There are two kind of public transport cards in Istanbul for tourists: “Istanbulkart” and “Istanbul City Card.” You can get these cards at airport or city centre on machines with your credit card or cash in Turkish Lira.
Istanbulkart
To get this card you have to pay first a card fee (50 TL, in May 2023). Then you have to charge money on it with a machine. The charge limit for one month is 500 TL (in May 2023). If this card is not used for 2 years, it becomes out of use.
In order to use the card in a transportation vehicle, you must have your card swiped. A one ride takes 9.90 Turkish lira (May 2023).
Istanbulkart is valid in buses, funicular, metrobus, metro, suburban trains, ferry, tram, İstanbul metropolitan municipality social facilities, public toilets, some markets (Migros, Carrefour…).
If there’s money on your card, you can’t get it back, but you can use it on markets or social facilities.
Istanbul City Card
Istanbul City Card is a prepaid public transportation card that gives you unlimited access to public transportation for the number of days you choose: 1, 3, 5, 7, 15.

5 DAYS UNLIMITED € 44
7 DAYS UNLIMITED € 52
15 DAYS UNLIMITED € 78
You can use it like the “IstanbulKart.” The only difference is, that this “Istanbul City card” is unlimited for one person.

Now you can use public transportation vehicles (except MARMARAY) without Istanbulkart or Istanbul City Card, only with your contactless credit card. Of course, Istanbulkart or Istanbul City Card is cheaper. But it is also a great advantage to be able to use the contactless credit card when those cards are not available.

Esenyurt, a famous district of Istanbul Province that belongs to a metropolitan municipality of the city. It is situated on the European part of the city and shares its borders with Avcılar district and Lake Küçükçekmece on the eastern part; Büyükçekmece on the western region; Başakşehir, Arnavutköy and TEM road on the northern region; and Beylikdüzü and E-5 motorway on the southern portion. Its municipality exists since 1989 and its total area is 2.770 hectares.
senyurt district istanbul underwent major development in the last few years since huge residential complexes started coming up in the region. The district accommodates four cultural centers, including Esenyurt Cultural Centre, Saadetdere Cultural Centre, Yenikent Cultural Centre and Yunus Balta Cultural Centre. It also includes four parks, namely, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Park, Şehitler Park, Gaziler Park and Kadir Topbaş Park; all part of the residential complexes.
Esenyurt's residential area gained attraction owing to the existence of newly built properties which are available at lower prices compared to the centre of Istanbul. The University of Istanbul Esenyurt is located in the district, which shares its proximity with other famous universities such as Beykent, Fatih, Istanbul Arel, Istanbul and Istanbul Gelişim Universities. The district also has TUYAP Exhibition and Conference Centre which is located just 5 km from the famous location of Esenyurt center and 26 km from the Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Instead of individual shops, there are many shopping centers along the roads. Esenyurt has mainly three shopping complexes, including Eskule Shopping Centre, Torium Shopping Centre and Akbatı AVM.
Esenyurt district istanbul is expected to attract huge scale of investments in near term, particularly in the transportation sector. The development of transportation is expected to take place near D100 and TEM highways and its associated roads because they are easily accessible from all parts of the city. Hence, some major real estate brands are showing interest for mega projects in these areas.

Esenyurt (Turkish: [e's̪æn̪juɾt]) is a district of the Istanbul Province and is a part of the metropolitan municipality of Istanbul. Located in the European side of Istanbul, Esenyurt borders with Avcılar and Lake Küçükçekmece on the east, Büyükçekmece on the west, Başakşehir, Arnavutköy and TEM road on the north and Beylikdüzü and E-5 motorway on the south. The district covers an area of 2.770 hectares and has its own municipality since 1989.
With the construction boom of large residential complexes in the area in the past few years, Esenyurt benefited from a major development. It now has four cultural centres, which are Esenyurt Cultural Centre, Saadetdere Cultural Centre, Yenikent Cultural Centre and Yunus Balta Cultural Centre. Four parks built in Esenyurt (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Park, Şehitler Park, Gaziler Park and Kadir Topbaş Park) are also situated among the complexes.
History
The district is mainly built on the land owned by Ekrem Ömer Paşa in the 19th century. The name Esenyurt drives from one of the land owners Eşkinoz. The area received migration from Romania and Bulgaria between 1920 and 1938, and had more recent migration mainly from Ardahan and Kars, as well as Erzurum and Artvin.
