Tiny Tour | Hondarribia Spain | Driving around the city 2019 Autumn
Hondarribia (Fuenterrabía) is a town situated on the west shore of Bidasoa river's mouth, in Gipuzkoa, in Basque Country, Spain. The border town is situated on a little promontory facing Hendaye (France) over the Txingudi bay. A service boat makes the trip between the two cities. The town holds an ancient old quarter with walls and a castle. In addition, Hondarribia features a beach across the Bidasoa from the touristy housing estate Sokoburu in Hendaye, alongside a mountain called Jaizkibel providing a hilly backdrop to the town. A road leads north-east from the beach area to the Cape Higuer, located in this municipality.
Fuenterrabía (en euskera y oficialmente Hondarribia) es una ciudad y municipio del País Vasco, España, situado en el extremo noreste de la provincia de Guipúzcoa, a unos 20 km al este de la capital, San Sebastián, en la desembocadura del río Bidasoa, que hace de frontera natural con Hendaya (Francia). Forma parte de un área metropolitana transfronteriza, la Eurociudad Vasca Bayona-San Sebastián, con más de 620 000 habitantes. Fuenterrabía forma parte de la Eurociudad a través del Consorcio Transfonterizo Bidasoa Txingudi, con las ciudades de Irún y Hendaya. El objetivo de esta cooperación regional es dinamizar proyectos innovadores, atraer inversiones comunes y armonizar un modelo de desarrollo social, territorial y urbano sostenible.

Up in the northern region of Spain is Basque Country, and we decided to get a small taste of Basque culture in the astounding city of San Sebastian. After eating all the Basque pintxos our little hearts desired and witnessing the most golden coastal views, we came to realize that San Sebastian was simply heaven on earth. We will surely be back in San Sebastian, Spain, in the future, and maybe during the summertime, so we can swim in that stunning blue water! ????????

Travel to northern Spain & discover Hondarribia with it's tasty Pintxos & beautiful beach. Hondarribia has a beautiful old town packed full of history while the locals cram the bars/restaurants to discuss day to day life over wine or beer.
Pintxos, pronounced Pinchos, is available in nearly all the bars in Hondarribia. For those who don't know, Pintxos is a delicious bite sized snacks to accompany a drink & can be selected from a menu or by simply pointing to the desired taste you seek. They can vary from olives with fish on a stick called 'Gilda' to cooked lumps of steak cooked rare, both of which are amazing!
We stayed in the hotel Palacete located in the old town, a beautiful hotel with its outside bar area spilling out onto the public plaza. We paid €55 per night for a basic double room with en-suite. Was very comfortable and helpful staff made our stay most enjoyable. There are lots of things to see and do with in this town from old churches to beaches.
To get to Hondarribia you fly to San Sebastián airport which is actually 10 mins from the old town of Hondarribia, perfect for visiting this area of Spain.

This is the first part of a series of videos strolling through the old town of Hondarribia - Fuenterrabía, starting at the outer wall and then walking through the picturesque streets of this beautiful town.
Hondarribia is definitely one of the most beautiful towns in the Basque Country and a real must-see! If you only choose to visit one village in the Basque Country, this is probably the one. Hondarribia (Fuenterrabía in Spanish) is a colorful fishing village that is both rich in architecture as well as in gastronomy. It’s a feast for the eyes and also for the stomach.
Besides having an impressive gastronomy scene, Hondarribia also boasts a well-preserved old town that is surrounded by a fortified wall, the only one to be found in Guipuzcoa province. The Old Town is loaded with beautiful Basque houses, most having wooden balconies that are painted in a myriad of colors. In addition to the Basque houses, there are also some baroque buildings thrown into the mix. With its maze of cobble-stoned streets, the Old Town begs to be explored.

Parador de Hondarribia is set in an impressive 10th-century castle overlooking the Bidasoa Estuary. It has a charming courtyard terrace and another terrace with fantastic views.
The beautiful castle includes original arches and features such as suits of armour, cannons and spears. There are banquet rooms, courtyards and other charming spaces where you can relax with a drink from the bar.
The modern rooms at the Parador feature wooden floors. Each room comes with a flat-screen TV, a safe and a minibar. The private bathroom includes a hairdryer.
A daily buffet breakfast is served in the café. There are many good seafood restaurants within a short walk in Hondarribia.
The seafront promenade is just 821 feet from Parador de Honidarribia, and the beach is 1.2 miles away. San Sebastián is a 20-minute drive away, and you can drive to Biarritz in 35 minutes.
