Columbus is Ohio’s state capital. The city’s Scioto Mile is a string of parks on both sides of the Scioto River, with a huge interactive fountain and trails. On the west bank, the COSI science center offers hands-on exhibits and a planetarium. Downtown, the Columbus Museum of Art includes American and European paintings and a sculpture garden. The German Village area has restored brick houses built by 1800s settlers.

In today's video...we drive to Gahanna, Ohio. USA and visit Creekside Park. This is a beautiful area with new developments of shops and restaurants lying along side Big Walnut Creek. Unfortunately on today's visit we came across a flooded park so we were not able to fully experience all of the walkways and scenic vistas that Creekside Park has to offer. It was still very easy to imagine the atmosphere and vibe of this place...with fountains and waterfalls, the restaurants along the creek overlooking the park...would make for an ideal place to shop, walk and sit, eat and drink, and enjoy.

Gahanna, Ohio 4K Street Tour - Driving to Downtown Gahanna
Gahanna is a cute small suburb of Columbus, Ohio. The video starts off on SR 161 to Cherry Bottom Road to Mill Street through downtown. Enjoy the ride!
Gahanna was founded along the Big Walnut Creek in 1849 by John Clark of Ross County from 800 acres (320 ha) of land that his father, Joseph Clark, had purchased from Governor Worthington in 1814. Clark named his property the Gahanna Plantation, from which the City of Gahanna derives its name. The name Gahanna is derived from a Native American word for three creeks joining into one and is the former name of the Big Walnut Creek. The City of Gahanna's Official Seal refers to this confluence of three creeks with the inscription Three In One.
Gahanna maintained a considerable rivalry with the adjacent village of Bridgeport. Located directly across Granville Street from Gahanna and also along the banks of the Big Walnut Creek, Bridgeport was founded in 1853 by Jesse Baughman, a former Franklin County Commissioner. The two villages eventually put aside their differences and merged into one. They adopted the name Gahanna as there was already another village in Ohio called Bridgeport. In March 1881, 55 citizens of Gahanna petitioned Franklin County to incorporate the village. The incorporation was granted in June and was recorded on August 8, 1881.

Today on Doodle the travel bug we go to Columbus, Ohio with the kids to some of our favorite free and unique spots. We made a list of our 3 best must do in Columbus.
#3 Adventure Aquarium Columbus. This is a giant aquarium store and its as good as any aquarium in any zoo. It's filled with thousands of fish and exotic marine life. It is a fun free way to spend an hour with kids in Columbus.
#2 We go to the most charming suburb of Columbus, Ohio .... Dublin, Ohio. For the Dublin Ohio Irish Fairy Door Trail. We start our Fairy Door adventure by starting in historic Dublin at the Dublin Visitors center, where we pick up our Fairy Door Passport, that points us in the right direction for the trail. We walk around the city and go to 11 different local businesses to find their resident fairy. Once you find all the doors and write down the fairy's name, you turn in your Fairy Passport and the town of Dublin will send you a FREE Tshirt.
#1 We go to The American Whistle Company and watch how whistles are made. We see it start off as coiled brass to the end and how they get that little ball inside. So this is not a completely free tour, I should mention, the virtual tour is free, but guests pay $5 for this 45 minute factory tour. However it does end with each guest receiving a brass whistle hot off the press.

It is exciting to see just how much there is to do in this State! Get out, explore, discover, enjoy, and repeat!
