Myanmar Travel Highlights: My favorite spots in the Hpa-An area!
???? March 2017 ▶️ Myanmar has been the one country in South East Asia which surprised me the most. It is a very different expierence to the other countries in the area and offers a lot of cool caves and temples to explore. This video focuses on the Hpa-An area and you can see all details of the locations in the Timestamps below. Hitch hiking was super easy as well and based on my travel expense stats, it is also the cheapest country I have visited with 2,65€ average costs on food per day!

PS: Myanmar has always been a troubled country, even back in 2017 already. On February 20th, the situation recently escalated when two protesters were killed by the military, who took over power in the country on February 1st. I condemn these actions and hope that the country will find peace again. This video has been put together prior to these recent events and I hope that the situation in the country will soon get back to the beautiful land I have discovered in 2017.

The video will start in Inle Lake before we head over to the Ancient City Bagan. After that, you will see the impressive Mingun Pahtodawgyi and the white Mya Thein Tan Pagoda from above, the main highlights in Mingun (close to Mandalay). We'll end this video with shots of the impressive landscapes in Hpa An and a beautiful sunset at the U Bein Bridge, again in Mandalay.

One of the most beautiful State in Myanmar - Kayin State (Hpa-An) ???????? 2023
Hpa-An is the capital city of Kayin state. Hpa-An is a distinctive rural city, that could very well be one of the most beautiful on the planet. With the backdrop of the dramatic Mount Zwe Kabin, covered in luscious greenery of tropical palms, while not far away from the center of the city is picturesque Thanlwin River.
Explore Hpa-An, Myanmar
Have you explored Hpa-An, Myanmar?
Hpa-An is about 7 hours east of Yangon by bus.
There are many things to do in Hpa-An but the best thing to do is explore the caves. The best cave is Saddan cave, where you can see many statues of Buddha as well as bats and take a boat ride!
How do you get to these caves? You can rent a scooter for the day for about 8000 Kyat, which is about $8 CDN. It is well worth your money and time! Wake up early and go explore those caves!
Don't forget to go and explore the bat cave and watch millions of bats leave the cave for the night!
The street food at the local night market is incredible as well. You must try all of the delicious food. It all costs around 500 Kyat or about $.50 CDN.
The last, but maybe the first thing to do in Hpa-An is make friends with the locals and watch sunset by the lake!

Mount Zwegabin is located near Hpa-An, Myanmar.
At 725m above sea level, it is one of South Myanmar's loved places. The temple and monastery on top are favorite pilgrimage sites, involving a good climb up numerous stairs, through beautiful scenery.
Visitors can sleep on top as well as enjoy good food in a local restaurant.

In this video, we dig into our Myanmar First Impressions. Spoiler, they are great. Our first impressions of Myanmar are that it is a beautiful, friendly, and easy to travel country.
Our day started with a beautiful, breathtaking walk up the very treacherous Hpa-Pu Hill. Also known as Hpan-Pu Hill. Honestly, we expected more people, both locals and tourists to be joining us, but there was no one around. At one point the path turned into steep bamboo ladders, which had nearly rotted away, this really scared us, but we pushed on to the top of Hpa-Pu Hill. The view at the top is really worth the scary climb and we would recommend Hpa-Pu Hill to any visitors to Hpa-An.
After getting down the hill (mountain) we grabbed a shower and made it over to the Hpa-An Lake in the centre of town. We were aiming for sunset and we arrived as the sky was turning a brilliant pink. Kan-Thar-Yar Lake is small but charming and just walking around the edge is a lovely end to our first day in Myanmar.

In this vlog we visit the amazing little pagoda, Kyaut Ka Latt, built on top of a rock in the middle of lake, get invited for som Karen hilltribe food and we also visit the impressive Yathae Pyan Cave, where we run into the most photogenic monkey we've ever met.
