Today I’m sharing the top five things to do if you take a trip to St. George, the national parks, or anywhere in southern Utah!
There are so many great things to see and fun experiences to have when you visit this beautiful area of the country. With my best friend living in Salt Lake City, and Derek’s aunt and uncle retired in St. George, we’ve managed to visit this region a lot over the past five years. And this year we spent an entire month!

Want to explore the city like a local? We highlight a number of the best activities, hiking trails, and places to go while visiting St. George, Utah. St. George is a top destination in Utah and still an underrated place for outdoor enthusiasts with plenty of hiking trails, golf courses, scenic views and so much more.
Snow Canyon State Park is located right near the city (only a 15-minute drive) and offers plenty of hiking, camping and exploration activities.
The city was named for 19th century Morman LDS Church apostle George A. Smith. But settlers were here long before the Morman faith decided to seek the desert sun. The city is conveniently located near Zion National park and is only 90 minutes away from the iconic Las Vegas, Nevada.
Beyond those nearby landmarks, the city is well-suited for other day or weekend trips with places like Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Great Basin and Capitol Reef only located a 2-3.5 hours drive from St. George.

The 10 Best Places To Live In Utah 2022 - Education, Job, Retiree
With a combined 13 national parks and monuments, breathtaking views of snow-covered mountain peaks,
and countless artistic havens of culture and commerce, Utah is a great place for your family.
Utah, with a population of just under 3.5 million in 2022, is the 4th fastest growing state in the nation.
It has some of the world's greatest scenery.
That, combined with its outstanding recreational opportunities and healthy economy, attracts young outdoor enthusiasts,

Snow Canyon Overlook Trail, Ivins, Utah
This 4.9 out and back hike rewards you with one of the best overlook views you can hope for. The trail up to the overlook isn't super scenic, but is mostly up hill with 524 feet of gain to get your heart pumping. We suggest you wear hiking boots with ankle support, as the terrain is very rocky and uneven. Dogs are welcome, even off leash.
