Day tripping to a mountain a short drive from New York City in early December? Is that a crazy idea? Last weekend, we found out for ourselves.
This past Sunday, we went to Hunter Mountain, which is about two-and-a-half hours from the city with no traffic. This was our first time visiting the East Coast for skiing since early 2020, and our first time at Hunter ever, as we look to expand our reviews into the Catskill Mountains.

Fort Wayne Indiana has consistently been ranked as one of the most affordable cities in American. Not only is it affordable is great but it relatively low crime for its size, surrounded by small towns with farms and manufacturing. Economic developments and the revitalisation of downtown. Restaurants and family-friendly activities: Fort Wayne Children's Zoo (ranked in the top 10 of the country), Botanical Gardens, the Tincaps ballpark, outdoor concerts at Foellinger and Sweetwater or indoors at the Coliseum and Piere's and Clyde, venues for live theatre, and the Build Guild for arts & crafts classes, plus arcades, etc. Dining staples of Fort Wayne's Famous Coney Island and Power's Hamburgers and others. A few drive-in movies, roller rinks, and bowling alleys are in the city or within driving distance. Virtual reality, spas, escape rooms, skate parks, and a nice ice-skating rink. River activities like kayaking. The trail system is great but bike lanes are few and far between. There are large lakes within 45 minutes - 2 hours of Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne is a city in the U.S. state of Indiana and the seat of Allen County, United States. Located in northeastern Indiana, the city is 18 miles (29 km) west of the Ohio border and 50 miles (80 km) south of the Michigan border. The city's population was 270,402 as of the 2019 Census estimate making it the second-most populous city in Indiana after Indianapolis, and the 75th-most populous city in the United States. It is the principal city of the Fort Wayne metropolitan area, consisting of Allen, Wells, and Whitley counties, a combined population of 419,453 as of 2011. Fort Wayne is the cultural and economic center of northeastern Indiana. In addition to the three core counties, the combined statistical area (CSA) includes Adams, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, and Steuben counties, with an estimated population of 615,077.
Fort Wayne was built in 1794 by the United States Army under the direction of American Revolutionary War general Anthony Wayne, the last in a series of forts built near the Miami village of Kekionga. Named in Wayne's honor, the European-American settlement developed at the confluence of the St. Joseph, St. Marys, and Maumee rivers as a trading post for pioneers. The village was platted in 1823 and underwent tremendous growth after completion of the Wabash and Erie Canal and advent of the railroad. Once a booming manufacturing town located in what became known as the Rust Belt, Fort Wayne's economy in the 21st century is based upon distribution, transportation and logistics, healthcare, professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and financial services.

Auburn, Indiana
Auburn is a city in DeKalb County, Indiana. Auburn is home to many historical sites. The city of Auburn was established in 1836. Auburn, Indiana is the location of Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum and the National Automotive and Truck Museum of the United States. Both are national historic landmarks. Historic Auburn Hotel at the corner of Ninth and Main was built in the 1860's. Originally named the Swineford Hotel, it became a landmark for 19th century Auburn. The hotel has a colorful past with many interesting legendary people. One such person is the gangster John Dillinger. DeKalb County Courthouse is beautiful, and was dedicated on June 18, 1914.
Walking Fort Wayne's Nicest Area : The Landing & Promenade Park (June 2021)
I walk through what I consider to be Fort Wayne, Indiana's nicest area. The Landing used to be a canal that was situated along Columbia Street, but now is home to many shops, restaurants, and residences. I then visit Promenade Park, a new city park which features water fountains, a historic wrought iron truss bridge, a playground, great views of the St. Mary's River, public restrooms, and a restaurant.
