Aguas arriba de los conocidos Arribes del Duero existe otro espacio natural muy poco transitado, los cañones del Duero.
La zona comprende la ribera del Duero aguas arriba del límite con Portugal, entre la confluencia con el Esla y la ciudad de
Zamora, y sus cercanías. El territorio, situado a mediana altitud (700-800 metros), incluye los cantiles fluviales del río y sus
alrededores, donde aparecen algunos cultivos de secano y pastizales alternados con encinares y robledales generalmente poco
desarrollados pero bastante extensos. La existencia de numerosos arroyos crea algunos valles poco profundos donde aparecen
bosques de ribera en ocasiones bastante bien desarrollados. El espacio engloba el Embalse de Villalcampo, de escaso interés
para las aves acuáticas.
Destaca su fauna, con muchas especies en un entorno muy tranquilo y muy poco turístico.

developed but quite extensive. The existence of numerous streams creates some shallow valleys where they appear
riverside forests sometimes quite well developed. The space includes the Villalcampo Reservoir, of little interest
for water birds.
