Leticia is a city in Colombia, located in the southernmost part of the country. It is the capital of the Amazonas Department and is situated on the banks of the Amazon River. Leticia is known for its unique location in the heart of the Amazon rainforest and as it is located in a tri-border area where the borders of Colombia, Brazil, and Peru meet. The cities of Tabatinga (Brazil) and Santa Rosa (Peru) are nearby, and there's a unique trilateral border crossing point.
Due to its remote location within the Amazon rainforest, Leticia is not connected to the rest of Colombia's road network. The primary means of access is by air or by boat along the Amazon River.
The city serves as an important gateway for exploring the Amazon jungle. The Amazon rainforest is renowned for its incredible biodiversity. Leticia and its surroundings offer opportunities for ecotourism, wildlife observation, and exploration of the diverse flora and fauna.

We spent 4 wonderful days in the Amazon in Leticia, Colombia (January 2022) with 2 nights hikes where we spotted the most dangerous spider in the world: Brazilian Wandering Spider. We went zip lining in the rainforest, slept in a tree house and discovered the Amazon river.
This was a lifetime adventure for us - hope you get inspired to visit Leticia one day.

ONE WEEK IN LETICIA AMAZON | COLOMBIA
Aloha and Welcome to THE PINEAPPLE HQ!
What was supposed to be a few days in Leticia, ended up turning into a week of local adventures. In this video, we will share all the amazing experiences we had from running into the tuk tuk driver that helped us at the airport to running in to him TWICE while we wandered lost looking for our air bnb on foot with our backpacks.
Couldn't say thank you enough to Cesar and Valery for welcoming us in to their home and sharing their local favorites with us. This young, ambitious and hard working couple were more than just tour guides, they quickly became OHANA. They spoke just as much English as we spoke Spanish so it turned into a great learning experience for all of us. If you ever travel to Leticia, Amazonas and are looking for more of a chill local experience, we will leave Cesars Whatsapp info below for you.
Spent a lot of time touring the old indigenous towns and shops. Cruised the amazon river to get back and forth to markets. An awesome experience with macaws, anacondas, monkeys, giant catfish, piranahs and pink dolphins of the Amazonas River. Met a ton of families and locals that generously offered us delicious fruits, snacks and sent us off with home cooked meals.
Our very first experience with the wildlife and amazon was an absolute treat. Sunrises and sunsets were completely breathe taking. Leticia, Amazonas will definitely be a place we would love to visit again.

Discover the lesser-known Colombian Amazon with me! I fly into the city of Leticia and then take the fast ferry down the Amazon River to Puerto Nariño for some wildlife adventures, spotting tarantulas, sloths, caimans, and even fishing for piranas. Then it's on to Mocagua and a monkey sanctuary.

Amazon Jungle Walk Leticia Colombia
Leticia is a city in southern Colombia, next to the Amazon River and bordering Brazil and Peru. In the center of town, the boardwalk has river views. The main square is Santander Park, with a pond and trees where hundreds of parrots roost. Neighboring Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace is a modern building, with city views from its bell tower. The Ethnographic Museum has displays on the region’s indigenous groups.

We arrived in the Amazonas. It's hot here! Leticia is an interesting town to check out for a couple days. All the tiny parrots in Park Santander were really cool. We also spent the better part of a day figuring out how to buy boat tickets to Puerto Nariño (Colombia) and Iquitos (Peru). The empanadas in Leticia were soooo good. Leticia has a completely different look, feel and vibe than any place we have seen so far. Hope you enjoy the sights and sounds of the Amazon.
