Medellin, in northwest Colombia, is a mountain-ringed city of church bells, textile factories and legalized prostitution. However Medellin was not founded by Spain until 1616 by Francisco de Herrera Campusano, three quarters of a century later. Early development of Medellin began in what is modern day Poblano. It's speculated that the early settlers of Medellin were Spanish Jews, who were fleeing from the Inquisition. Medellin is a much bigger city with a metro population of over 3.7 million so it obviously has many more restaurants and nightlife options. Some 8,000 women practice the world's oldest profession. But the red-light zones on Medellin's outskirts are lively with lights, music, rum and beautiful women.

A 4-day trip to Colombia's best kept secret, Quebrada Las Gachas, and the beautiful small town of Guadalupe, Santander.
Guadalupe, Colombia, is a quiet rural town, just 5 hours from Bogotá by car. Guadalupe is a stunning and authentic feeling town and home to one of Colombia's most unknown gems - Las Gachas. Quebrada Las Gachas is the Santander region's answer to Canos Cristales, with its beautiful red and purple algae covering the top of this shallow river. Natural jacuzzis have formed in Quebrada Las Gachas with natural pools of different sizes and depth. You can stroll around and jump into the natural jacuzzi pools in Las Gachas free of charge and in the presence of barely any toursits. Guadalupe is one of the best places to visit in Colombia, with the town of Guadalupe a beautiful and traditional Colombian town and Quebrada Las Gachas one of the best natural phenomenons in Colombia - and relatively unknown by domestic or foreign tourists!

This is like a small version of Caños Cristales, except free to visit, easier to get to and with hardly any tourism. The holes in the river are as much as 8ft deep, and are called 'nature's jacuzzi', although the water is refreshingly cool after the hour hike through Colombian countryside from Guadalupe town to get there.

The TRUE MAGIC of Medellin | Waterfall Hiking (AMAZING!!!)
I recently went hiking to 2 amazing waterfalls located less than 1 hour from Medellin (30 minutes from Envigado) called Salto Angél (Angel Waterfall) and Chorro de Las Campanas (Bells Waterfall), and had such an incredible #adventure! We hiked for several hours through the dense rainforests along some very difficult terrain, but it was worth it when we reached the spectacular waterfalls!

SAFETY WARNING: If you plan to do this tour, always do so with an experienced guide. Please do not attempt to do this tour by yourself. There have been instances where solo hikers have gotten lost or seriously injured.
