Venice Beach is the busiest facility operated by the Department of Recreation and Parks. This iconic site attracts visitors from all over the world and it is estimated that approximately 28,000 to 30,000 people visit the Venice Beach Boardwalk and adjacent Recreation and Parks property on a daily basis. The Boardwalk, also known as Ocean Front Walk, is the second most-visited destination in Southern California, with an average of over ten (10) million visitors per year. Geography
Erwin is located at 36°8′42″N 82°24′39″W (36.145036, -82.410796),[19] The town is situated in a valley at the confluence of North Indian Creek, which approaches from the northeast, and the Nolichucky River, which enters the valley from the mountains to the southeast. Just before reaching Erwin, the Nolichucky passes through a narrow gorge popular with whitewater rafters.

Erwin is surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest, and mountains dominate the view in all directions. Buffalo Mountain rises to the north, Rich Mountain rises to the west, and the Unaka Mountains rise to the south and east.
The Appalachian Trail passes east of Erwin. The trail crosses the Nolichucky near the western end of the Nolichucky Gorge, at a place known as Unaka Springs. Nearby is Moaning Rock, a large boulder near the trail that is supposed to be the site of a long ago murder of a stranger. According to local lore, the murdered man's spirit is still around, and if anyone stands on or even touches the rock, ...it moans as if under a heavy burden.[20]
Interstate 26 passes through western and southern Erwin. Tennessee State Route 107 (North Main Avenue) connects Erwin to Unicoi to the north and the Embreeville area and Washington County to the west. Tennessee State Route 395 connects Erwin with the rural parts of Mitchell and Yancey counties to the east in North Carolina, crossing the Unakas at the 3,100-foot (940 m) Indian Grave Gap (the road becomes North Carolina Highway 197 at the state line).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.5 square miles (9.1 km2), of which 3.5 square miles (9.1 km2) is land and 0.28% is water.

When I was a student growing up in East Tennessee, one of my favorite places to take a class trip was the small town we're showcasing today. Established in 1779 almost two decades before Tennessee was granted statehood, Jonesborough is known as the oldest town in the state.
At the time, this was the western frontier settled by folks from Virginia and North Carolina. By the mid-1780s, it had become a capital city for the autonomous short-lived State of Franklin. It existed just under five years more as a republic and was never admitted into the union by Congress. The Lost State of Franklin became a footnote in American history.
During the early 1800s, Jonesborough became an epicenter for the movement to end slavery. An influential, widely-circulated newspaper that became known as The Emancipator was published in a building that once stood on Main Street. It was the first American periodical dedicated exclusively to the issue of abolition.
Local preservation efforts over the last century have managed to maintain the early American look and vibe of this small town of just under 6,000 residents. A few buildings still stand from the late 1700s. Jonesborough has become a destination for heritage tourism attracting people from all over the world who admire the architecture and want a glimpse into a bygone era.

We got to go to Erwin Orchards in Michigan and what an incredible way to spend the day! We had so much fun apple picking, berry picking and then enjoying some delicious cider and donuts. This was an incredible family friendly place to visit.

We are the Taylors and we LOVE to travel. Even though we have 4 kids and it is hard to travel with kids, we do it anyways because nothing can replace the amazing experiences we get to have together as a family!
Traveling with kids is something we have a lot of practice with. Our first child flew on 23 flights before she was 6 months old. On the 23rd flight, someone asked us if this was our infant's first flight. Every time we go on a trip, our kids' favorite part is usually the hotel pool, but we still do it anyways.
We have gotten to visit Italy, China, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Macau, Mexico, Switzerland, St. Lucia, Barbados, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, Antigua, Taiwan, Singapore internationally and sixteen states in the United States including Alaska. We hope to visit MANY, MANY more places.
