5 Best Places to Visit in Armenia #shorts + travel

#1 Yerevan:
Yerevan, is by far the largest city in Armenia and an excellent spot to begin exploring the country. The city has the great Republic Square, and ascending the Cascade to witness the city's monument to Soviet triumph in WWII is a must. Yerevan is a highly historic city, and visiting the Armenian Genocide Memorial is a must if you want to understand more about the country's tumultuous history. The Vernissage flea market, which is accessible on weekends, is definitely worth a visit, as is a trip down the Hrazdan gorge. Day tours from Yerevan, renowned as the City of Cafes, allow you to see much of what Armenia has to offer. Yerevan is also home to the Blue Mosque, the country's lone mosque, as well as Levon's Amazing Underground World, one of Europe's most bizarre sights.

#2 Shikahogh State Reserve:
Shikahogh State Reserve, Armenia's second biggest forest reserve, is so untouched that huge areas of it remain unknown to this day. The forest is said to be home to creatures such as leopards, bears, wild goats, and vipers, and it is also anticipated that Shikahogh State Reserve contains over 1,100 plant species, however its fauna has not yet been thoroughly studied. In 2005, the reserve was endangered by a proposed motorway, but environmentalists successfully pushed for the forest's future protection. There are also a lot of stunning waterfalls to appreciate in the reserve.

#3 Lake Sevan:
Lake Sevan, located in the center of Armenia, is the country's largest lake and a lovely destination to visit during a vacation there. The lake is bordered by various lovely monasteries, the most striking of which is likely the Sevanavank Monastery, and provides a magnificent picturesque background to a relaxed excursion. Windsurfing is one of the recreational activities on offer at the lake, which also offers a variety of outstanding seafood eateries along its beach. Lake Sevan has a variety of famous beaches, and because Armenia lacks a coastline, this is the greatest area to tan in Armenia, with Sevan Bay and its surrounding mountains providing stunning views.

#4 Dilijan national park:
Armenia has four national parks, the most beautiful of which being Dilijan National Park. The park, which opened in 2002, is well-known for its medicinal mineral water springs and natural monuments. Many of Armenia's most important cultural landmarks may be found inside the park's borders, including Haghartsin Monastery, Goshavank Monastery, and Jukhtak Vank, as well as Matosavank Monastery and the Akhnabat church. The Aghestev and Getik river basins are also located inside the Dilijan national park.

#5 Mount Aragats:
Mount Aragats is one of Armenia's most beautiful natural wonders, with the dormant volcano located in the country's north. It is Armenia's tallest mountain, and the area around it is rich in rock art, with depictions of animals and human-like forms dating back hundreds of years. Snow covers the top practically all year, although Mount Aragats may be climbed, with the ideal months to try the walk being July, August, and September. The southernmost of the four summits is the simplest to reach, while the northernmost peak, at roughly 4,000 meters, is the most difficult.

Yerevan Armenia City Tour - The Ultimate Facts To Visit Yerevan, Capital of Armenia - Matrostravel

Hey folks, welcome back to my travel vlog, Matrostravel channel. Recently I have visited Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. In this video you’ll know why you should visit Yerevan and what are the best places that attract tourists. So let's watch this video and know the secrets of the history of the capital Armenia. ✅ Subscribe????

Yerevan, also spelled Erevan, Erivan, or Jerevan, the capital of Armenia. It is situated on the Hrazdan River, 14 miles (23 km) from the Turkish frontier. Downtown Yerevan was widely rebuilt in Soviet times according to the neoClassical urban planning model of other European capitals, with wide tree-lined boulevards converging with geometrical accuracy in great squares and parks. Republic Square, instead, is one of the best examples of Soviet squares, a huge open space delimited by hulking buildings. Yerevan’s cultural scene is incredibly rich. There are dozens of museums and places of interest to visit.

Yerevan has been the capital of Armenia since the independence of the First Republic in 1918. Situated in the Ararat plain, the historic lands of Armenia, it served as the best logical choice for the capital of the young republic at the time.

The city developed as an important focus of trade and has had a long history of siege and storm. At different times it came under the Romans, Parthians, Arabs, Mongols, Turks, Persians, Georgians, and Russians. The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century BC, with the founding of the fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC by King Argishti I at the western extreme of the Ararat plain. Erebuni was designed as a great administrative and religious center, a fully royal capital. One theory regarding the origin of Yerevan's name is that the city was named after the Armenian king, Yervand (Orontes) IV, the last leader of the Orontid Dynasty, and founder of the city of Yervandashat.

The principal symbol of Yerevan is Mount Ararat, which is visible from any area in the capital. The seal of the city is a crowned lion on a pedestal with the inscription in the upper part. The emblem is a rectangular shield with a blue border. At the beginning of the 20th century, Yerevan was a small city with a population of 30,000. In 1917, the Russian Empire ended with the October Revolution. In the aftermath, Armenian, Georgian, and Muslim leaders of Transcaucasia united to form the Transcaucasian Federation and proclaimed Transcaucasia's secession.

Of the notable landmarks of Yerevan, Erebuni Fortress is considered to be the birthplace of the city, the Katoghike Tsiranavor church is the oldest surviving church of Yerevan and Saint Gregory Cathedral is the largest Armenian cathedral in the world, Tsitsernakaberd is the official memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, and several opera houses, theatres, museums, libraries, and other cultural institutions.

Modern Yerevan, which climbs the hillsides from the deep trench of the Hrazdan, is an attractive city in a fine natural setting framed by the extinct volcanic peaks of Mount Aragats and Mount Azhdahak to the north and Mount Ararat across the Turkish frontier to the south.
