Faribo West Mall (Faribault, MN) - retro, small town mall
This mall is a gem! Built in 1978, the owners have done their best to leave its retro look while making minor updates. The mall nearly doubled in size in the 1990s and shrank back in the mid-2000s. How did they do that without leaving a mark? I was fascinated to learn the answer.
The inside of the mall is amazing with slanted roofs above the inside tenants. I hope you enjoy it!

Day Trips From MSP: Northfield
Home to Jesse James infamous botched robbery, a historic downtown, two world class colleges, hiking, biking and breweries. Northfield is a gem of Northern hospitality and it is only 45 minutes south of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
Faribo Town Square (Faribault, MN) - former retail mall
If you're a Minnesotan or a Minnesota mall fan, you may know about Faribo West Mall. It's clearly visible off the east side of I-35 when driving between the Twin Cities and Des Moines. But did you know about its older sibling to the east? Just as West Virginia is west of Virginia, Faribo West Mall is west of Faribo Town Square.
This simple office complex has a surprising bit of history going back to the 1960s when it was built as a retail mall. Come learn about its past and current state.
NOTE: If you are planning to visit this mall, it's only open Monday-Friday.

Sakatah Singing Hills Bike Tour Day 3 Mankato to Faribault (May 6, 2022)
We kicked off our 2022 bike touring season with a two night, three day ride on the Sakatah Singing Hills Trail from Faribault to Mankato. Our third day of riding was a 40 mile ride from Mankato back to. We had a beautiful day for the last day of our short bike tour. It was nice to see that the Minnesota DNR had completely redone the trail making it a wonderful bicycling surface.
