Gamarra is the largest clothing and textile market — if not the largest informal market — in Latin America. If you like to shop till you drop, Gamarra is a must-see for clothing aficionados. I recommend it as an off-the-beaten path activity you won’t find in other tourist guides.
Up to 40% of Latin American businesses are informal; they don’t report to the government or pay taxes. This percentage was declining as Peru’s government tackles informality, and it seemed every Gamarra vendor we patronize issues a formal receipt and even accepts Visa.
But the influx of hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans, many of whom work in Gamarra, has probably pushed the percentage of informality back up above 40%. So visiting Gamarra is a fun way to see the informal economy in action for economic nerds like me.
Located in the La Victoria district, Gamarra’s 20,000 textile shops, manufacturers, contractors and retailers employ over 100,000 people. The Gamarra economy is estimated at over $1.4 billion a year. Taking up 24 square blocks, the area receives an estimated 100,000 visitors a day. Most of them visit during the weekends. If you don’t like crowds, skip Gamarra altogether.
At Gamarra you can find everything: t-shirts, jean, socks and underwear, lingerie, maternity dresses, suits, tuxedos and bridal dresses, shoes, accessories, sports jerseys, hats, traditional Peruvian fabrics like alpaca, imitation replicas of designer brands and more. Seeing all of Gamarra would take weeks. The prices are low, and be prepared to haggle. Being a foreigner, you’ll be quoted higher prices than normal.

There are high-quality clothes in Gamarra. But the problem is that, with 20,000 vendors, finding one is like searching for a needle in a haystack. My recommendation is to avoid the guys who will swarm you in the street with flyers, business cards and coupons to their specific stores. The quality vendors don’t send people into the street.
You’ll see various independent designers in my photos below. You just have to explore, but some interesting ones I’ve found were and Affliction style of men’s t-shirts but feature, instead of skulls, images of the Peruvian indigenous kings and gods. Above is a surf-culture designer similar to Ripcurl or Quiksilver.

El actual territorio de Aguachica se empezó a consolidar en los primeros veinte años del siglo XVIII a partir de la hacienda de San Roque de propiedad de Don Antón García de Bonilla, localizada al oriente de la actual vía cuarenta, hacia la planta del acueducto municipal. Por razones asociadas a una los primeros pobladores de éste asentamiento debieron trasladarse más abajo, alrededor del actual Parque San Roque.
El primer núcleo poblacional era un incipiente núcleo de habitación en propiedades que hacia 1722 pertenecía a Don Casimiro Ramos de Barahoja, articulado al flujo de mercancías y población de Gamarra a Ocaña. Unas décadas después, el 16 de agosto de 1748, mediante concesión Realenga de los terrenos de Aguachica viejo y San Francisco hecho a favor de Don José Lázaro de Rivera se realizó un acto de fundación o reconocimiento de la parroquia, sus fundaciones o refundaciones fueron reconfirmadas por la administración del Virrey José Alfonso Pizarro, entre 1749 y 1753.
Tanto en la fundación de Aguachica como la de san Francisco, hacia 1753 se inició la construcción de algunas casas. Se acepta como fecha de fundación, el 16 de agosto de 1748, habiendo sido elevado a la categoría municipal en virtud de la ordenanza número 40 de 1914.

Today I take you on a walking tour through Miraflores! I have been on many tours of Miraflores and also watched video on Miraflores. BY FAR, this is the best tour you will ever see! This tour has EVERYTHING you need to know and see when visiting Miraflores in Peru.
[The Tour]
We start at the main Miraflores Roundabout! We start at Miraflores Central Park and head towards Parroquia La Virgen Milagrosa (The Catholic Church). Have a quick bite at Bembos for the Fast Food, then towards Parque John F. Kennedy to see some cats.
We then say hi to The Chess Hustlers of Lima before seeing some ancient ruins at Huaca Pucllana with a Llamas bonus feature! We then walk down Berlin Street to see some bars, and then take a look at some Restaurants and Street Food. I talk a little about the Casinos here and show you the The Best Place in Miraflores (Noriplay)!
We then take a look at a local supermarket called: Metro, before Shopping for Souvenirs at Inka Market and the Indian Market. We have a little look at CompuPalace for Electronics and Video Games. We then head towards the ocean and see the Beach and Cliffside Views. Our last stop is Larcomar! WHere we have a little look around and finish the tour at a Peruvian Restaurant called MANGOES where we try some Peruvian Ceviche!

Vale la pena saber que Lima es una ciudad bastante caótica, el llegar e ir al aeropuerto restara bastante tiempo de tus días por lo cual hay que tener en cuenta esto para saber cuanto van a poder recorrer.

Ademas tambien el centro queda bastante lejos de las zonas donde todo el mundo se suele alojar que es San Isidro o Miraflores, por cierto , las zonas mas lindas y seguras de Lima.

Tanto esos barrio como Barranco en nuestra opinión son los puntos imprescindibles que visitar en Lima.

Y despues claro , para conocer un poco de la historia de Peru si o si hay que dirigirse al centro. En cada uno esta si agregar mas cultura con museos , o mas gastronomía. Lo que hicimos nosotros es algo básico para aquellos que quieren irse con un pantallazo de Lima.
