Santa Barbara - Travel Guide | Things to do

Santa Barbara - Travel Guide | Things to do
We recently took a trip to Santa Barbara and I wanted to share our experience as well as things to do in and around the area. We stayed at the Waterman hotel downtown, in the Funk Zone. We were there in early April during the Covid 19 Pandemic and I would say the 60-70% of the people there were wearing masks outside. Very beautiful and scenic city with a lot of things to do.

Almost all video clips in my videos are shot and owned by me. You may NOT use them without my permission. If you are interested in licensing or purchasing any video clips in this video, or you’re looking for specific clips contact me via email (under About tab on my channel page)
I have a huge library of clips that I sell. I can provide Log or graded clips. A small amount of clips are for sale on my Dropbox shop, but that is a small fraction….more will be added in time.

???? A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.

So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.

Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.

We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

BINGHAMTON, NY: in the Southern Tier

Binghamton is the county seat of Broome County, and sits at the confluence of the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers roughly six miles north of the Pennsylvania line in the Southern Tier. It was once a major city in New York, but now is the 14th biggest city, and it clearly has seen better days. It currently is mostly kept afloat by Binghamton University (one of my alma maters) just outside the city. But enjoy this tour all around the city, and judge for yourself!

I Was Trafficked Through The World's Deadliest Jungle

???????? PART TWO: The Darien Gap is known as the world's most dangerous jungle. I had heard of the Darien many years ago through National Geographic and it had both fascinated and intimidated me. I knew one day I would have to visit...

When the word Darien started appearing in the news in recent years by way of the migrant crises I decided that now was the time to explore it for myself. And so myself and my good friend @TimmyKarter headed north from Medellin in search of a way across the infamous jungle, avoiding cartel and bandits, injury and tropical diseases, on an adventure with migrants from all over the world where national laws don't apply. Only the laws of the jungle.

Join us as we enter...the Darien.

This didn't end well - The Stone Door and Ranger Falls at Savage Gulf State Natural Area

It was a Wednesday in August. Work had been sucky. I don't remember the specifics of why. It's like Maya Angelou said - I don't remember what was said or what was done, but I do remember the way it made me feel. I needed to be anywhere else but here, so Marvel invited me for a hike.

Our plan for this one was to head up to what was then Savage Gulf State Natural Area, but is now Tennessee's newest State Park. We'd start at the Stone Door Ranger Station, hike down into Big Creek Gulf via The Stone Door, and complete a roughly ten mile loop. When we woke up that morning the forecast said it was a 20% chance of rain for the area, so I packed a hoodie and an umbrella - just in case.

I had assumed 20% chance of rain meant that if it did rain, it would do so lightly or for a short time. 6.5 miles into our hike the heavens opened and they did not stop for another two hours. We were four miles from the parking lot. Four very wet miles. I am very glad that the rain didn't start until we were already on our way out of the gulf - I can imagine the dry creek crossings at the bottom weren't so dry, or even safe, after the rain started.
