Xorazm Region or Khorezm Region as it is still more commonly known, is a viloyat (region) of Uzbekistan located in the northwest of the country in the lower reaches of the Amu-Darya River. It borders with Turkmenistan, Karakalpakstan, and Bukhara Region. It covers an area of 6,464 square kilometres (2,496 sq mi). The population is estimated to be around 1,776,700, with some 80% living in rural areas.
Khorezm Region is divided into 10 administrative districts. The capital is Urgench (pop est 135,000). Other major towns include Xonqa, Khiva, Shovot, and Pitnak.
The city of Khiva in Khorezm Region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with world-famous architectural monuments, making Khiva one of the main centers for international tourism in the country.
Khorezm is a place where many famous scholars were born, such as Abu Rayhan Biruni and al-Khwārizmī. The region has a well-developed transportation infrastructure, with over 130 km of railways and 2000 km of surfaced roads. The region is connected by rail to European Russia and the Caucasus.

Life is a journey. Two days ago I came to Tashkent from Tbilisi, Georgia. Yesterday night I started my train journey from the South railway station of Tashkent. The train station was very impressive. It was a big railway station. The sitting area was very big, comfortable, and clean. This is the train where I am traveling now. This is a sleeping train. I had a good sleep last night.
Now I am going to my dream city, Khiva by Train. Khiva was my main target destination on this tour. Do you know, why? This is what I saw when I first search for Khiva in Google and got excited after watching these amazing pictures. Then I come to know - Khiva is a historical city which was established around 1500 years ago.
Today I wake up in the morning and took my breakfast with Uzbeskistani Tea. Now enjoying the landscape view of this country. Other passengers are talking to each other now. I don't understand their language. People are very nice here in Uzbekistan. So I am going to see my dream city, Khiva.
