David Crockett State Park in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee

Cupcake and I recently stayed at David Crockett State Park in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and wanted to give you a little information on the park. This short focuses on Campground #1 (where we stayed). It’s a nice campground with 45 sites, full electric and water hookups (Campground #2 has lots of sites too).

It’s actually in Lawrenceburg, but you’d never know it - the 1300 acre park is quiet and peaceful with beautiful views and fun hikes. There is a museum, restaurant, boat dock, gift shop, and lots more, so if your in southern Tennessee and looking for a state park, this is a good one.

David (Davy) Crockett moved to the area in 1817 and lived there for several years, so if you’re interested in that make sure to visit the museum for lots of information!

Watch for our full video on Sunday where we’ll do several amazing hikes - see you then!

Hiking in David Crockett State Park - Lawrenceburg, Tennessee

We recently stayed at the David Crockett State Park in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee for several days and had an amazing visit. The park is quiet and peaceful even though it's just a minute or so from downtown Lawrenceburg! We hiked several trails, including the Shoals Creek Trail and Trail of Tears Hiking Trail. We also tried out the food at the Crockett Restaurant inside the park and were fortunate enough to see some of the beautiful scenery the park has to offer.

Shoals Creek Trail is a 1.7 mile trail that starts near Campground #1 and takes you down to the beautiful Crockett Falls. Our hike continued on to Lake Lindsey Falls, which is more of a spillway for Lake Lindsey, but still work the hike. We had an amazing lunch at Crockett Restaurant inside the park, then continued on to the Trail of Tears Hiking Trail. This 2.5 mile trail follows some of the original trail used to move members of the Cherokee westward from their ancestral homelands to new territory in present day Oklahoma. This infamous piece of history was required as part of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. David Crockett, a state legislator at that time, voted against the act stating it was wicked and unjust. This is a little bit of history of which I was not aware (the David Crockett aspect, not the Trail of Tears - it should be part of every history class, in my opinion), but glad to learn.

David Crockett State Park is a great park to visit if your interested in history. It's only an hour from Nashville, close to several waterfalls and the Natchez Trace Parkway. We're very happy we were able to visit this great state park and home to visit again soon!
