Medellín, officially the Municipality of Medellín, is the second-largest city in Colombia, after Bogotá, and the capital of the department of Antioquia. It is located in the Aburrá Valley, a central region of the Andes Mountains in South America. According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics, the city had an estimated population of 2,508,452 according to the 2018 census. With its surrounding area that includes nine other cities, the metropolitan area of Medellín is the second-largest urban agglomeration in Colombia in terms of population and economy, with more than 4 million people.

Medellin, in northwest Colombia, is a mountain-ringed city of church bells, textile factories and legalized prostitution. However Medellin was not founded by Spain until 1616 by Francisco de Herrera Campusano, three quarters of a century later. Early development of Medellin began in what is modern day Poblano. It's speculated that the early settlers of Medellin were Spanish Jews, who were fleeing from the Inquisition. Medellin is a much bigger city with a metro population of over 3.7 million so it obviously has many more restaurants and nightlife options. Some 8,000 women practice the world's oldest profession. But the red-light zones on Medellin's outskirts are lively with lights, music, rum and beautiful women.

We are at Parque Itagüí today taking a walk during the daytime.
Itagüí is just south of Medellín. It is right below Guayabal (Comuna 15) in Medellín and stretches pretty far south, towards the southern end of the Medellin metro.
According to legend, Itagüí got its name from Bitagüí, the chief of the native tribe that once inhabited the area. In the 20th century, Itagüí experienced rapid growth due to increased number of factories and industrialization.
Itagüí is also known for its nightlife and its bars and clubs typically can stay open later than those located in Medellin. It is often known as an after hours spot.
Itagüí also has some of the cheaper prices in terms of clothing, rivaling the stores of El Hueco. The area around Itagüí's Centro de la Moda off Carrera 52D attracts many shoppers in the Antioquia region looking for good sales.
