Knysna South Africa - The Heart of the Garden Route | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
Located on South Africa’s famous Garden Route, Knysna (pronounced as ‘ny-zah’), is one of the country’s most famous locations. It is a natural paradise of lush, indigenous forests, tranquil lakes, wildlife and golden beaches. The breathtakingly pretty lagoon is now a protected marine reserve that is home to the extraordinary sea horse and over 200 species of fish.
The endangered Knysna seahorse is named after the town and can be spotted during a good snorkeling session in the estuary.
We really enjoyed the view from the heads - a striking geological spot made up of a pair of huge, brightly coloured cliffs lying at the mouth of the lagoon, flanking a channel of potentially treacherous water that flows into Knysna lagoon. We were told that from the banks of the rocks we could see whales because Knysna is on the migratory route of the Southern Right and other species but unfortunately we weren't able to see one these marine mammals.

South Africa, Knysna, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn - Garden Route South Africa Part2 - South Africa Travel
Drive through Southern Coast of South Africa. A perfect Garden Route road trip along coastal line of South Africa. This South Africa travel series covers the key destinations starting from Johannesburg to Cape Town.
South Africa also follow left hand driving, so driving was quite easy. The road following the coast line is extremely good and people in general drive safe and slow inside the towns and colonies. Our Indian driving license was good enough to rent a car from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. We dropped it in Cape town before taking the flight from there. But yes, just to be little more relaxed we did purchase insurance for any damage to the car.

Two impressive sandstone cliffs known as The Heads flank the magnificent lagoon of Knysna on the South African coast close to the Indian Ocean. The Knysna Lagoon is not only popular with tourists as the combination of both salt and freshwater from the Outeniqua Mountains also attracts many endangered species of fish. The lagoon is home to the rare Knysna Seahorse that is otherwise known as the Hipocampus Capensis. Moving inland from the estuary and the two Heads the water becomes increasingly calm. Indeed it is difficult to believe that only a few kilometres away lies one of the most treacherous and feared coastlines in the world. But beyond the lagoon's rocks and boulders all is peaceful and idyllic, a place where ornithologists can observe a large variety of birdlife. Due to its magnificent location close to forests, mountains and ocean in addition to its increasing number of leisure facilities, Knysna is one of South Africa's most popular Garden Route destinations.

SOUTH AFRICA'S ROUTE 62 - BEST SCENIC ROAD TRIP - Cape Town to Knysna.
????️ Did you know that South Africa has its own little Route 66?
It's called Route 62 and is a scenic drive from the Eastern to the Western Cape, that passes through some of the world's most famous vineyards and farmlands.
????In this video, we unexpectedly happen to pass through part of this Route to go from Cape Town to Knysna, where we visit the unique land formations that allow for the protection of the lagoon for sailors along the southern African coast... and Carlotta almost got stuck in a cave.
????We then visit the unique Wild Oats market, in Sedgfield, which goes on every Saturday and it's unmissable if you're around the area and you want to discover the local produce, arts, and crafts. Follow their updates on their Facebook page:
