. This cares for pupils aged 3-16.
3. Shopping
I guess you want to live in a town where you won’t have a hard time or need so much travel to shop. Great! Bakewell is one of the best Britain’s towns to live in if it is the shopping you’re after. This little town is replete with these as they're packed to the rafters with gifts and crafts. You could easily pick up practical and functional gears that also function outdoor. Your kitchen accessories and photographic services are at your fingertip. You don’t need to look any further. Bakewell is a shopaholic’s delight where you’ll get more than you bargain for. In fact, you could spend days in just one shop if you have the luxury. You’d love, for example, Granby Arcade, for the unusual. With many unique boutiques, art galleries, and gift items, you will certainly be able to find something hard to come by elsewhere.
4. Road connections
The town of Bakewell is well connected by road, thanks to its location in the north of the Midlands. It is adequately served by the motorway network.
Bakewell - One of the best places to live in the UK.

10 Things to do in Cambridge Travel Guide | London Day Trip video transcript:

Today we are here at Kings Cross station and we are going on yet another day trip. Another one. Where are we off to? Another day trip from London. We're off to Cambridge today.

There are a number of trains from Kings Cross to Cambridge with journeys ranging from 45 minutes to a little over an hour and a half. Buying your ticket in advance is always a good idea as you can get a better price, and it’s also wise to travel off peak.

If you decide to walk into town like we did, Cambridge University Botanic Garden makes for a nice little stop. The garden has over 8000 species.

It is lunchtime for us and we've walked over to the Regal. Apparently this used to be a hotel, then a cinema and now it is a pub. I've ordered breakfast and Sam is having lunch. I'm waiting for my eggs benedict and I think you're having a Steak and Ale Pie? And a pint of Guinness

Feeling stuffed from that pub fare, we started making our way into town, and it wasn’t long before we came across the River Cam which was teaming with punters. Some made it look easy, while others were struggling, but we had a different idea and decided to go visit one of the colleges.

As a fun fact: The University of Cambridge was founded in 1209, just a few decades after Oxford University, making it the second oldest university in the English-speaking world. It is divided into 31 independent colleges, and our first one of the day was Queens College.

The most popular thing to do here in Cambridge aside from of course exploring the University is to go punting. It is very crowded out there.

So next up we're inside the Great Saint Mary's Church and we're going to be climbing the tower because apparently these are the best views of all of Cambridge. We like to climb towers.

The spiralling staircase is quite narrow and it has to accommodate traffic going up and down, which requires being a contortionist at times, but that’s how you earn those views!

Next up we are doing Trinity College and this is the largest college here at Cambridge University and also it was founded by Henry VIII.

That is basically it for our travel guide from Cambridge. I feel like we barely put a dent in Cambridge. We are back at the station just waiting for our train now back to London.

This is part of our Travel in England video series showcasing British food, British culture and British cuisine.

3 Days Exploring the Peak District | Best Things to See & Do

Hey! We're back on another adventure, this time exploring the Peak District for the very first time!

The Peak District National Park is situated towards the northern part of central England. The National Park is located mostly in northern Derbyshire, although it also reaches into Cheshire, Yorkshire, Staffordshire and Greater Manchester. This makes this scenic holiday hotspot incredibly easy to access from Nottingham, Manchester, Sheffield and Derby.

Much of the landscape here is green, rugged and natural. Every twist and turn in the road leads to yet more far-reaching views across hills and dales.

We live only two and a half hours away from the Peak District and even we were amazed at how different the landscape is.

Our first activity of the trip was a circular walk up Mam Tor, followed by a quick supermarket shop and a delicious evening meal at the Cambodian restaurant, Kambuja.

The next day we took a stroll around the beautiful Ladybower Reservoir and took in the sights of Derwent Dam.

We had a very early start the next day to watch the sunrise at Winnats Pass and visited Three Shires Head waterfall for a cold water swim. In the afternoon we wrapped up the day by visiting the magnificent Thor's Cave.

On our final day we visited the picturesque town of Bakewell to try some delicious Bakewell tart and indulge in a spot of afternoon tea.

???? To keep up to date with our most recent travels, follow us on instagram!

We find all of our walks on All trails ????????????????‍♀️

We're Shadiya and Elliot of Plants, My Wife and I and we're a married couple living on the coast of North Yorkshire.

We love exploring new places and being out amongst nature, so being able to combine those two things on our travels is our most favourite thing to do.

When travelling, we aim to see the most iconic sights whilst also getting off the beaten path to find the true beauty of a place. This means our trips often combine sight seeing with long walks!

Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to see more of our adventures ????

10 BEST beaches in Jersey, Channel Islands (+ AMAZING views)

#Jersey #ChannelIslamds #beaches
Jersey is well-known for it's sun, sea and sand so in this video we show you the very best of Jersey's beaches.

00:11 Grève de Lecq beach is on the boarder of the parishes of St. Mary and St. Ouen. Its golden sand, easy access and great facilities make it the most popular beach on Jersey's north coast.

00:37 Archirondel is a small pebble beach tucked away down a little lane in the north-eastern corner of the island. The bay faces East, making it perfect for a swim at sunrise. One of its most recognisable features is the Martello Tower which was originally built for artillery soldiers and has now been refurbished into holiday accommodation.

01:02 Heading South around the coast the next bay you come to is Anne Port, another pebbly beach popular in the early morning for those heading into the water. At the southern end of the bay is a rock face known as Geoffrey's Leap where legend has it criminals were executed by being thrown into the sea.

01:27 Officially named the Royal Bay of Grouville by Queen Victoria, this beach is more commonly known by locals as 'Long Beach'. With Mont Orgueil Castle at the Northern end it runs down the east coast of Jersey. Easy access and shallow water make it great for swimming although at low tide there's a long walk to the sea due to large tides.

✅ Toilets
✅ Carpark
✅ Bus (several)

02:02 At the Western end of the south coast is Portelet bay, with golden sand and clear shallow waters perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Portelet isn't easily accessible, but the adventurous are rewarded with amazing views! The most recognisable aspect of the bay is Janvrin's Tomb where a local sea captain, who's ship returned carrying the plague, is laid to rest having not been allowed to return to shore.

❌ Toilets
✅ Carpark
✅ Bus (12a)

02:40 Ouaisne is a sheltered beach where you can swim safely. Kismet Cabana serves street food with live music in the summer. This area has historic links with smuggling and the pub in the bay is called the Old Smugglers Inn.

✅ Cafe
✅ Toilets
✅ Carpark

03:05 The island's most recognisable and popular beach is St. Brelade's Bay, with its white sand, safe, clear waters and palm-fringed promenade, it was voted in the top three best UK beaches on TripAdvisor. Its shallow waters make this beach the ideal place for swimming and water-sports.
✅ Lifeguards
✅ Cafe
✅ Toilets
✅ Carpark
✅ Bus (12a, 14, Beach Bus)

03:48 Beauport Bay is hidden just around the headland to the West of St. Brelade's but once you're there, it feels a whole world away. Getting there is an adventure in itself, down a steep pathway and steps from the small car park at the top but the climb down (and back up again afterwards) is definitely worth it. A strip of golden sand backs onto a pebble bank and the area directly behind the beach is a nature reserve. The crystal clear water here is perfect for swimming and a popular spot for boats. The lack of facilities here all add to the charm!
❌ Lifeguards
❌ Cafe
❌ Toilets
❌ Carpark
❌ Bus

04:30 St. Ouen's Bay is the longest beach in Jersey and spans almost the entire west coast. With miles of clean white sand there's plenty of space for everyone. The rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean make this the best spot for surfing in Jersey and it even boasts one of the oldest surfing clubs in Europe. With its westerly aspect St. Ouen's is the place to be at sunset to relax and watch the sky turn golden over Corbiere lighthouse and La Rocco Tower.
✅ Lifeguards
✅ Cafe
✅ Toilets
✅ Carpark
✅ Bus (22)

05:20 Plémont, in the north west corner of the Island, is shouldered by high cliffs which house the Jersey's largest caves. The beach is hidden entirely by the sea at high tide and there's only a small window to enjoy golden sand and clean rock pools before the sea returns. It's accessed by a long staircase.

✅ Cafe
✅ Toilets
✅ Carpark

PROS and CONS of living in Manchester

What are the pros and cons of living in Manchester? Although Manchester might not be the first city that comes to mind when thinking about relocating to the United Kingdom, the city is rapidly developing into a popular destination for people from the United Kingdom as well as those from other countries who are looking to begin a new chapter in their lives.
Living in a metropolis, just like living in any other city in the globe, comes with its share of benefits as well as drawbacks. The following is a list of some of the most important pros and cons with relocating to Manchester that should be considered before making a final choice.
PROS:
1. Rent is affordable
In comparison to that of London, the price of living in Manchester is 32 percent lower. Rather of immediately purchasing a home in the neighborhood of their choice, many individuals first test the market by renting a home there. This is something to consider doing since the location could not be to your taste or live up to the standards you have set for it. Many people are able to live in a highly desired location that they otherwise may not be able to afford to live in because of the availability of rental housing in that location. And a growing number of individuals are coming to the realization that renting a house rather than purchasing a property may make more financial sense for them.
Living in Manchester, there is a variety of housing available to suit the needs of expats looking for either a contemporary apartment in the heart of the city or a cozy family house in the surrounding suburbs. In recent years, Manchester has experienced an increase in the number of new property projects, which means that there is little question that new newcomers will find a home that is suited for them. This is because Manchester is trying to accommodate the city's rising population.
Moving to Manchester will definitely provide you more house for your money than many areas in the south of England, and the city has a better work-life balance than the majority of other cities in the United Kingdom. Because the overall cost of living in Manchester is lower than in a lot of areas in the south, Manchester provides excellent value for money as a location for your new house because it is less expensive. Due to the neighborhood's high demand and limited supply, apartment rents in the Northern Quarter are often the highest in the city. Those who are ready to live farther out in the city and make use of the city's outstanding public transport networks will definitely save money on rent, which means they will have more money available in their budget to spend on other things, such as entertainment or other charges.
2. Good public transport
The public transportation while you’re living in Manchester is among the best in the country. In addition, there is a tram service that operates quite effectively and often, as well as a free shuttle bus that provides service to the retail center as well as the major rail terminals. The M60, M62, and M6 freeways can all be reached without any difficulty. There are four main railway stations in Manchester, which provide connections to every significant city within the UK. Additionally, the Manchester International Airport is located around 17 kilometers (12 miles) outside of the city.

3. Lots of job opportunities
If you have experience in a variety of fields, such as finance, law, biotechnology, or digital media, you will discover fantastic prospects if you want to work while living in Manchester. Manchester is a metropolitan region that is quite active, and because of this, you will find wonderful opportunities here. The work market in Manchester is also significantly less competitive than the job market in London, making Manchester the ideal location for people who are just starting out in their careers.

Our visit Edinburgh travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (best restaurants and street food), top museums and the city by day. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities you won't find in a typical Edinburgh tourism brochure or Edinburgh, Scotland city tour.

20 Things to do in Edinburgh, Scotland Top Attractions Travel Guide Video Transcript:

Our week in Edinburgh was action packed! We sampled gin and Scotch whisky, wandered down tiny closes, braved the crowds along the Royal Mile, ate our fill of haggis, and even visited a castle, a palace, and an abbey. So, if you’re looking for things to do in Edinburgh on your visit, this video guide will show you all of those attractions and then some!

Edinburgh Castle is hard to miss as it dominates the city’s skyline. The first thing you should know about the Castle is that it’s not just one single building, so once you’re inside there’s quite a bit to see and do; you can tour the Royal Palace, see the Crown Jewels, watch the firing of the one o’clock gun, step inside St. Margaret’s Chapel, visit the National War Museum and so much more, so give yourself plenty of time.

We also made time to visit the famed Royal Mile, which is the busiest street in Edinburgh’s Old Town. There’s quite a bit to see along here, so we first popped into the Royal Mile Market, which is set inside a former church, and from there we continued down the street, visiting little souvenir shops along the way. You’ll have no trouble finding a kilt here!

Another activity we really enjoyed was taking a food tour with Eat Walk Edinburgh. We got to try a lot of delicious bites and beverages along the way, and one of the highlights was visiting the Fugde House.

Another fun way to explore Edinburgh on foot is by wandering down the tiny closes. These small alleys were often named after a memorable occupant, and the Old Town is full of them.

And that’s it for our visit to Edinburgh, Scotland. We hope you enjoyed following our travels and that this video gave you a few ideas of things to do, foods to try, and places to visit around the city. As always, if you have any other suggestions of things to do in Edinburgh, feel free to share those with fellow travellers in the comments section below. Until next time!

This is part of our Travel in Scotland video series showcasing Scottish food, Scottish culture and Scottish cuisine.

WALK AROUND LADY LEVER ART GALLERY, PORT SUNLIGHT, WIRRAL. 4K #video 51#

Not my usual type of video, my wife and I went to one of our local art galleries again, free entry with requests of donations. I tried to cut out as many people from the video, so some footage may not be perfect. Some rooms have very low light to preserve the art work.

Day Trip To Port Sunlight | Meet Up Tour Pt10

We take a day trip to Port Sunlight Village.

Port Sunlight is a model village and suburb in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside, it is located between Lower Bebington and New Ferry, on the Wirral Peninsula. Port Sunlight was built by Lever Brothers to accommodate workers in its soap factory (now part of Unilever); work commenced in 1888. The name is derived from Lever Brothers' most popular brand of cleaning agent, Sunlight. (Wikipedia)
