Юртовый лагерь - экзотическое место, где можно переночевать в настоящих юртах (национальных жилищах кочевников), погрузившись в натуральную пустынную реальность вдали от цивилизации.
Прогулки на верблюдах по пустыне Кызылкум. Местные верблюды (двугорбые бактрианы) одомашнены и обучены для верховой езды.
Ущелье Сармыш, где было обнаружено около 4000 наскальных рисунков предположительно каменного и бронзового века.
Город Нурата, расположенный на границе Нуратинских гор и пустыни. Здесь можно посетить священный источник Чашма и крепость Александра Македонского, а также увидеть традиционные ирригационные системы - кяризы, до сих пор доставляющие в долину подземные воды с Нуратинского хребта.

Yurt camp is an exotic place where you can spend the night in real yurts (national dwellings of nomads), immersed in a natural desert reality far from civilization.
Camel rides in the Kyzylkum desert. Local camels (two-humped Bactrians) are domesticated and trained for riding.
Sarmysh gorge, where about 4000 rock paintings of presumably Stone and Bronze Age were discovered.
The city of Nurata, located on the border of the Nurata mountains and the desert. Here you can visit the sacred spring of Chashma and the fortress of Alexander the Great, as well as see the traditional irrigation systems - kyarizes, which still deliver groundwater to the valley from the Nurata Range.

Part 142 - Jizzax to Gulistan, Uzbekistan - World Cycle Tour - 2018
Thursday 2nd August.
Jizzax to Gulistan.
Today we covered 110 km which is our longest distance in a single day. The conditions however were favourable with flat roads and light winds so it didn’t require too much effort.
We are now dividing our day into three cycling sessions. 40 km before breakfast, 40 more until lunch and then the remaining 30 km after a long rest at midday. The sun is quite strong so we avoid cycling between 12:00 - 15:00.

The town of Jizzakh lies at the northern foot of Nuratau mountains, in the southern part of the Hungry Steppe, near the Sanzar River. The town was founded in the 10th century as a staging post on the Silk Road. The trade route from Ustrushana passing through Jizzakh was one of the most important in the Silk Road for the Ustrushan nephritis, so popular in the West.
Jizzakh is located in a beautiful place. On the one hand, there are severe mountains of Nurata, at the foot of which the Sanzar River flows, on the other hand, there is the Hungry Steppe, which seems endless. The peculiar nature of Jizzakh features a variety of natural landscapes, which combine the unique elements of shape and climate. Favorable geographical conditions contributed to the foundation of ancient settlements and fortresses. Today you can find ruins of these settlements traveling along the Sanzar river.
Jizzakh could rightly be considered one of the busiest trade cities on the Silk Road. In the Middle Ages Mirasmand near Jizzakh was famous for the international bazaar trading with woolen fabrics and clothing, silk fabrics, jewelry, and metal items and Ustrushan nephritis. For centuries, people have mined the iron ore in the Nuratau Mountains, so even today you can find remnants of ancient sites and settlements of the miners.
Jizzakh is translated from Sogdian as a fortress or small fort, which describes the history of this town. Jizzakh, like many other cities in Central Asia, had to endure a lot of conquests, but every time it was rebuilt. The Mongol invasion almost completely destroyed the fortresses of the town. During the reign of Tamerlane, the town was rebuilt and became even greater than in former times. But it did not stop Sheybanikhan to destroy it during the conquest of Mawarannahr.
Today mountain woodland of Zaamin and Bakhmal with their breathtaking canyons and swift mountain streams are a paradise for active tourists and extreme enthusiasts.

Toshkent—Samarqand t. y. va Katta Oʻzbekiston trakti yoqasida. Mayd. 0,7 ming km2. Aholisi 132,5 ming kishi (2000; 1939-y. — 9 ming, 1959-y. — 15 ming, 1970-y. — 35 ming kishi), asosan oʻzbeklar; rus, tatar, ukrain, eroniy va b. ham yashaydi. Toshkentdan 203 km. T. y. stansiyasi. Iqlimi keskin kontinental. Yanv. ning oʻrtacha t-rasi 1,5°, minimum t-ra —35°, iyulning oʻrtacha t-rasi 28,5°, maksimum t-ra —46°.
Yunon solnomachilari Kiropol va Gazoni alohida tilga olishadi. Arxeologlar Gazo sh. ning oʻrnini aniq va asosli tayin etmasalarda, tarixiy manbalarda uni Samarqand va Toshkent oraligʻida joylashganligi aytiladi. Olimlar Gazoni kad. Jizzax deb taxmin qiladilar. Toponimist olimlar Jizzax nomini sugʻdiycha «Dizak» («qalʼacha») soʻzi b-n bogʻlaydilar. Tarixda u Dizax nomi b-n yuritilgan.
J. Oʻrta Osiyodan oʻtgan bir necha qad. karvon yoʻlining tutashgan joyida vujudga kelgan. Yozma manbalarda ilk bor arab geograf olimlari va sayyoxlaridan Ibn Havkal va Muqaddasiplarning asarlarida Ustrushonaning Faknon viloyatidagi shaxar deb tilga olinadi. Shahar arablar istilosidan oldin ham mavjud boʻlgan.
Jizzax 9—10-a. larda somoniylar, 11 — 13-a. boshida qoraxoniylar, Xorazm shohlar davlati, 14 — 15-a. larda temuriylar davlati, 16—18-a. 1-yarmida Buxoro xonligi, 18-a. 2-yarmidan 1866-y. gacha Buxoro amirligiga tobe boʻlgan. Shahar bir necha marta inqirozga uchrab, yana qayta tiklangan. 16—17-a. larda aholi hoz. eski bozordagi Oʻratepaga koʻchgan. 19a. 60-y. larida u xam xarobaga aylangan. Keyinchalik yana tiklangan. 19-a. 2-yarmidan Turkiston general gubernatorligi tarkibiga kiritilgan. Uzbekistan Day 3: Tashkent to Samarkand - Food Road Trip Uzbekistan!
On Day 3 we packed up in Tashkent, and made our way driving to Samarkand, one of the most historically significant cities in all of Uzbekistan, and Central Asia. But this is not the Samarkand food and history tour yet, this is the the journey to get there, which involved some incredible food stops along the way.
Chinoz Fish Market - One of my favorite Uzbek meals of the trip was at the fish bazaar on the way to Samarkand. There are a series of restaurants to choose from, located just a stone's throw from one of the biggest rivers in the country. You choose your fish, it was carp, then she hacked it into small pieces, and deep fried it to a crisp. But the real unique aspect of this style of Uzbek fried fish was that she took garlic in water, and tossed it all over the fried fish right out of the oil. Something I’ve never seen before, and it was quite fascinating to see. Fish was great.

Melons Stop - Melons are native to Central Asia and they are naturally some of the sweetest and some of the best tasting in the world. They were for sure the sweetest best tasting melons I’ve ever had in my life.
Afsona Jizzax Somsa - Next stop on this Uzbekistan food road trip was to eat a giant somsa (samosa). Now you have probably already seen that you can’t really go a day in Uzbekistan without eating a somsa, and that’s a good thing because they are delicious. But these are super sized, filled with ½ kg. Of mutton and onions, and cooked in the tandoori oven. To eat these speciality somsa you add in some type of oil and tomato sauce.
Samarkand, Uzbekistan - Finally in the evening we arrived to Samarkand, and just along the highway we caught a glimpse of the mighty building and history of the city.
Samarkand Restaurant - Food here was alright. We ordered a sharing kebab tray.
Total price - 227,000 ($28)
