San Agustín - Huila: qué visitar en este destino arqueológico de Colombia
Declarado como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, la zona arqueológica de San Agustín, al sur de Colombia, es uno de los principales atractivos turísticos de Colombia, donde se encuentra el mayor grupo de monumentos religiosos y esculturas en piedra de toda Suramérica, en medio de un paisaje natural único, en las verdes montañas de Los Andes. En este video se hace un recorrido por los principales lugares arqueológicos de la zona, mostrando qué se puede encontrar en cada uno de ellos.

Colombia - San Agustin Archaeological Site
San Agustín Archaeological Park is an archaeological site in San Agustín, Huila, Colombia. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The site contains the largest collection of religious monuments and megalithic sculptures in Latin America and is considered the world's largest necropolis. The origin of the carvers remains a mystery, as most of the site is unexcavated, and no writings have been discovered yet. Some archeologists estimate a carving date of the 6th century B.C., while others believe that they were erected just prior to the Spanish Conquest. Several of the statues are of animals such as gorillas or African elephants and others wear turbans. The statues vary in height, the tallest being 7.0 meters. They are suspected to be funeral statuary. In other regions of the archaeological site where large burial mounds are located, you will see more intimidating figures such as snakes, frogs, and birds strategically place to stand guard for increased protecting during the afterlife. Statues of deities or carving on the ground, of both solar gods, males, and lunar gods, females. Theses figures and statues provide researchers with a little insight to what this civilization thoughts and perception of life and death are. [Wikipedia]

Ciudad Perdida consists of a series of 169 terraces carved into the mountainside, a network of tiled roads, and several small circular plazas. The entrance can be accessed only by climbing up 1,200 stone steps through dense jungle.

San Agustín is a town in the Andes Mountains of western Colombia. It’s known for its proximity to the San Agustín Archaeological Park, home to numerous pre-Columbian remains spread over several sites. The San Agustín Archaeological Park carved volcanic stone figures and tombs litter the Forest of Statues, amid native trees and flowers and is considered the world's largest necropolis. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In addition to the main archaeological park in San Agustín, there are two further independent sites, the Heights of the Idols (Alto de los Ídolos) and the Heights of the Stones (Alto de las Piedras), which are located in the municipality of Isnos, a few kilometers from San Agustín.
Nearby, the Lavapatas Spring’s rock bed is scored with ceremonial water channels and reptilian shapes.
The source of the Magdalena River is located not far south of San Agustin, and the Magdalena Strait – Estrecho del Magdalena – is known as the narrowest point of Colombia’s mightiest river.

Conociendo La iMPRESIONANTE Cascada Salto Del Mortiño Desde La Parte De Abajo Del Cañon
Al sur del departamento del Huila, cerca del municipio de Isnos, se localiza el Salto de Mortiño, una cascada de 200 metros del atura.
Este imponente salto es considerado uno de las mejores de Sudamérica. Y no es para menos, sus chorros de agua cristalina bajan con velocidad en medio de una frondosa montaña, ofreciendo un espectáculo natural sin precedentes.
El Salto del Mortiño es uno de esos lugares que se deben visitar, por lo menos, una vez en la vida. Te aseguramos que este paisaje quedará grabado en tu mente por mucho tiempo.

San Jose de Isnos - Páramo del Puracé , Coconuco, Cauca V-Strom abs
El Parque Nacional Natural Puracé se encuentra en la reserva de biosfera del cinturón andino, región del macizo colombiano perteneciente a la Cordillera Central de los Andes en Colombia. Su superficie hace parte de los departamentos del Cauca y del Huila. Su altitud es de 4646 msnm; dentro del parque se encuentra el volcán Puracé, que es uno de los volcanes más activos de Colombia.1
Dentro del paisaje de este Parque Natural, se levanta imponente el volcán Puracé, parte de la cadena volcánica de los Coconucos. También se engloba parte del Macizo Colombiano, donde nacen cuatro de los ríos más caudalosos de Colombia: Magdalena, Cauca, Caquetá y Patía.

Hoy les comparto el penúltimo vídeo de la ruta al Cuy, la vía entre Popayan y el corregimiento de Purace en el departamento del Cauca, con el fin de subir hasta el volcán purace pero debido a la actividad del volcán está restringida su ingresó.
