Today we invite you to a beautiful walking tour in Icod de los Vinos in Tenerife in the Canary Islands in Spain.
Icod de los Vinos is located in the northeastern part of Tenerife, 25 kilometers from the city of Puerto de la Cruz.
Icod de los Vinos was founded in the 15th century on the site of a Guanche settlement, so it is quite an ancient and atmospheric place. A small town where there are few cars and it is pleasant to walk, especially with children. The surroundings are buried in the greenery of vineyards.
Vinos is famous for its majestic dragon tree.
Dragon tree (Dracaena dracaena) is the real scientific name of this plant, although it comes from a legend. The Canarians believe that such huge trees grow in places where the blood of the dragon was shed. Literally out of nothing, a tree with roots like veins appeared here, a tree of love, light and kindness, in which the essence of eternal life from the heart of the dragon forever remained. Dragons are either mythical creatures or dinosaurs.
In fact, this tree is not so ancient. Scientists have proven that the symbol of the Canary Islands is about 300 years old. But even this age of the plant and the unusual appearance are very impressive. The height of its crown is about 20 meters, the girth is from 9 to 15 meters. The resin of the Dragon tree is red, which allegedly confirms its bloody origin. Dragon's blood is one of the oldest medicines on earth, and this is a fact. During archaeological excavations, it was found in the caves of prehistoric people, it was successfully used in medical practice, in magical and religious rites by the ancient Egyptians.
Dragons were hunted by ancient rulers in order to gain eternal life. But don't try to get it yourself. This tree, along with the giant pine, is considered sacred here. Yes, and according to legend, the blood, obtained by criminal means, lost the magical power of omnipotence and immortality, miraculous properties left it, it was filled only with pain and sorrow.

El Parque del Drago es un parque y una de las principales atracciones turísticas de Icod de los Vinos, Tenerife. Creado en el cambio de milenio, contiene El Drago Milenario, un drago que se cree que tiene alrededor de 1.000 años, así como una variedad de otras plantas nativas.
El Drago Milenario
El parque tiene un área de alrededor de 3 hectáreas (7,4 acres). Alberga El Drago Milenario, el ejemplar más antiguo y de mayor tamaño de Dracaena draco que existe, y uno de los símbolos de Tenerife, que se estima tiene entre 800 y 1.000 años.
