La Parguera, Lajas Puerto Rico

La Parguera Beach is a small, but picturesque, town located in the southwest of Puerto Rico in the town of Lajas. The place has been for many years a place of entertainment for the whole family.

The municipality of Lajas has great places of interest but without a doubt La Parguera Beach is the main attraction. This figure as one of the most visited areas for being the cradle of great attractions and gifts in natural resources. La Parguera is the most concrete evidence of the synonym of the word perfection. The air and the purity that you see and breathe is one like very few.

The main activities as the main point of tourism are boat trips to the keys, through the mangrove channels, sport fishing for dorado, wahoo, tuna and snapper, diving with tanks and kayaking among other aquatic activities.

La Parguera is also a nature lover’s paradise with ample opportunities for snorkeling, diving, hiking, bird watching, cycling and much more.

This place is the starting point for several keys that are part of the ecosystem of that area. There are companies that give the tour by boat to the keys at different times of the day. One of the most requested tours is at night, to enjoy the two bio-luminescent bays: Monsio José Bay and La Parguera Bay.

For the more adventurous there are kayak excursions and to practice “snorkeling” or diving. La Parguera has one of the best snorkeling sites in the Western Hemisphere called La Pared (the Wall), located five miles offshore.

The town of La Parguera is primarily a collection of late-night pubs and small restaurants that usually fill up with people of all ages on weekends. There are several options to enjoy in this tourist region. You can start by trying the tasty seafood fritters and the typical sweets that are sold in the various kiosks. If you want a more elaborate dish, you will also find it since this area is known for having a wide variety of restaurants specializing in seafood.

If one day is not enough to enjoy the ecological beauty of the place, you will not have any problem, since in La Parguera there are inns for all budgets.

The name “Parguera” derives from the Spanish fish name “Pargo”. The official English translation is “porgy”, but this fish name is also translated as “snapper”. Therefore, the word La Parguera means the “Land of the snapper” this is because of the large varieties and quantities of snapper fish on the coast.

How to get
Take PR 304 south, ends at La Parguera. When you get to the boardwalk, turn left where you will see the main parking lot. Here you will see signs for tour guides, and this is where the boat tours take off towards the bio-luminescent bay. If you need information, your best source is the friendly local owners of nearby hotels and restaurants.

La Parguera in Lajas Puerto Rico #puertorico #djimavic3 #laparguera

La Parguera is an idyllic seaside destination found in Puerto Rico's southwestern region. In the town's main square, you will find a lively atmosphere filled with food kiosks, live music, and beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea. Unlike the rest of the seaside destinations found around the island, La Parguera doesn't have any beaches, but instead, it is surrounded by pristine cays. You can reach the cays by renting your very own small boat or arranging transportation with any of the local tour providers. Some of La Parguera's most visited cays are Cayo Enrique, Mata La Gata, and Cayo Caracoles. One of the island's three bioluminescent bays is also located at La Parguera.

Lajas, Puerto Rico Sunset 2022 | Travel Puerto Rico

Sunset over Lajas, Puerto Rico December 2022

Enjoy the spectacular mountain top views overlooking the Lajas valley, Playita Rosada, and the village of La Parguera in Lajas, Puerto Rico during sunset.

Playita Rosada was a wood deck enclosed ocean pool. Playita Rosada was destroyed by Hurricane Fiona in September 2022, but we can still see what remains of the rectangle wood deck and partial bridge on the lower left corner.

There are great restaurants and bars throughout the village of La Parguera. It is a great spot for boating and kayaks. Water Taxi's can be hired to take you to the various small islands during the day for swimming and snorkeling.

Just past the cayos and islands is a reel wall about 60 feet below the surface for scuba diving.

Puerto Rico's Most Unique Places | Cayo Mata la Gata | Laguna Guaniquilla

Hi, and welcome to our channel. Today we are sharing with you some of Puerto Rico's most unique places in the southwest, Cayo Mata la Gata in Lajas and Guaniquilla Lagoon in Cabo Rojo. Lajas, PR is about a 2-hour drive from San Juan and Cabo Rojo is about 2 and a half hour.

***Remember to change YouTube settings to 4K for the best viewing experience!!***

Cayo Mata la gata: This mini paradise is surrounded by other cays named Enrique and Caracoles, which is a super popular one with the locals. Its L Shaped Dock makes for one of the most famous and biggest natural pools on the island.

Laguna Guaniquilla: Punta Guaniquilla nature reserve is maintained by the Fideicomiso de conservation de Puerto Rico, and para la Naturaleza, which does a great job in keeping this hidden paradise in pristine conditions.
With Dry forests predominating in this reserve, along with grasslands, mangroves and the Guaniquilla Lagoon, this other worldly scenery is just spectacular.
Sharp boulders with rough edges, huge white impressive rocks in the middle of a dark lagoon and impressive limestone formations makes this place a unique nature reserve in Puerto Rico.
In addition, its ecosystems provide habitats for numerous species of flora and fauna that are rare or that are currently critically endangered. The lagoon is known as an important place for bird-watching.
Laguna Guaniquilla certainly is among some of the most special places on the island. It is perfect for hiking, walking and getting back in touch with Nature. Definitively a must-visit!
