Today we’re taking you to some of Colombia’s most breathtaking landscapes with the most delicious smells … the coffee axis! We made some really fun discoveries during this trip so stay tuned to hear about our favorite surprises!
The coffee axis, the coffee triangle, or el eje cafetero as it’s known around here, is the region famous for growing of Colombian coffee. It’s considered the Andean rainforest with a cool climate perfect for cultivating coffee ranging from 8-24 degrees celsius (45-75 F). The Coffee Culutral Landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage site that includes the departments of Caldas, Risaralda, Quindío, and Tolima. Towns like Salento, Finlandia, Valle de Cocora and Circasia make up the beautiful region on Colombia.

Filandia , One of the best kept Secrets of Colombia ????????
In todays video we start off in Armenian then catch a bus to Filandia , Colombia where we spend the day and evening exploring the Beautiful small town . I actually had never heard of Filanda until the day before , needless to say it's not as well know and has a more local feel when compared with other more know towns in the region .
Filandia is a town and municipality in the northern part of the department of Quindío, Colombia. It is located on the west side of Cordillera Central of the Andes mountain range running through central Colombia, 26 km north of the departmental capital Armenia. It is the northernmost of twelve municipalities that form Quindío, the second smallest department of Colombia. It houses a small community economically supported by agriculture and tourism.
Located within the Colombian coffee growing axis, the historic center of the town was made part of the Coffee Cultural Landscape UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.[1]
Although coffee is the major agricultural product, the municipality's diverse ecosystem makes it perfect for the production of numerous fruits and vegetables. The population is evenly split between the urban and rural areas, with an urban population in the town of Filandia itself of nearly 7000 inhabitants and a population of around 6500 in the rest of the municipality. Most of the population is classified as mestizo and the most common religion is Roman Catholic. The town's architecture, landscapes and the sociability of the locals makes Filandia one of the most beautiful and attractive towns in the department of Quindio and the nation. The town's best-known tourist attractions are its mirador (viewing tower) with its extensive views over the Cauca River valley to the west and the Parque Nacional Natural los Nevados to the east (it is also possible to see both Armenia and Pereira from the top of the tower), and the cafe in the main square where scenes from the popular Colombian telenovela Cafe, con aroma de mujer were filmed. FILANDIA - The most colourful town in Colombia you don't know about.
After visiting Filandia, I wondered if I should have stayed here rather than in Salento, when visiting Valle de Cocora. The town is much less touristy and no less colourful than Salento.
Filandia, at its location at 2000m, has great views of the surrounding region, particularly if one were to walk to its Mirador Colina Iluminada. Iglesia María Inmaculada is beautiful too.

Filandia is a small town (7000 inhabitants) located in the state of Quindio, Colombia, about twenty kilometers from the departmental capital Armenia. It is at the heart of the so-called Eje Cafetero in the center-west of Colombia, in the middle of the Western and Central Cordillera of the Andes. This coffee zone, still called the coffee triangle, has three main departments: Caldas (manizales), Risaralda (Pereira) and Quindío (Armenia), but also part of Valle del Cauca, Antioquia and Tolima.

Filandia Quindio, Colombia: Locals Guide - El Pueblo mas Bonito de Colombia (Colombia Vlog)
Hey Guys!
Filandia (not Finlandia like I was saying throughout this video lol whoops) is an incredible city. It is vibrant and welcoming, it is a bit more touristy than Marsella and easier to get to so that has its ups and downs, but I would say this was a place that took me by surprise. I have the link to the restaurant down below and if there is anything else you have questions about leave me a comment! After Filandia we went to Salento where we went glamping - literally stayed in a tent called the Hippie Hilton lol which was so cool. We also visited the incredible Valle de Cocora which was actually insane so make sure you subscribe so you don't miss those! And of course Medellin and more are coming soon too!
I just got back from San Francisco so I will also have that vlog done shortly, it was my first time, but I got to see a lot and visit Napa Valley too :) I'll be heading to Miami in a couple weeks for Ultra and Miami Music week and I'll have videos about that coming up too!
