The Canary Islands are located off the west coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean and Santa Cruz de Tenerife is it's joint capital! The city is the center of maritime industry and tourism and with sub tropical temperatures round the year, its easy to fall in love with this place.
Besides opting for one of the several low-cost airlines which serve the islands, you can also cruise your way here by taking a ferry from mainland Europe. Once arrived at the docks, it's a quick 5 minute walk to the center, which is also known as Plaza de Espana!
The plaza's location on the seafront makes it a good meeting place and a great starting point when exploring the city. The Plaza de Espana is a mega photo point for all the visiting tourists. There are several monuments here with the most distinctive being the memorial dedicated to the 39 residents of the island who fought and died on Franco's side in the Civil War in the 1930s.
As you can see, the center is so close to the marina and the ferry port that you can actually see the ships from here! Another nice thing about the city is that it's very WiFi friendly! In fact, the center is actually a free wifi zone set up by the town hall and I was told that on hot days, you'd often see locals and tourists alike sitting at a square with their feet dipped in water and tapping away on their smartphone screen for hours!
I really liked this location! It was also very close to the main shopping streets with several cafes and restaurants alongside.
The Market of Nuestra Señora de Africa - best place to buy the most fresh produce from this island for example bananas, tomatoes, papayas, cheese and so on. We'll go after exploring the walking street!
About the walking street, speaking to some locals I found out that this street has some really high end expensive shops and they're mostly aiming at the tourists i.e. the locals mostly come here for window shopping or for a casual stroll but not really for actual shopping. I think this is the same for most of the walking streets world wide! The locals are smart and they know better!
Anyway, did you know that Tenerife is home to more than one million people? Yeah, that's right. In fact, nearly half of the residents of Tenerife live in this city. For me this was hard to imagine because I hardly saw any people when traveling around the island away from the center!
It's a small island, travel time is less and there are excellent bus services to other parts of the island! So I think a lot can be done within a short time period! Also, I think 1 day is more than enough to explore Santa Cruz, what do you say?

Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife | One of the World’s First Tourist Destinations
Monika and I headed off on the Triumph Bonneville to one of the classiest towns in Tenerife, and the original tourist destination in the Canary Islands; Puerto de la Cruz. The north of Tenerife
With it’s pretty architecture, cobbled streets, coffee shops, shops, restaurants and bustling vibe, it’s got a fantastic atmosphere and is very different to the touristy south of the island.
Motorcycle parking is very easy and free everywhere, so you can ride into the heart of the city and you’ll find a motorbike parking bay. If you’re travelling by car, you will almost certainly need to use one of the car parks (very centrally located).
The north of Tenerife is much more lush and there is a strong digital nomad community in towns such as Puerto de la Cruz, La Laguna and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Not only is this a good winter sun destination, but it’s also I very good city break destination and would work for a three/four day trip from mainland Europe.
If you travel to Tenerife, I really recommend exploring Puerto de la Cruz. Most people tend to stay in the warmer south- places such as Costa Adeje, but this is a really nice place to spend a day or two.
Out of all of the more popular Canary Islands such as Gran Canaria, Fuerta Ventura, La Palma and Lanzarote, the town of Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife was the first tourist destination.

A visit to historical La Laguna (Tenerife's UNESCO World Heritage Town) ????????
My next stop on my visit to Tenerife was the UNESCO World Heritage-listed town of San Cristobal de La Laguna, one of Spain's most historic cities, located just 30 minutes from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the island's northeast coast.
Here, I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of sightseeing, admiring the architectural wonders of the area (most notably, the impressive Iglesia de la Concepcion and the magnificent Cathedral de La Laguna). There's a lot to see and do in this small suburb of the 'big city', and it's well worth a short stop on your next visit to Tenerife.

A lot of locals live here, so you have the opportunity to learn more about the life of the local population and get acquainted with their culture.
What to do in Puerto de la Cruz?

➡️Walk along the coast on both sides of the city
➡️Swim on the hardin black volcanic sand beach designed by Cesar Manriki.
➡️Go to the botanical garden.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, commonly abbreviated as Santa Cruz , is a major city, capital of the island of Tenerife, Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and capital (jointly with Las Palmas) of the Canary Islands. Santa Cruz has a population of 206,593 (2013) within its administrative limits. The urban zone of Santa Cruz extends beyond the city limits with a population of 507,306and 538,000 within urban area. Santa Cruz is located in the northeast quadrant of Tenerife, 210 kilometres (130 mi) off the northwestern coast of Africa within the Atlantic Ocean. Within a high valley in the north of Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Island’s set in the Atlantic Ocean, is the city of San Cristóbal De La Laguna.As evidence of a glorious past, the city centre contains several beautiful buildings such as the Town Hall, built of volcanic rock, and situated in the Plaza Del Adelantado which was named after the leader of the erstwhile, Conquista. Like a chessboard, the narrow streets are lined with many buildings and palaces that date back to earlier times and spacious courtyards that act as oases of silence. The old town contains the most well-preserved seventeenth and eighteenth century buildings on the island and in 1999 La Laguna’s historic centre was designated as a World Heritage Site.

This is our guests' favorite part of Puerto de la Cruz, according to independent reviews. They gave the location an excellent score of 9!
The Playa is just a 10 minute walk from the center of Puerto De La Cruz and one kilometer from the nearest golf course. Mount Teide National Park can be reached in 40 minutes by car.
All rooms at the Tenerife Playa are bright and air-conditioned. Each room has a TV and a full bathroom.

Is Santa Cruz de Tenerife Worth Visiting? (Exploring the Canary Islands' second-largest city) ????????
I wrapped up my visit to Tenerife with a day of sightseeing in the island's urban capital of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This city of a quarter-million people is a world away from the stale resort vibes of the island's south coast. Here, you'll find one of Spain's most vibrant and appealing urban centers, with verdant parks teeming with tropical plants, handsome fountains, and a laid-back seaside vibe.
From Santa Cruz, I booked a ticket on the fast ferry to the neighboring island of Gran Canaria. The 80-minute, 57 mile journey provided excellent views of the rugged north coast of Gran Canaria. From the port, it was a short 30 minute bus ride to Las Palmas, the largest city in the Canary Islands.

El Caletón (La Matanza de Acentejo).
El Caletón es una localidad costera del municipio de La Matanza de Acentejo (Tenerife, Canarias, España).
Alli se encuentran todo tipo de casas para fin de semana y vacaciones que utilizaban los habitantes de La Matanza, La Victoria y Santa Úrsula.
Cuenta con una pequeña playa urbana que tiene una zona de fondeo para barcos y que presenta una moderada afluencia de público y con una playa cuya longitud será de unos 60 metros de arena oscura y callaos con unas condiciones de baño de un oleaje moderado.

4* Hotel in toller Lage und mit schönem Ausblick
Top Hotel in bester Lage im Zentrum von Puerto de la Cruz, direkt am Strand und Lago Martianez. Personal sehr nett, die Anlage ganz gut, ein besseres Hotel gibt es in Puerto de la Cruz kaum. Die 4* sind verdient, aber es gibt auch Negatives: Zimmer sind eher klein, Badezimmer sehr eng, hellhörig und ohne richtige Lüftung. Fitnessraum sehr klein, aber mit tollem Ausblick. Die Gäste waren meistens ruhige Ältere über 50.
Lage & Umgebung
Tolle Lage direkt am Strand und Lago Martianez. Der Strand ist zwar eher für Surfer gedacht, aber zum Liegen ist der auch in Ordnung. In kürzester Umgebung ist alles zu finden. Ein Tag im Lago Martianez ist hier besonders zu empfehlen.
Zimmer
Mein Zimmer war ganz klein ohne Balkon. Das stand aber in der Beschreibung des Hotels, also da gibt es nichts zu meckern. Es gibt auch andere Zimmer mit Balkon natürlich. Zu meinem Zimmer mit Pool und Meerblick kann ich sagen, dass es für mich ausreichend war. Schlecht fand ich nur das Badezimmer, welches eher klein ist und sehr hellhörig war. Sonst gab es im Zimmer nichts zu trinken, nicht mal Wasser. Da habe ich es in den letzten Monaten bei RIU oder Gloria anders erlebt.
Service
Das Personal war sehr nett und immer anzusprechen. Sie fragten oft nach meinem Befinden und ob alles im Hotel stimmte. Das Check-In dauerte zwar etwas länger aufgrund eines Systemfehlers, ich konnte es aber gut überstehen.
Gastronomie
Das Essen war eher gut. Ich habe schon besseres Essen im 4 Sterne Hotels gehabt, aber im Vergleich zu BeLive Tenerife war das Essen hier etwas besser und auch warm. Die Bedienung war auch ganz nett.
Sport & Unterhaltung
Freizeitangebote habe ich nicht wahrgenommen, aber laut Plan gab es einige Aktivitäten täglich. Der Fitnessraum im 10. Stock hat sehr schönen Ausblick, ist aber eher klein.
