Głogów to piekne miasto w zachodniej Polsce, w województwie dolnośląskim, położone na Dolnym Śląsku, siedziba powiatu głogowskiego oraz gminy wiejskiej Głogów. Umiejscowione nad rzeką Odrą. Głogów jest szóstym co do wielkości miastem w województwie. Miasto usytuowane jest na obszarze Legnicko-Głogowskiego Okręgu Miedziowego.
Glogow Idealne miejsce do odwiedzenia w wakacje.
Glogow nazwa pochodzi od słowa glogh, które oznacza cierń lub kolec. Początkowo głogiem nazywano wszystkie krzewy kłujące, aby z czasem zawęzić tę nazwę do jednej rośliny głogu. Odnosi się ona do właściwości terenów, na których miejscowość została założona i ma związek z roślinnością charakterystyczną dla tego obszaru – teren porośnięty głogiem. Niemiecki językoznawca Heinrich Adamy swoim dziele o nazwach miejscowości na Śląsku wydanym w 1888 roku we Wrocławiu wymienia nazwę miasta zanotowaną w dokumencie z 1213 roku Glogow podając jej znaczenie „Weissdornstadt” – „Miasto głogu”.
Glogow miasto w zlatynizowanej formie cum urbem Glogua oraz urbs Glogus notuje Kronika Thietmara w roku 1010. W 1120 roku wzmiankowany był duce Woyslao Glogoviensi. Później występują także inne warianty tej nazwy: Glogov, castra Glogova oraz Glogou w roku 1208 w falsyfikacie dokumentu z XIV w. W średniowieczu występowała również nazwa w formie żeńskiej Głogowa.
Na przestrzeni dziejów Glogowa występowały następujące niemieckie formy nazwy miasta od XI do XX w. – Glogau oraz Gross-Glogau (XV-XIX w.).
W spisanych po łacinie dokumentach średniowiecznych z 1242 oraz 1318 roku miasto Glogow wymienione jest pod nazwą Glogouia. Nazwę miejscowości w zlatynizowanej staropolskiej formie Glogovia notuje spisana po łacinie w latach 1269–1273 Księga henrykowska.
Głogów Nazwę miejscowości w zlatynizowanej formie „Glogovia” wymienia spisany ok. 1300 roku średniowieczny łaciński utwór opisujący żywot świętej Jadwigi Vita Sanctae Hedwigis[18]. Około 1300–1305 r. w łacińskiej Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis (pol. „Księdze uposażeń biskupstwa wrocławskiego”) miejscowość Glogow wymieniona jest w zlatynizowanej formie Glogovia. Źródło to wymienia również wsie, które obecnie zostały wchłonięte przez miasto i stanowią jego części bądź dzielnice jak Wróblin Głogowski pod nazwą Wroblino, Obora, Brzostów zanotowany pod nazwą Brustow oraz Krzepów zapisany w formie Crzepowo.
W pruskim urzędowym dokumencie z 1750 roku wydanym języku polskim w Berlinie przez Fryderyka Wielkiego miasto wymienione jest pośród innych śląskich miejscowości jako Glogow[8]. Późniejsza nazwa niemiecka Glogau jest zgermanizowaną nazwą pierwotnej słowiańskiej i nie ma ona znaczenia w języku niemieckim. Stała się ona urzędową nazwą miasta dopiero po zajęciu Śląska przez Prusy w wyniku trzech wojen śląskich z Austrią[potrzebny przypis]. Nazwę Głogow w książce „Krótki rys jeografii Szląska dla nauki początkowej” wydanej w Głogówku w 1847 wymienił śląski pisarz Józef Lompa.
Słownik geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego wydany pod koniec wieku XIX podaje wiele wariantów nazw miejscowości: niemiecką Glogau oraz polskie – Głogów, Głogówek na Szląsku, a także Głogów Dolny lub Wielki oraz w formie żeńskiej Głogowa Dolna lub Wielka, a po niemiecku Gross-Glogau i Ober-Glogau oraz Klein-Glogau.

Świdnica is a town that occupies the south-western part of Poland. The city is very often called the heart of Europe, which is also very closely related to its location - in the immediate vicinity of Świdnica there is the A4 motorway, which is an important element creating one of the European communication routes. When it comes to the geographical location of Świdnica, it is situated at the foot of the Sudetes and the Wałbrzyskie Mountains. It also covers the area of the Świdnica Plain. Świdnica is one of the largest cities in Lower Silesia (the city covers an area of approximately 21 square kilometers). Świdnica can pride itself on over 700 years of history. This historic city used to have a typical merchant character, it also served as one of the capitals of the former Duchy of Świdnica-Jawor.
The Old Town is considered to be the center of the whole Świdnica. Its areas began to take shape in the Middle Ages and in the following years it has undergone further transformations to the present day. What is the undeniable attraction of the whole city is the fact that both its center - the Old Town, and the outskirts are surrounded by as many as 11 beautiful and picturesque parks. Due to its geographic location, Świdnica is undoubtedly an important tourist center, visited by many visitors from various parts of Poland. In addition to its geographical values, the city can also boast some objects that make its visit a real paradise for many tourists. When talking about the monuments of Świdnica, it is necessary to mention some sacred buildings, which are very important in this city. One of such buildings is certainly the Church of Peace under the invocation of the Holy Trinity, which not only plays a significant role in Świdnica - it is also considered the most valuable sacred building related to the Protestant art of the entire Silesia. It is also a building that can boast of being the largest wooden church in the entire European continent. This sacred building is closely related to the Thirty Years' War, or rather its end, during which it was decided to build a church. Another extremely fascinating sacred building in Świdnica, which is visited by many tourists with great enthusiasm, is the cathedral of Saint Stanislaus and Wenceslaus. This monument also stands out in a special way both in Silesia and the whole country. It is the cathedral tower, which ranks third in terms of height in Poland, and it is the second among the buildings in Silesia.
While in Świdnica, it is impossible not to go, of course, in the direction of the famous Old Town, where the Świdnica market and the town hall are located. The unusual ornament of the market square, which is another considerable attraction for tourists, is a group of sculptures, which is the work of a local artist - Georg Weber. There are many more interesting objects in Świdnica that tell about the history, tradition and culture of this city.

How Do Polish Villagers React To a Black Foreigner? (Social Experiment)
There is a stigma around black people when it comes to traveling in certain countries, especially in Eastern Europe. Is it because some people of colour complain about their experiences in European countries as a minority and how they think they are not treated well? In my travel videos across Europe I have been documenting my own reality of life as a foreigner and my experiences on how I engage with the local people I come across on my journeys where ever it is on or off the camera all of my encounters are the same.. My travels are comfortable and enjoyable and definitely loads fun. I do not feel like a victim or threatened because my colour when I travel. I believe this channel can educate people from an aspect that not all people of colour are always discriminated or judged, this can be seen in all my films from me showing my encounters in some of the most remote places I have visited in Europe such as, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and England. Although I know some people are racist but for their own reasons.. What advice can I give to anyone that wants to travel no matter the country you travel to or what your colour is. Be fearless, friendly and open to learn a few phrases for interactions, because I know it takes a lot of effort for people and confidence to approach a random stranger and start a conversation and that’s what my spontaneous village travels are about - interacting with the locals and showing how life is on the outside of the big cities and towns. Watch me on this village tour which is far from a touristic location where foreigners usually don’t go. Let’s have look how the Polish people interact with a foreigner. It is also the administrative seat of Gmina Głogów, although it is not part of its territory (the town forms a separate urban gmina). Głogów is the sixth largest town in the voivodeship; according to the 2004 census estimate the town had a total population of 71,686. The name of the town derives from głóg, the Polish name for hawthorn.
Głogów consists of the following residential districts: Brzostów, Chrobry, Hutnik, Kopernik (Copernicus), Kościuszki, Ostrów Tumski (Church Island), Paulinów, Piastów Śląskich, Sportowe, Przemysłowe, Słoneczne, Stare Miasto (Old Town), Śródmieście, Żarków. Miasto usytuowane jest na obszarze Legnicko-Głogowskiego Okręgu Miedziowego.
31 marca 2011 r. w mieście zameldowanych było 69 608 mieszkańców.
Głogów jest jednym z najstarszych miast Polski. Pierwsze wzmianki o Głogowie pochodzą z 845, z mapy Europy Geografa Bawarskiego[potrzebne źródło]. Gród założony został już w X w., przez słowiańskie plemię Dziadoszan i był położony na prawym brzegu Baryczy. Plemienny gród został zdobyty przez Mieszka I, który około 989 roku zbudował nowy większy gród w widłach Baryczy i Odry na terenie dzisiejszej kolegiaty na Ostrowie Tumskim. Gród miał kształt owalu o wymiarach 108 × 78 metrów. Wnętrze szczelnie zajmowały liczne budynki o konstrukcji zrębowej ustawione równoległe do ulicy, a w miejscu dzisiejszej kolegiaty istniał niewielki kamienny kościół.
