Explore the Gems of Haddington: 5 Fascinating Attractions You Can't Miss

Hello and welcome to my channel where we explore chunks of Scottish history this episode will be full of it, thanks to the lovely people of this Scottish jewel called Haddington. Today I will show you 5 main places, that you can easily visit.

The first one is One of the two main streets in Haddington, Haddington’s High Street is an excellent place for Shopping, have to chat with locals, grabbing an ice cream or just enjoying a moment in this beautiful town. The history of this town was dating from the 6th century AD and it became part of Scotland in the 10th Century.

Second place to visit is stunning Lennoxlove house, that sits just on the outskirts of Haddington. Lennoxlove house is home of the duke of Hamilton built in the 14th century. Lennoxlove House is an intriguing mixture of time periods, with 18th-century Palladian and Victorian elegance blended with the earlier 14th-century tower house. The house also acts as a showcase for one of Britain's great art collections, featuring portraits, fine furniture, and ceramics. Much of the collection was brought here from Hamilton Palace

St. Marys Parish Church

3rd gem of this beautiful town is ST. Mary's Parish Church and I can tell you, I was not expecting it to be full of exciting history. Thanks to Janet, a local volunteer I had a chance to film it for you. Thank you Janet appreciate it.

Just outside of St. Mary's Parish Church lies the historic Nungate Bridge – known for its majestic stone bricks and tranquil atmosphere.
This attraction is a stone’s throw from St Mary’s Church, and it’s a great place to stop, relax, and watch the swans and ducks of Haddington frolicking in the River Tyne. It was also the punishment site, as criminals would regularly be hanged from the bridge!
From its green, you’re treated to a memorable skyline of town churches and buildings and the complex history and outstanding architecture that make this bridge an attraction you must see while in Haddington.

HADDINGTON SCOTLAND | a walk through Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland

HADDINGTON SCOTLAND | a walk through Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland
Welcome to Haddington, the county town of East Lothian!
Also watch our tour of Edinburgh Scotland -

Just 20 miles from Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, and often known as ‘the hidden toun’ because of the way it sits in its rural environment, Haddington is a beautiful market town, rich in history and with many attractions. Whether you’re a visitor or a local, we’d be delighted if you’d like to find out more about our town on this website.

The Royal Burgh of Haddington is a town in East Lothian, Scotland. It is the main administrative, cultural and geographical centre for East Lothian, which as a result of late-nineteenth century Scottish local government reforms took the form of the county of Haddingtonshire for the period from 1889 to 1921

Haddington lies about 17 miles (27 kilometres) east of Edinburgh. The name Haddington is Anglo-Saxon, dating from the sixth or seventh century AD when the area was incorporated into the kingdom of Bernicia. ... In the middle of the town is the Haddington Town House, completed in 1745 based on a plan by William Adam.

Haddington is a genteel, orderly town set amongst agricultural country in East Lothian. The burgh is situated snugly under the Garleton Hills on the banks of a long lazy s-bend of the River Tyne. Agriculture has long been the basis for Haddington's prosperity.

We take the Gimbal Walk TV cameras for a wander through the streets of Haddington to find out what this Scottish town is really like

DUNBAR Scotland - voted “one of the best places in Scotland to live”

DUNBAR Scotland, voted as “one of the best places in Scotland to live” by the Sunday Times is worth a visit so we have come to explore Dunbar and see what's happening!
Also watch our video of Edinburgh -

Welcome to Dunbar, East Lothian Scotland, your next favourite destination for days out, staycation, holidays or maybe even your next home.

It's been dubbed 'Sunny Dunny' thanks to a reputation for the most hours of sunshine of any UK town, and with coast-meets-countryside scenery, a charming harbour and vibrant high street, it's little wonder Dunbar was named by the Sunday Times as “one of the best places in Scotland to live”.

Dunbar has so much to fall in love with, from local unique shopping, great places to eat or some incredibly beautiful natural surroundings. Once you’ve discovered Dunbar we think you’ll never forget it!

Dunbar is a town on the North Sea coast in East Lothian in the south-east of Scotland, approximately 30 miles east of Edinburgh and 30 mi from the English border north of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Dunbar is a former royal burgh, and gave its name to an ecclesiastical and civil parish.

Dunbar is a pleasant town on the North Sea coast of East Lothian, about 30 miles east of Edinburgh.

The town of Dunbar is on the North Sea coast of East Lothian, about 30 miles east of Edinburgh. The town is renowned for its high sunshine record, rugged coastline and attractive countryside. It is steeped in history and was one of the most important Scottish Fortresses in the middle ages. Its ruined castle, which stands guard over the town's twinned harbours, once sheltered Mary Queen of Scots when she fled Edinburgh after the murder of Rizzio.

Dunbar is home to John Muir Country Park which is a nature reserve and can be enjoyed by both a family enjoying the outdoors and the natural history enthusiast. The Park is named after John Muir, the explorer, naturalist and conservationist, who was born in Dunbar. It supports a wide range of habitats, birds and plants and covers some of the most spectacular East Lothian coastline.

Dunbar’s broad high street is packed full of unique local businesses providing customers with a great retail experience and boasts several grand old stone buildings. There are award winning food and drink establishments and quirky places to stay including hotels, guest houses and campsites.

Other family fun attractions in Dunbar include East Links Family Park and Foxlake Adventures. East Links Family Park is a farm-based activity park suitable for all ages. A train safari runs through paddocks of friendly farm animals and there are lots of activities including go karts, trampolines, soft play ball blast area and a tree-level multi activity fortress. Foxlake Adventures, Scotland’s first wakeboard cable tow is great fun for beginners and experienced wakeboarders. They have also opened a unique ropes challenge taking place over water.

Dunbar is also home to a leisure pool, with wave machine, beach area, flume and other exciting water features. It also has a health suite with sauna, solarium and steam room, and a fully equipped gym.

“Dunbar is a real hidden Scottish gem, with accessible wide high streets, cool independent shops and so much to discover!”

Dunbar, Scotland - Hidden gem you must visit 4K Cinematic video

My ETSY:
Dunbar

Hello and welcome to another video where we explore together chunks of Scottish history. Welcome to Dunbar.

Dunbar, is not on the list for most travellers, but an absolute gem for those who visit it. Dunbar is full of ancient ruins, a stunning coastline, a busy fishing port and a welcoming town centre.
An easy day trip from Edinburgh, Dunbar is an excellent destination for spending your day. if you like shots from this place, please check out my Etsy store where you can buy prints of my best photos from here.

Dunbar is known as the birthplace of John Muir. A conservationist who changed the world. John Muir was born here on April 1838. He emigrated to the USA aged 11 with his family in search of a better life. John Muir went on to become an inspirational person and is known as the Father of America’s National Parks. He often writes of Dunbar and how it inspired his love of nature.

Dunbar, Scotland's history dates to the 11th century, but archaeological excavations show evidence of civilization residing in the area long before that time. The ruins of Dunbar Castle sit at the entrance of Victoria harbour. The Castle has played witness to many major events in Scottish history. In the year 1370, Dunbar was named a royal burgh and Mary, Queen of Scots even stayed at the castle (more than once). However, the castle was purposely destroyed in 1568, leaving it in ruins. In September 1650, a Scottish army of 22,000 was defeated by a Cromwellian force, of half the size, at the Battle of Dunbar. Cromwell went on to take Edinburgh which led to Scotland becoming part of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland in 1653.

NORTH BERWICK - The perfect Scotland seaside town?

North Berwick in Scotland is a stunningly beautiful seaside town on the North Coast of East Lothian just outside Edinburgh. Let's explore North Berwick together!
Also watch our Edinburgh Video -

North Berwick is a very pleasant seaside town in East Lothian, boasting great beaches and coastal scenery, and the Scottish Seabird Centre. It is also home to the 5-star Scottish Seabird Centre, and nearby attractions includes the mighty Tantallon Castle to the east and Dirleton Castle to the west.It is situated on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, approximately 20 miles east-northeast of Edinburgh.

North Berwick became a fashionable holiday resort in the nineteenth century because of its two sandy bays, the East (or Milsey) Bay and the West Bay, and continues to attract holidaymakers. Golf courses at the ends of each bay are open to visitors.

The name Berwick means barley farmstead (bere in Old English means barley and wic means farmstead). Alternatively, like other place names in Scotland ending in 'wick', this word means 'bay' (Old Norse: vík). The word North was applied to distinguish this Berwick from Berwick-upon-Tweed, which throughout the Middle Ages the Scots called South Berwick. It was recorded as Northberwyk in 1250

North Berwick has breathtaking beaches and general coastal scenery, as well as loads of good places to eat, drink and shop. It's also home to the famous Scottish Seabird Centre, where you can discover more about the local puffins and the world's largest colony of northern gannets.

North Berwick is the most expensive seaside town in Scotland, with an average house price of £401,590. North Berwick, in East Lothian, has been named the best place to live in Scotland. It topped of a list of eight locations across Scotland chosen in the annual Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide.

North Berwick is a very pretty seaside town in East Lothian with attractive beaches and lots of activities for tourists, less than an hours drive from Edinburgh. The two sandy beaches are located on each side of the old pier and they were the reason for North Berwick to become a holiday resort in the 19th century and today it still is. Another reason for tourists to visit the town was the large open swimming pool which was housed on the site of the Scottish Seabird Centre, the pool was closed in 1995.

St Andrews Old Kirk - From a historic point of view North Berwick played an important role for many pilgrims on their way to St. Andrews. The first mention of a port in North Berwick was in 1177. During mediaeval times up to 10,000 pilgrims a year were ferried across the Forth to Earlsferry in fife, en route to St. Andrews. The present harbour is the result of many improvement carried out in the 18th and 19th centuries, often after storm damage. Located in the harbour area are the remains of St. Andrews Old Kirk. Nowadays the porch and remains of walls are left but the church played an important role for the pilgrims in the earlier days.

ST ABBS | Tour of St Abbs Scotland [Avengers Endgame filming location!]

St Abbs Scotland is a small fishing village near Eyemouth on the South Eastern coast of Scotland and is famous as the filming location for New Asgard in Avengers Endgame, and the Harry Styles music video Adore You!

St Abbs is a small fishing village on the southeastern coast of Scotland, within the Coldingham parish of Berwickshire. The village was originally known as Coldingham Shore, the name St Abbs being adopted in the 1890s.

The village is surrounded by craggy cliffs and there are many rocky outcrops around the harbour area and along the coast. ... A signed cliff-top path runs from Creel Road towards the Blue Flag sandy beach at Coldingham Bay, and the 134-mile long John Muir Way is close by.

St Abbs Scotland is a small, picturesque fishing village situated at the foot of the St Abb’s Head National Nature Reserve and adjacent to the St Abbs and Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve. The area is internationally important for its rugged landscape and wildlife, both above and below the waves.

The St Abbs Visitor Centre provides a natural starting point for every visitor to the Berwickshire coastline, whether you are here for walking, birdwatching, diving, fishing or just exploring. Overlooking St Abbs Harbour and occupying the old Village Hall, the Centre offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape in a stunning contemporary setting. Here you’ll discover the history and culture of St Abbs past and present through interactive displays and exhibits.

St Abbs Eyemouth is a lovely little fishing village in it's own right, but more recently has been used as the filming location for Thor's home of New Asgard as well as having Harry Styles filming his music video 'Adore You' in the fishing port here.

Movies Filmed at St. Abbs Harbour
6 Seaview Terrace from Avengers: Endgame. 53 m.
Hilltop above Horsecastle Bay from Avengers: Endgame. 915 m.
Road to St. Abb's Head from Avengers: Endgame. 2.0 km.

St Abbs is a popular site for scuba divers. The sea around the village is unusually clear, in contrast to the more silt-laden coastal waters further to the north or south. These clear waters and the spectacular underwater scenery resulted in Britain's first Voluntary Marine Reserve being established at St Abbs.

Edinburgh can't be recommended enough and even if you thought that people had hyped it up too much to you, when you get there you immediately see that they havent' and fall in love with this spectacular and very beautiful city. Surely one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

If you're visiting Scotland for a holiday or a tour then make sure to visit other towns and cities too such as Glasgow City Centre which is fantastic, or maybe head out to places like Dunbar or Kelso which aren't far from here.

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland and really is a stunning and historic city well worth a visit if you are travelling up north of the border, or if you are Scottish but for some reason haven't visited yet.

Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.

Cockburn Street Edinburgh a winding street that joins Edinburgh's Royal Mile at the High Street to Waverley Bridge Edinburgh's main Rail Station.

Victoria Street is one of the city's prettiest streets and was built between 1829-34 as part of a series of improvements to the Old Town, with the aim of improving access around the city. It's thought to be the inspiration for Harry Potter Diagon Alley
