The island of Tenerife is the largest (2034 square kilometers) and the highest (3718 meters) of the Canary Islands, being also called the Island of Eternal Spring, because the temperatures here do not drop below 20°C and do not exceed 30°C.

La Orotava also has Hijuela del Botánico, - a garden which contains tropical plants from South America, Central Africa and Australia-, the Victoria gardens.
