In this episode I highlight my experience visiting Mt Afadjato, Wli Waterfalls , Tagbo Falls. Mt Afadjato is the highest peak in Ghana its a challenging hike because of the ascent but the views are very rewarding. Wli waterfalls has two circuits a longer hike and one that just leads you to the foot of the waterfall. Fun fact my mom spent 10 days with me in ghana and she went for her first hike

Volta Region (or Volta) is one of Ghana's sixteen administrative regions, with Ho designated as its capital. It is located west of Republic of Togo and to the east of Lake Volta. Divided into 25 administrative districts, the region is multi-ethnic and multilingual, including groups such as the Ewe, the Guan, and the Akan peoples. The Guan peoples include the Lolobi, Likpe, Akpafu, Buem, and Nkonya (now part of Oti region) people. This region was carved out of the Volta Region in December 2018 by the New Patriotic Party.

Factually speaking, we had not much idea about the mountain, but for all the information available on the internet. The site is in Hohoe, a town in the Volta Region, 225 kms from Accra. Myself & friends Ramanathan & Saibabu decided to take this challenge with one motive of achieving it and reached Hohoe. With all excitement, we started the hike to the tallest Mountain of Ghana - Mt. Afadjato which is (2904 ft). The terrain was rugged, which made it difficult to maneuver at some parts, yet we managed to summit, and the joy of reaching the top of the mountain is beyond explanation.

PS: There are multiple versions of the highest/tallest mountain in Ghana. On paper it is Afadjato, but Lakleta is the highest point in Ghana. How does it matter? We will try that also :D :D

Wli Waterfalls in Hohoe, Ghana
Wli Waterfalls is the highest waterfall in Ghana and the tallest in West Africa. It has a lower and an upper fall. Wli Waterfalls is located 20 km from Hohoe in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Wli Waterfalls, also called Agumatsa Falls, is a popular and dramatic tourist site near the village of Wli not far from the Togo border. Most tourist make the easy walk to the lower falls, which is mostly a flat trail but stunning and beautiful in setting, made even more dramatic by the presence of thousands of fruit bats nesting high up on the nearby cliffs. However, the equally high and much more isolated upper falls is a special treat for those with the stamina for the challenging hike. There are inviting pools at the base of both falls where the hearty can take a chilly dip.
The Wli waterfalls is the highest water fall in West Africa. The falls is known locally as Agumatsa waterfalls – meaning, “Allow Me to Flow.” It is located in the Hohoe municipality of the Volta Region, the land of the Ewe culture. It is approximately 280 kilometers from the capital Accra. The walk take you through the Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, which features more than 200 bird species and 400 butterfly species.
Things to Do
• Hike with a tour guide to the lower falls on an easy, mostly flat trail that crosses two rivers 8 times on bridges.
• Branch from the main path with your guide to climb the steep and challenging trails to the upper falls. Sturdy footwear recommended.
• Visit the shrine of lesser gods, said to have been brought by village ancestors from Togo. Your guide will explain the history and other items of interest in the village.
• See the village ostrich farm, a new project with an NGO to create sustainable jobs with income from the sale of eggs. Your guide will show you the 25 animals on the farm and explain its operation.

Drive from Accra to Akpafu Todzi - Via Hohoe | Ghana Road Trip
In this video we take a road Trip from Accra to Akpafu Todzi - My hometown in Ghana.
This route uses the the Eastern Corridor in the volta region.
We took a car (Tro Tro style) from Madina Station going through the Dodowa road connecting to Shai Hills via Afienya. From there we drive through Odumase Krono on to Kpong, Adomi Bridge (Akosombo) or Senchi where you can can stop by to get some wonderful local treats such as 'Abolo' with 'one man thousand' local crabs just to mention a few. From there, we headed into the Volta region passing areas like Adzokoe, Kpeve and Golokwati before arriving into Hohoe, the nearest major town to the village. This part takes around 4 hours.
Hohoe is not far from the Wli falls a majoy Ghanaian attraction (around 25 minutes away) so this is also a good base for a separate side trip.
From Hohoe, we changed cars and took a local taxi for the last part of the trip driving through local villages such as Santrokofi Benua and Santrokofi Bume and into Akpafu Mempeasem.
The last part takes us up the mountain (which is a mile up) from Akpafu Mempeasem to Akpafu Todzi where our journey concludes.

WLI WATERFALLS, HOHOE, THE MAGICAL WATERFALL + ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW
Right after getting killed at Afadjato (do well to watch that video before jumping into this one), we passed through one of the most underrated waterfalls in the Volta region and for that matter, Ghana.
There is magic in the water. The more you sing of a pure heart, the more the water flows. It is believed the gods used to swim here. The water is extremely cold but once you start swimming, it gets warm.
Mindblowing, huh?
