When I research new bike trails to ride I use the AllTrails app (love it!) for discovery and YouTube to see what the trail looks like. Many times, any questions I may have (What does the trail look like? How well taken care of is the trail? How wide is the trail? Does it look like a trail we can pull a kids trailer on? How does the new detour go? Are there many places to stop? Where does it tend to flood? How does this trail connect to that trail?) can be answered by a simple video like this. Unfortunately there are a lot of trails that I can’t find videos on or they are way out of date. Hopefully this video will help others who may want to quickly see a trail to decide if it’s a good fit for their ride style.

Walk with us 45N 90W GEOGRAPHICAL MARKER Rietbrock Geo Mark North Central Wisconsin Wausau Area
Walk with us as we pay a visit to the 45 x 90 Geographical Marker site and join the official 45 x 90 Club. This unique spot is halfway between the Equator and the North Pole, a quarter of the way around the planet, and halfway between Greenwich Meridian and the International Date Line. This unique landmark is located in Poniatowski, Wisconsin right outside Wausau. It is listed in some places as Athens, WI. No matter who says what, just know this area is in a very rural spot on the Wisconsin Map!
Proclaimed The Center of the Northwestern World in the early 1970's, the site was renovated in September of 2017 and includes a crushed gravel pathway lined with woods and a corn field, that leads visitors to the marker, approximately 1,000 ft from the road. A new bronze marker has been placed on the exact intersection of 45 x 90. This spot is literally in the center of a farmer's field! Only four of these hemispheric points exist on the earth and the point in Marathon County is the most accessible as two points are located in oceans (Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean) and one point is located in a mountainous region in China. So our great state has the one and only spot on the planet that can be explored easily!
To become a member of the Official 45 x 90 Club, pay a visit to the marker (21 miles west of Wausau), take a photo, then stop at the Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention & Visitors (Visitor Center) at 219 Jefferson Street in downtown Wausau. Upon signing the official Club Book, you will receive a quality two-sided coin as your member token. It is definitely an impressive piece of memorabilia!
NOTE! Google Maps & Apple Maps may send you several miles North of the actual site. Instead of typing the address, type in 45x90 Geographical Marker. Call the visitor center at 715-355-8788 if you are having any problems locating it.
The area is actually marked quite well when you find your way to the parking lot. The trail is
