Visiting Jensen Beach Florida at Hutchinson Island and Hotel
Visiting Jensen Beach, Florida along the Atlantic Ocean the views here are pristine! The area known as Hutchinson Island has an many great areas to experience the beach with nice hotels and restaurants. The hotel featured in this video was the Courtyard by Marriott Hutchinson Island Oceanside/Jensen Beach. The hotel has nice rooms with views, a pool and hot tub area with bar. There is a lounge inside where you can get coffee and breakfast. The hotel also has a fitness room. Beach access is right off of hotel property along the boardwalk. Next door is a really nice restaurant. If you visit this area this is a nice play to stay with close access to all of the nice sites around the town and beaches. Lots of sights to see and things to do around this quaint and relaxing town in Florida. Jensen was founded once was known as the Pineapple Capital of the World and still holds an annual pineapple festival. The pineapple is a symbol of hospitality, and Jensen Beach lives up to this hallmark every day. John Laurence Jensen emigrated from Denmark in 1888 and set up his pineapple plantation here, which eventually became the town of Jensen.

Marriott Hutchinson Island Stuart Florida - The Riverwalk, Sailor’s Return, Jupiter Donuts
Join KJF-TravelAdventures on our 2 night staycation in Stuart, FL at the Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach Resort, Golf & Marina.
Day 1 We checked into the hotel close to 5pm so night one was pretty chill just exploring the hotel. We ordered pizza delivered from Pusateri’s Chicago Pizza (a local place).
Day 2 began with breakfast on Stuart Beach at the Seaside Café with a stroll along their beach and boardwalk before heading into Downtown Stuart and the Riverwalk. And we ended the day with dinner at The Sailor’s Return.
We started day 3 with donuts (obviously) and breakfast from Jupiter’s Donuts and then explored the other section of the hotel and the beach before heading home where we took the scenic route up A1A for a bit instead of the boring highway.

Explore Fort Pierce Inlet in Florida - Tucker’s Cove Sandbar & Spoil Island near Hutchinson Island

There is so much to explore around Fort Pierce Inlet. We stayed at our favorite quaint hotel on Hutchinson Island, Hutchinson Plaza Hotel, which lies right on the inlet and rich with a healthy ecosystem. Manatees, dolphins and thousands of mullet jumping in any given moment. The new dock is a great place to kick back and relax with high chairs looking at the inlet and a tiki hut where you can just kick back and chill after a day of paddling ;)
I started my paddle right from the beach at the hotel where I launched my SUP and headed north across the inlet at slack tide. Manatee spotted as I crossed near Coon Island and made my way to the beautiful beaches of the Fort Pierce State Park. Took a dip then headed back west towards Dynamite Point and rounded the corner across from Coon Island where many boats were anchored and enjoying the island life. Water was crystal clear and stunning. As I paddled NE through the waterway I found myself at the Tucker Cove sandbar where many boats were enjoying the shallow pristine waters, some with their dogs running free and great island vibes in different tunes from each boat. Super fun spot, great place to take a dip and paddle on. Next I explored the mangrove-lined waterways of Tucker Cove, rounded Boot Toe Point and met fellow paddlers in their kayaks in Shortys Slough. Took another quick dip and back towards the Inlet. I would have crossed but became mesmerized by a group of dolphin swimming with the current. I followed the dolphin knowing very well that it would be a tough paddle back but nothing could get in the way of me and some beautiful dolphin so I kept on :/ Couldn't catch up to them so enjoyed some time on Spoil Island SL16, this was another beautiful spot that I'm glad I got to check out. From there I made it back to the hotel just in time for sunset & a swim ;)

Number 1… On The Edge located on the Fort Pierce inlet. On the Edge Bar & Grill is a high-quality waterfront restaurant offering beautiful seaside views and delicious food. All the fish served is fresh, locally caught & never frozen. Their Mahi-Mahi, Swordfish, and Tuna are caught in deep water, approximately 150 miles offshore to the northeast of Fort Pierce. All their beef is certified angus, their vegetables are all fresh and never frozen, and the bread they serve is from a local bakery and delivered fresh to their kitchen. Visit On the Edge by car or boat and enjoy great food, drinks, and live music. And the best part? They’re dog friendly, so feel free to bring along your furry family members to join in on
the fun!
Number 2… 12A Buoy! So good! An amazing seafood restaurant with an open and airy outdoor sitting area with a colorful exterior. They serve up homestyle seafood dishes in a relaxed rustic environment. Enjoy gorgeous views of boats passing by while eating some of the freshest seafood in the area. The chefs decide the menu for the day based on the fisherman’s fresh catch of the day! They have the best soup, called Miami Vice Chowder, a soup consisting of half clam chowder and half conch soup! It’s a must try if you give them a visit!
Number 3… Cobbs Landing, located waterfront in the beautiful Historic Downtown Ft. Pierce. They are a tropical-themed spot with a mojito bar & a seafood-heavy menu which also includes tacos & pasta. The restaurant is under a giant tiki and near the boats in the marina, setting the stage for beautiful views while you enjoy great drinks and fresh seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. They have a great gumbo and ahi tuna poke bowl, and their turkey burger is to die for! Their drinks are reasonably priced and refreshing to sip on while watch the boats cruise by!
Number 4… Chuck’s Seafood Restaurant home of the World-Famous Fried Shrimp and some of the freshest seafood you will find in Florida! Their menu changes daily depending on the fresh catches of the day! They are known for their classic American seafood dishes and gorgeous waterfront views. While enjoying some friend shrimp make sure to visit their famous “Captain’s Room” which is filled with signed guitars, trumpets, pictures and other musical items from famous bands and musicians such as ‘The Beatles’, ‘Shania Twain’, ‘The Beach Boys’ and more!
Number 5… Pickled! A new casual southern style dining spot with an amazing selection of bourbons and whiskeys. They are known for their tapas style menu items, hand crafted cocktails, and dinner menu items. While staying on Hutchinson Island for the weekend we decided to check out Bathtub Reef Beach located in Stuart which was 30 minutes south on A1A from the Fort Pierce Inlet. The beach is beautiful, crystal clear water, and the reef was very cool but lacking tropical fish and other sea life I expected to see here.
At high tide I saw people snorkeling on the east side of the reef. We checked that out but found it to be very dangerous so please BEWARE - If you drift to where the reef rises out of the water you can get trapped between the waves & the reef so be very careful!
This reef system is created by tiny tube-building Sabellariid sea worms and is not only incredibly unique, but also an extremely fragile one.
The worms cement sand grains together, creating a vast network of tube dwellings. Colonies build up over time and create a reef system that helps break waves in the summer months, creating a “bathtub effect.” This made the beautiful white sand beach into a lagoon which was absolutely beautiful & a perfect place for kids.

There is a boardwalk access to the beach. A handicapped accessible ramp goes to a large deck platform to observe the beach, but there are then steps down to the sand. Three covered pavilions and a dune crossover make this one-acre park an inviting spot for getting in a little beach time.

House of Refuge on Hutchinson Island, Stuart Florida
Welcome to the house of refuge, located on Hutchinson Island in Stuart Florida. The House of Refuge and Stuart are on the South East Coast of Florida. The House of Refuge is situated along a beautiful coast of rocks a coral reefs.
Originally there were 10 houses of refuge built along the East Coast of Florida and the Stuart House is the last one standing.
The Houses of Refuge were designed to be safe havens for shipwrecked sailors who ran aground along the Atlantic coastline.
Built in 1876, the House of Refuge is the oldest building in Martin County Florida. Now the building sits as a museum that houses artifacts of its maritime heritage.
Admission is $10 per adult and $9.00 for seniors. If you are visiting the treasure coast of Florida, Make the House of Refuge a stop. If you enjoy classic automobiles, check out the Elliott Museum. Combo tickets can be purchased to see both museums in Stuart Florida. I have added the website to these museums below.
