Cappadocia incorporates parts of the cities of Aksaray, Nevşehir, Niğde, Kayseri and Kırşehir. For most people, the name Cappadocia suggests the towns of Uçhisar, Göreme, Avanos, Ürgüp, Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı and Ihlara, where the land has been shaped into fantastic forms over the course of millions of years. Fairy chimneys that seem mysterious and cities and houses of worship that extend many meters deep into the earth are all enveloped in an atmosphere that is ethereal and unworldly.
Göreme Open Air Museum
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985, Göreme casts its enigmatic charm for miles. The churches carved into these soft rocks sit still with mystery intact.
Göreme thought to have been used as a necropolis by the inhabitants of Venessa (Avanos) during Roman times. The churches of Durmuş Kadir, Yusuf Koç, El Nazar, Saklı, Meryem Ana (Virgin Mary) and Kılıçlar cast a spellbinding effect on visitors. The Göreme Open Air Museum is where the ideas of Christianity were unified by St Basil the Great and his brothers. The architectural details and frescoes of the Tokalı church, Convent of Monks and Nuns, Chapel of St Basil, and the St. Barbara, Elmalı, Yılanlı, Karanlık and Çarıklı churches seem as alive today as when they were new.
Uçhisar
Imagine a gigantic, porous rock stretching towards the sky and now imagine you are standing on top of that said rock. If you are not in a plane, a balloon or a hawk, the best spot you will soak in the geography would be here, Uçhisar Castle. Uçhisar also has one of the most beautiful walking paths of Cappadocia going right through Pigeon Valley. You should wander through the tunnels opened up by the streams mighty flow, while listening to the pigeons flapping their wings as they leave their nest and saunter through the giant formations in the valley in awe, for knowing that they were sculpted by no one but the nature itself. Today, the castle is surrounded by shops and stalls, selling many souvenirs such as carpets, marble ornaments, mirrors and of course flavorsome dried nuts and fruits keeping you company.
Avanos
Its unusual livelihood is what makes Avanos (Vanessa) intriguing. As the Kızılırmak has made its way flowing patiently through Avanos, the soft and oily clay sourced from the former riverbeds have been the highlight here –making Avanos the home of pottery dating way back to the Hittites. Each individual flaw in clay brings out the authentic beauty in these handmade pieces, then colored in earthy tones and of course turquoise. You can always join a pottery workshop and create your own “happy accident”, shop goodies in lively bazaars and lighten your mood by the riverside.
Red Valley (Kızıl Vadi)
Every other spot here serves the best dreamy sunset, but one sets itself apart from every other: Red Valley. Located just near Çavuşin Village and Ortahisar, Red Valley draws the most romantic and unforgettable moments as the sky takes on crimson red tones. Visitors are encouraged to start their walk through the rare formations red tuff creates just before sunset and take their place at the viewing terrace just at the right moment, to soak in the glamour.

HOŞAP KALESİ GEZİSİ VAN/REHBER ANLATIMIYLA KALE GEZİSİ
Van'ın Gürpınar ilçesinde, Van-Hakkari karayolu üzerindeki Hoşap(Güzelsu)'da yer almaktadır. Hoşap, Van'a 60 km, Gürpınar ilçe merkezine ise 40 km uzaklıkta bulunmaktadır. Hoşap Suyu’nun kuzeybatısında sarp ve dik bir kaya kütlesi üzerine kurulan kale, iç kale ile bunun kuzeyindeki dış kaleden oluşmaktadır. Geçmişi itibariyle Urartu Devletine kadar uzanan kale, Osmanlı Devleti'ne tabi Mahmudi Beyleri'nin yaptırdığı şekliyle günümüze ulaşmıştır. İç kale giriş kapısı üzerindeki kitabesine göre Mahmudi Süleyman Bey tarafından, H. 1052 (1643) tarihinde yaptırılmıştır. Dış kale surları arazinin yapısına göre şekillenmiş doğu, kuzey ve batıdan dolanan surlarla çevrelenmiştir. Doğu surları kısmen, batıdakiler ise büyük ölçüde yıkılmış durumdadır. Surları destekleyen burçlardan bazıları günümüze gelmiş, ayrıca doğu ve batıdaki kapıları tamamen yıkılmıştır. Dış kalenin kuzeydoğusunda bir gözetleme kulesi yer almaktadır. İçerisinde bugün bir cami kalıntısı ile köy evleri mevcuttur. İç kale, güneyden sarp, kuzeyden eğimli bir kütle üzerine kurulmuştur. Kuzey, doğu ve batıdan kale beden duvarları, burç, ve kulelerle tahkim edilmiş, kuzeydoğuya ikinci bir tahkimat yapılmıştır. Kaleye, kuzey tarafta, ortaya yakın bir yerde bulunan giriş burcuna açılmış bir kapı vasıtasıyla girilmektedir. Taç kapı şeklinde düzenlenmiş burcun batı cephesinde kitabe, kör pencere ve aslan kabartmaları belirli bir hareketlilik sağlamaktadır. Ayrıca orijinal demir kapı kanatları hala işlevini sürdürmektedir. İçerisinde Mahmudi Sarayı olarak nitelenen kompleks yapılar yer almaktadır. Bunlar kalenin güney tarafında sıralanmaktadır. En üst ve doğu kesimde seyir köşkü, bunun hemen batısında harem ve en batı uçta da selamlık yer almaktadır. Mescid, zindan, fırın ve sarnıç iç kalenin diğer yapılarıdır. XIX. yüzyıl ortalarında terkedilmiş olan kale, içerisindeki yapılarıyla günümüze büyük ölçüde sağlam olarak gelmiştir. Yerleşim tarih boyunca çeşitli yönetimlerin egemenliğinde olmasından ya da birçok halkın yaşamasından kaynaklı olarak çeşitli adlandırmalar almıştır. Bizanslılar dönemindeki kaynaklarda Payper, Paypert ve Babert olarak yerleşimden bahsedilmiştir. Arap kaynaklarında Bâbirt (بابرت) adıyla görülen Ortaçağ dönemi Ermeni kayıtlarında Payberd(Բաբերդ), 1291 yılında II. Mesud adına basılan sikkede Baypırt, Akkoyunlularla ilgili yakın zamanlı yayınlarda Pâpîrt (پاپيرت), yerleşimi gören İtalyan seyyah Marco Polo’nun kitabında Paipurth ve Osmanlılarda Bayburd (بايبورد) şeklinde yerleşim adlandırılmıştır. Berd, Ermenice kale anlamına gelmekle birlikte yerleşimin tam etimolojik anlamı bilinmemektedir. Evliya Çelebi eseri olan seyahatnamesinde tarihi kronolojiyle çok uymayacak şekilde, Akkoyunlu beylerinin Danişmetlilerle birlikte tarihi Horasan bölgesindeki Mahan diyarından Anadolu’da Bayburt dolaylarına geldiklerinde hazine ve maden bularak zenginleştikleri ve eski Türkçe’de zengin anlamına gelen “bay” oldukları, bunun sonucunda da yerleşime Bay-yurd adını verdiklerini belirtmiştir.
1927’ye kadar Erzurum’a bağlı olan Bayburt, bu tarihte Gümüşhane’ye bağlı bir ilçe oldu. 21.06.1989 tarihinde Bayburt ilinin kurulmasıyla da ilin merkez ilçesi oldu.
Bayburt yüzölçümü ve nüfusu itibarıyla Türkiye'nin en küçük illerinden biridir. Yüzölçümü bakımından 81 il içerisinde 74. sıradadır.

Hello again from TURKEY! This is our last STREET FOOD IN TURKEY video from the series, and we had an AMAZING time here. Today, we are showing you the BEST Turkish food Cappadocia has to offer and also bring you on a hot air ballon flight, and take you to Göreme National Park for breathtaking views over this crazy place.
We are starting early in the morning for a hot air balloon flight with Voyager Balloons. We took their Ultra Comfort Flight (75 mins/8 people max.) and our pilot Ali was knowledgable, fun and kept us up to date with how high we were flying. The flight was SO smooth, the sunrise was gorgeous and it was a UNIQUE experience! We highly recommend Voyager Balloons!
After our flight, we were HUNGRY and ready to eat CAPPADOCIA FOOD. The local specialties are Mantı (Turkish dumplings) and Testi kebab (pottery kebab). The mantı were stuffed with beef, covered in a sour yogurt sauce and chili oil. Traditionally mantı are made to be extremely small. The testi kebab was sealed in a pottery vessel and lit on fire. The restaurant owner then cracks it open and pours out the DELICIOUS stew. Beef, onions, tomatoes and tons of spices make up this dish. We tried testi kebab in other tourist restaurants in Cappadocia and it was terrible. YOU MUST check out THIS restaurant - the kebab was flavourful, the portion was large and service was very friendly!
Next, we visit and explore the national park to see the fairy chimneys up close. It was a beautiful sight to see these landscapes. Before heading to our “cave room”, we stopped to pick up another local specialty - CAPPADOCIA WINE! Cappadocia is famous for their endemic grapes and the caves allow wine to be stored in ideal conditions, so the wine here is fantastic. We picked up a Kalecik Karası and enjoyed a glass from our private terrace of our cave room.

Chef Fatih Tutak is Turkey's first 2-Michelin Star chef in Istanbul and promotes the best of Turkish cuisine around the world! At the Chefs table, Culinary Director Chef OGÜN KOCA is behind the pass making sure each course comes out perfect. Tasting Menu came out with 11 courses in total. And a unique experience is, during the dessert course, you get a kitchen tour along with extra desserts right inside the kitchen.

Exploring BALACLAVA, Victoria, Australia | Lunch at Tulum, Amazing Turkish Restaurant
In this new series of exploring Melbourne suburbs, we're visiting Balaclava, an inner suburb of Melbourne, 7km south of the CBD. This suburb is also well known for the Jewish community, as there are many Jewish people living in this suburb.
The video style would be a bit different from our usual guide style. In this series, we don't do much research and just take time to stroll around the popular streets of the suburb and absorb and enjoy the vibe.
We started off with a cup of coffee and a pastry from a well-known coffee shop and a famous patisserie shop on the main shopping strip of the suburb, Carlisle Street.
We then had a very nice (and fancy, almost fine-dining style) lunch at Tulum. A very popular modern Turkish restaurant owned by a celebrity chef who appeared on Masterchef Australia TV series a few times, Coskun Uysal. We booked via The Fork app which has a promotion running in May to get 50% off the set menu. Totally worth the price!!
After lunch, we strolled around Carlisle Street, to see the shops and in the hope of finding landmarks and historical buildings. We didn't realise that the day during our visit was a Saturday, which is Jewish's Sabbath Day. They don't normally work on that day, which explains why all the Jewish own businesses were closed.
Finally, for our last spot, we visited a one-of-a-kind cafe, Levanter cafe, which specialises in Syrian food and drinks. We tried their Syrian-style coffee which was pretty much the same style as Turkish coffee. Highly recommended!
