The Kerala backwaters are the rather unappealing name given to
the peaceful and picturesque palm-lined network of lagoons,lakes, rivers, and canals that run inland from the coast of Kerala,from Kochi (Cochin) to Kollam (Quilon) in India.
Traditionally, the backwaters are used by locals for transport,fishing, and agriculture.
The lush green landscape, diverse wildlife, and houses and villages that line the backwaters make a journey along thesewaterways seem like a journey through another world. No wonder the backwaters is one of the must-visit tourist places in Kerala.
Getting to Alleppey From Kochi:Alleppey can easily be reached in just over two hours by prepaid taxi from Kochi or from Kochi airport. I chose to do a 6 hrs ride on a houseboat, but if you have time and a company you must do an overnight trip. Try to bargain as much as you can and maybe you'll end up with some good deal, lot of organisers are their in a Alleppey.

These are the top 10 Korean street foods you have to eat in Seoul, South Korea!
1. Tteok-Bokki
Dense, deep-fried rice cakes that are coated in a spicy, red gochujang sauce. You can find it everywhere in South Korea, but I suggest having a drier version at Tongin Market. It’s packed with chili flavor and is dense and super filling!
2. Korean Fried Chicken
Korean fried chicken is some of the best in the world. It’s organic and fresh, and comes in countless varieties. Try the sweet and sour dakgangjeong at Tongin Market and the standard fried chicken and sweet and spicy chicken at Oven Chicken and Beer!
3. Kimchi Mandu
These are phenomenal dumplings stuffed with spicy, fermented Korean cabbage (Kimchi). They also contain delicious pork and flavorful glass noodles. They are downright heavenly! Just give them a few minutes to cool off before you bite into them!
4. Hotteok
A Korean donut that’s fried up fresh and contains warm honey and velvety cream? Count me in! Try this amazing sweet treat at Tongin Market in Seoul. The filling is like molten lava, so resist the temptation to dive in right away. You don’t want to burn your mouth!
5. Gimbap
At Namdaemun Market, head down to the indoor, underground section to find these amazing rice and vegetable hand rolls. The carrots, radishes, and cucumbers are super crisp and pair well with the seaweed and rice. Don’t forget the soy sauce and wasabi!
6. Samgyeopsal
This amazing type of Korean barbecue consists of grilled pork belly, which is cooked right at your table. You take a few fatty, juicy strips and wrap them in a piece of lettuce with garlic and red pepper paste. It’s savory, super fresh, and bursting with flavor!
7. Kimchi-jeon
Kimchi-jeon is one of many varieties of savory Korean pancakes. Loaded with sour and spicy kimchi, with just enough batter to hold it together, this dish is nice and crunchy but never loses its freshness. It’s so good!
8. Sundubu Jjigae
Sundubu jjigae is a Korean stew that contains shrimp, squid, onions, leeks, cucumber, and silken tofu, and is so rich and flavorful. I made my own during a cooking class in Seoul and fell in love with it!
9. Potato-Crusted Hot Dog
A hot dog, coated in potatoes, and deep-fried until it’s golden brown. Head over to Namdaemun Market to try this unique hot dog on a stick. The crispy, fluffy potatoes and juicy hot dog are the perfect combination. Try it with some spicy sauce for a real kick of heat!
10. Sikhye
This is a cool, refreshing rice drink that’s similar to horchata de arroz or fresh sugarcane juice. It’s sweet and tasty and is said to also have health benefits. It also contains rice grains floating on the bottom!

Insanely Delicious Grilled Eel in South Korea! (Day 19)

On Day 19 of this South Korean food trip, we drove to Gochang, visiting the national park, ate some silkworms, and had some insanely delicious eel for lunch.
1:18 Seonunsan Provincial Park - 3,000 Won ($2.56) - Seonunsan Provincial Park is another beautiful national park in South Korea, and we started off the day by taking a short walk. Along the way, I had some Korean street food snacks including silkworms to give me energy for the walk. Again, I could say this over and over again, but the trees and nature scenery in South Korea during spring is beautiful.
4:38 Pungchango Eel (풍천장어) Restaurant Koch'ang (신덕식당) - The real reason that many Koreans come to Seonunsan Provincial Park is not necessarily just to enjoy a nice hike in the mountains, but the real treat is to eat eel! We pulled up to an eel restaurant and I had some of the best grilled eel I’ve ever had in my life, paired with raspberry wine. The grilled eel was absolutely spectacular, and especially when paired with all the banchan side dishes of our Korean meal. The raspberry wine also went very well with the full meal. Price - 26,000 Won ($22.18) per person.
11:20 Gusipo Beach, Gusipo Seawater Spa, Price - 11,000 Won ($9.38) per person - After the amazing eel meal experience, we drove over to Gusipo Beach and went to a traditional Korean seawater spa. It was very interesting.
13:47 Dukmanjae Hanok Hotel - We drove back to Jeonju, and for the last couple nights we moved to stay in the Hanok village of Jeonju, in a traditional Korean style home. We checked in, put our bags down, and then went to eat.
14:53 Chowon Super (전일슈퍼) for Dried pollack, dried cuttlefish (armored squid) - Total price - 30,600 Won ($26.10) - For our first stop we went to a place called Chowon Super (전일슈퍼), which is a bar, mostly serving drinks, but also famously serving drived pollack which is then grilled. It makes an amazing snack.
18:03 KyoChon Fried Chicken, Total price - 40,500 Won ($34.55) - For our final dinner of the night, we headed over to KyoChon, a restaurant chain that’s well known throughout Korea for serving fried chicken.
It was an excellent day in South Korea, and by far the best thing about the day was the insanely delicious eel - it was one of my favorite meals of this entire trip to South Korea!
