Italica Santiponce - Seville, Spain

Our day trip from Seville to Santiponce took about 25 minutes by bus. Santiponce is where the archeological ancient ruins of the Roman City of Italica is found. Italica was founded in the year 206 B.C. That's right 206 before Christ. This is also the place where scenes from the Game of Thrones were filmed (huge fun here :0).

TOP 5 THINGS TO DO IN SEVILLA | BEST CITY IN ANDALUCÍA?

Ostía tío, Sevilla está de Puta Madre!

I visited Analucía during Christmas time, and Sevilla has the number one spot so far in my list. The the architecture, the alleys, the Alcázar, Plaza España, and the cathedral are just incredible. And the people, the people of Sevilla were a treat! Everyone was incredible nice with us and with our dog Kevin.

I also visited during Christmas time which made our visit even more enjoyable, with decorations everywhere and Christmas music everywhere, Sevilla went from Amazing to Magical.

Hope you guys enjoy it and like always... See you on the next one!

Via de la Plata 1/10, from Seville to Monesterio, Camino de Santiago | CaminoWays.com

The Vía de la Plata is the longest of all the Camino de Santiago routes, travelling from Andalucía, in the South of Spain all the way to Galicia, in the North-West. The first section of the Via de la Plata Camino route starts in magnificent Seville, crossing Andalucía’s countryside, the Sierra Norte National Park and finishing in Monesterio, gateway to the Extremadura region. The route from Seville will be dotted with Roman ruins. Following paths among orange and olive groves, you will also encounter some of the famous black pigs used for some of the best cured ham in the country.

The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrimage routes that lead to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain, where the remains of the apostle Saint James are believed to be buried.

The Camino Via de la Plata, which translates to Way of the Silver in English also is known as the Southern Way. It begins in the ancient city of Seville and passes through the regions of Andalusia, Extremadura, and Castilla y Leon and is known for its beautiful landscapes, rich history, and cultural significance and offers a unique opportunity to connect with the land and with oneself, as well as with other travelers along the way.

People have been walking the Via de la Plata for millennia as it started out as a Roman trading route. You will be constantly reminded that you are on the original route that joined the cities of Merida and Astorga, from the old roman road surfaces you walk on, to seeing the old roman millenario mile markers columns that used to mark the way.
Whilst the VLP officially ends in Astorga, most pilgrims follow the arrows down the Camino Sanábres to Santiago via Ourense as I do in this video.

This was quite a Camino adventure for me. Although I had walked 3 Caminos before, this one was longer, more remote and a little harder to plan and manage as I went along.

1,200 kms over 60 days. I started in Seville on the Via de la Plata aka the VdlP. I headed north to Astorga, where I joined the Camino Frances briefly. Then at Ponferrada I veered off onto the Camino Invierno. The 'Winter Route'. And on reaching Santiago, I continued on to Finisterre (Fisterra) and Muxia.

It was an amazing journey, completing 3 different Camino routes and visiting another briefly (Camino Frances).

Each route was very different. But I was surprised at the end, to discover which Camino route I enjoyed the most!

???? 8 Common Fears about the Camino:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Camino de Santiago consists of numerous pilgrimage paths across Europe, all leading to St. James's tomb in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. THese include:

1. **Camino Francés**, the most renowned, crosses northern Spain, starting in France.
2. **Camino Portugués**, from Lisbon or Porto, combines urban and rural landscapes.
3. **Camino del Norte** offers picturesque views along Spain's northern coast.
4. **Camino Primitivo**, the first known pilgrimage route, is both challenging and rewarding.
5. **Camino Inglés**, preferred by English and Irish pilgrims, is shorter and commences at the ports of Ferrol or A Coruña.
6. **Via de la Plata**, the longest route, initiates in Seville and traverses western Spain.
7. **Camino Francés from Sarria** covers the last 100 km, the minimum required for the official pilgrimage certificate.
8. **Camino de Finisterre and Muxía** starts from Santiago, ending at the End of the World.
9. **Camino Portugués Coastal Route** is an alternative coastal path from Porto.
10. **Camino Sanabrés** offers less-traveled paths from Granja de Moreruela, providing a unique spiritual experience.

Each path offers a unique journey through history, culture, and nature, contributing to the rich tapestry of the Camino de Santiago experience.
