10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

Places to see in ( Bourne - UK )

Places to see in ( Bourne - UK )

Bourne is a market town and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. Bourne is situated on the eastern slopes of the Kesteven Uplands and the western edge of the Lincolnshire Fens. The town is located on a Roman road now known as King Street and was built around the natural springs, hence the name Bourne (or Bourn, as the town was originally known) which derives from the Anglo-Saxon meaning water or stream. It lies on the intersection of the A15 and the A151 roads. The civil parish includes the main township plus the hamlets of Cawthorpe, Dyke and Twenty. In former years Austerby was regarded as a separate settlement, with its own shops and street plan, but is now an area of Bourne known as The Austerby

The ecclesiastical parish of Bourne is part of the Beltisloe Deanery of the Diocese of Lincoln and is based at the Abbey Church of St Peter and St Paul, in Church Walk. The incumbent is Revd Chris Atkinson. Other religious denominations include Methodist, Baptist, United Reformed and Roman Catholic churches. The town's economy was based on rural industries until the railway opened up a market for bottled mineral water. Although it is still focused on agriculture and food preparation for supermarkets, there are also important light engineering and tourism activities. The district has a fast-growing housing market, with considerable new building taking place in Bourne in the 2000s.

Bourne Town Council has two wards which are identical to the South Kesteven District Council wards. Bourne East elects seven councillors to the town council and Bourne West eight. Bourne Market Place is at the crossroads of the A15 road and the B1193. Strictly speaking, it was a staggered pair of T-junctions where the A15 was met by the A151 from Spalding to the east and the B676 from the west (the article A151 road explains) before the B676 was redesignated as an extension of the A151 to Colsterworth.

The Ancient Woodland of Bourne Woods is still extant, although much reduced. It originally formed part of the ancient Forest of Kesteven and is now managed by the Forestry Commission. The earliest documentary reference to Brunna, meaning stream, is from a document of 960, and the town appeared in the Domesday Book as Brune. Bourne Abbey, (charter 1138), formerly held and maintained land in Bourne and other parishes. In later times this was known as the manor of Bourne Abbots.

There are currently 71 listed buildings in the parish of Bourne, the most important being Bourne Abbey and the Parish Church of St Peter and St Paul (1138), which is the only one scheduled Grade I. The others are Grade II, the most colourful being the aptly named Red Hall (c. 1620), finished in red brick with ashlar quoins, many gabled and featuring a fine Tuscan porch. From 1860 to 1959, it was the town's railway station booking office and waiting room. At two stages, in the 1890s and 1960s, it came close to demolition but the building is now well preserved by Bourne United Charities. The former station booking office serves as the BUC's office.

Baldock's Mill (1800), once a corn-grinding water mill, together with the miller's house, has been converted by Bourne Civic Society to serve as the town's Heritage Centre. It houses many interesting artefacts, most recently a water-wheel has been installed and a newly created replica of a Charles Frederick Worth dress is on display. The Baptist Church dates from 1835, but the church itself was established there in the 1640s. This building, the Methodist Church (1841) and the United Reformed Church (1846) are all still in active use.

( Bourne - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Bourne . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Bourne - UK

Places to see in ( Spalding - UK )

Places to see in ( Spalding - UK )

Spalding is a market town, on the River Welland in the South Holland district of Lincolnshire, England. Little London is a hamlet directly south of Spalding on the B1172, whilst Pinchbeck, a village to the north, is part of the built-up area.

Spalding was well known for its annual Spalding Flower Parade, dating from 1959, which attracted many regular visitors from around the world. The parade celebrated the region's vast tulip production and the cultural links between the Fens and the landscape and people of South Holland.

Ayscoughfee Hall dates from the 15th-century and is now operated as a museum. St Mary and St Nicolas was built in 1284 by William de Littleport of Spalding Priory. The tower and spire were added in 1360. St John the Baptist, was built in 1875, at the same time as the adjacent Church school. St Paul's at Fulney, on the eastern side of the town, was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and completed in 1880 after his death. Other local attractions are the Pinchbeck Engine Museum (just north of Spalding), the Bulb Museum (situated at Birch Grove Garden Centre, Pinchbeck) and the Gordon Boswell Romany Museum, to the south of the town. The Chain Bridge Forge is a 19th-century blacksmith's forge on the River Welland; many of its original features have been preserved and it is operated as a museum. The Chatterton Tower is near Sainsburys.

Spalding War Memorial is located in the grounds of Ayscoughfee Hall and commemorates the 224 men from the town killed in the First World War. Spalding, like nearby Boston, is a regular destination of heavy goods vehicles transporting processed vegetables and other food produce. The A16 used to pass through the town until August 1995, when the Spalding-Sutterton Improvement (by-pass) was opened, built mostly on the closed Spalding to Boston railway line. The twelve-mile (19 km) A1073 between Spalding and Eye Green in Peterborough has been replaced by a completely new road classified as the A16, replacing the previous A16 that ran to Stamford.

Spalding railway station is situated on the Lincoln Central - Peterborough railway line, operated by East Midlands Trains. The service is irregular, and it does not run at night or on Sundays. It does provide convenient access to Peterborough for employment and shopping.

( Spalding - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Spalding . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Spalding - UK

The Largest Village in England? Cottingham, Yorkshire

A ride around the village of Cottingham, which claims to be the largest village in England. Cottingham residents are rightly proud, not only of their status as England's largest village, but also of its heritage. It lies 3+1⁄2 miles (5.6 km) north-west of the centre of Kingston upon Hull, and 6.2 miles (10.0 km) south-east of Beverley on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Wolds. It has two main shopping streets, Hallgate and King Street, which cross each other.

Then we are back out on the road heading to Market Rasen via Lincoln (The capital or administration region of Lincolnshire county). On the way we cycle along old train and canal lines. Unfortunately at the end I can't outrun the storm and get soaked before wild camping in a forest.

KIRTON IN LINDSEY: North Lincolnshire Parish #22 of 56

Here we have a town, situated half on top, and half on the side of the ridge known of the Lincoln Cliff, and at times on this walk around the town, that ridge and its unforgiving slope certainly come into play. The B1398 Lincoln to Scunthorpe road passes through the town, as does the B1400 which runs down the Northern side of the ridge to Messingham as the road to Cleatham

This is generally a maze of narrow, sometimes windy and sometimes footpathless streets, and every single one has something on it of interest. As a civil parish with town status, naturally this is one of the largest in terms of population in the district with well over 3,000 people. The name Kirton is an interesting one. It’s the “in Lindsey” part that’s intruiging.

This area was historically part of the West Riding of the Parts of Lindsey. In Kelly's Directory of Lincolnshire, both the 1900 and 1913 versions list the parish as being in West Lindsey. However, West Lindsey’s boundaries would change and this area became part of North Lincolnshire in 1996. Its name stands as something of an historical testament to Lincolnshire’s old divisions

It had something called a “Bridewell” - a slang term for a correctional institution. It was partially demolished and its stone was re-used in other buildings in the town. There’s an interesting bit of local folklore pertaining to Ash Well, and there’s loads to discuss at the former RAF base to the South which is where I was able to have a go on a flight simulator.

There’s LOADS here…enjoy Kirton Lindsey – or if you will, KIRTON IN LINDSEY.
