Gernika – Lumo es una ciudad con una gran carga simbólica por ser sede de las Juntas de Bizkaia, órgano de gobierno del origen medieval. También es un centro de reivindicación de la paz, como memoria de su terrible bombardeo. Los bombardeos que sufrió durante la Guerra Civil fueron inmortalizados en el genial cuadro de Pablo Picasso. Además de los atractivos que ver en Gernika es un centro de comunicación desde el que hacer excursiones a los mejores destinos de Bizkaia.

Tiny Tour | Lekeitio Spain | An absolute beauty in Basque Country 2019 Autumn
Here I need to apologize for not being able to reach the island, the path is getting extremely slippery when getting close to the island and the water was constantly pushed onto the path. I really wanted to reach it, but sadly I had to give up.
Lekeitio (Spanish: Lequeitio) is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the Spanish Autonomous Community of Basque Country, 53 km (33 mi) northeast from Bilbao. The municipality has 7,293 inhabitants (2005) and is one of the most important fishing ports of the Basque coast. Tourism has an important role during the summer seasons, when the town is a resort with one beach called Isunza and the nearby Carraspio beach in the town of Mendexa.

GERNIKA y MUNDAKA (URDAIBAI) ???? qué ver en el País Vasco
???? Qué ver en Gernika. Este día de viaje por el País Vasco visitaré el pueblo de Elantxobe, bosque de Oma, Gernika (Guernica) y Mundaka, todos ellos dentro de la Reserva Natural de Urdaibai. Aquí podréis ver una pequeña guía de cosas que ver y hacer en Gernika, así como mis impresiones del resto lugares que visite en mi cuarto día de ruta por el País Vasco.
Comenzamos por Elantxobe, un diminuto pueblo de pescadores construido sobre un impresionante acantilado, y adentrándonos más en la Reserva de Urdaibai, hacer una ruta hasta el Bosque de Oma, un mundo mágico de árboles pintados.
También visitamos Gernika, con su museo de la paz y su árbol, y finalizamos en Mundaka.

When you come to visit the Basque Country, you have to make a mandatory stop in Mundaka, a very small but a world famous village for the surfing community. Here you can find the greatest left wave in Europe and it has been on numerous occasions the host of the world championship. So if you come to the Basque Country, Mundaka is a must!
Mundaka is a town that does not reach the 2,000 inhabitants but has all the charm of Basque fishing villages. With its church, its pelota court, the port. That is a village that goes unnoticed on the map, if it were not for these waves. Mundaka is world famous for surfing. It’s proud of having the greatest left wave in Europe, which each year attracts thousands of surfers from all continents. World championships have been hosted here, and these waters have been a witness of legendary duels by the greatest surfers in history.
As I have come to Mundaka, I decided to emulate these gods of water and throw myself to surf. Well, if we consider that today there are no waves and I can’t surf, it's fine for me take a ride on paddle surfing by the Urdaibai estuary. In addition to huge waves, Mundaka also has Urdaibai, an estuary formed by the river Oca meeting with the Bay of Biscay, with such ecological richness that in 1984 is was declared by the UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. And, as you are seeing today, you can enjoy this natural wonder practicing paddle surfing.
The Basque Country: Where Modern Meets Traditional
Honor is joined by Gorka from the Basque Country; a country that is celebrated for its traditions, with a culture and language like no other in the world. Gorka describes the Basque’s “stubbornness” to keep their culture alive, so no wonder it makes up a large part of what you can get up to in the Low Seasons. Bermeo Basque Country Spain
The town of Bermeo is a Biscayan municipality in the Busturialdea region, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country, Spain.
Camino del Norte, 05: Markina a Gernika. Camino de Santiago.
Esta es una de las etapas que no olvidaremos fácilmente. Visitaremos pequeños pueblos como Aitzabel, Munitibar o Gerrikaitz perdidos en los montes de Bizkaia.
Tampoco nos olvidaremos de Bolibar, cuna del libertador Simón Bolívar. Muy cerca de aquí y tras ascender por una calzada medieval llegamos a la colegiata de Santa María de Zenarruza, con claustro renacentista y hospedería para peregrinos.
Y entre aquellos pequeños pueblos y tras pasar el puente Artzubi, del siglo XVII, llegamos a Eletxalde, en Urdaibai, Reserva de la Biosfera.
Todavía nos queda algún repecho más antes de llegar a Gernika-Lumo, nuestro final de etapa. Gernika es la sede de las Juntas Generales de Bizkaia y lugar también en el que el Presidente del Gobierno Vasco, el Lehendakari, jura su cargo junto al Árbol de Gernika.
Es una etapa completa de cultura y naturaleza por el interior de Bizkaia.

Tiny Tour | EA Spain | A quiet little fishing town from 16th century 2019 Autumn
EA (same in Basque) is a municipality and town on the northeast coast of the province of Biscay , Basque Country ( Spain ), 50 km from Bilbao , with 836 inhabitants. The town has a beach and a port that are overflowing in summer, although in winter they’re nearly empty. The river reaches the sea, leaving it almost without water when there is low tide.

El último Lunes de Gernika se celebra el último Lunes de Octubre. Es la Feria Agrícola más importante de Bizkaia y una de las más destacadas de todo Euskadi. Es un mercado tradicional que se celebra en la calle con centenares de puestos de hortalizas, fruta y verdura. Con un protagonismo destacado para las afamadas alubias de la localidad. Pueden reunirse centenares de puestos. 293 este Año. Si buscas la mejor miel, queso, txakoli de Bizkaia, sidra u hortalizas este es tu sitio y tu momento. También puedes degustar los deliciosos talos. Los bertsolaris amenizan la mañana. En esta feria no hay venta de ganado.
