10 Best place to visit in Elmalı Turkey

Elmalı - An unexplored historical city in North Antalya region by drone

In this video, we start by stunning drone views of the historical town Elmalı in the north part of Antalya. Established around 1200 meters above sea level, the city enjoys cool summer days and nights as compared to scorching hot Antalya and surrounding beach area. It is greatly located as one can reach to Mediterranean within an hour and enjoy the beaches as well as hit the mountains as quick as 15 minutes. The highest peak around known as Kızlar Sivrisi which boasts an elevation of 3200 m is 30-40 minutes away from the city center. The town is located within the ancient Lycia region and as one goes into the villages, trails connecting the Lycian towns and the famous Lycian way can be found. Hence walks around this town can be considered as North Lycian walks. The drone views show the historical parts of the town, especially the Ottoman era mosque known as the Ketenci Omer Pasa Mosque from the 16th century. The old bazaar which is still active and the Elmalı Mountain, the public park Topdağı can also be seen in the videos.

After the drone views, we continue our video with a walking tour in the historical part of the town where the old dwellings were restored. This helps preserve the culture of the city in a nice way. I hope you will enjoy the video and come and visit this old town.

Unexplored Breathtaking Mountains: Hiking in Northwestern Antalya in Nomad's Routes

Follow the Goat Trail - Hiking along nomadic lands in Elmalı, Antalya in Northwestern Antalya region.

At the time of the publishing this video, this was one of the unique videos of all YouTube as we have walked and hiked in a remote area of Turkey that is very sparse and only a few people go. So, I hope you enjoy this unique video as much as I have enjoyed while recording.

We hike in northern Antalya mountains, in the region known as 'Güğü Beli' (Güğü Pass) located in the Yapraklı village of Elmalı. Historically it was part of Lycia hence makes our hike a Northern Lycian walk, or in other words the other side of Lycian way. We follow the routes and trails of the local nomads/goat herders as they used to herd their goats in the mountains. We stop and refresh ourselves at the springs that used to water the animals.

The GPS trail of our hike can be found in wikiloc page:

Antalya- Part 1/4 (EXPLORING ELMALI & KALEIÇI)

In his first trip since the devastating COVID-19 outbreak, Brian travels to the Turkish Riviera, a spectacular region which Mustafa Kemal Atatuk called, the most beautiful place on earth. A region who's vast array of cultural and natural wonders, are often overlooked in favor of its beaches and nightclubs.

In 2019, Antalya witnessed a record breaking 13.5 million tourists, but this year's global health crisis has kept all but the most daring travelers out, providing a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the 10th most visited city on earth, tourist free. Brian is pleased to learn that the city for the most part is functioning as normal. All of his preconceptions are tossed out the door, as he quickly discovers why Turkey is unlike any other Muslim country on earth.

Brian arrives in the middle of the night only to learn that his luggage had other plans. With no spare clothes, he is forced to delve into the local shopping scene. After obtaining the necessary articles, he begins his exploration of the city's charming old quarter, visiting popular sites like the Clock Tower and Yiviliminare Mosque, as well as less popular landmarks like the Iskele Mosque and Dervish Lodge Museum.

Elmalı Bir Osmanlı Şehri... #Elmalı #antalya #architectural #historical #oldtown #oldhouse #travel

Finike, Beautiful Place near Antalya Turkey | Creative Tourist

Finike, the ancient Phoenix or Phoinix (Ancient Greek: Φοῖνιξ), also formerly Phineka, is a district on the Mediterranean coast of Antalya Province in Turkey, to the west of the city of Antalya, along the Turkish Riviera. It is located on the southern shore of the Teke peninsula, and the coast here is a popular tourist destination. However, Finike is best known for its oranges, the symbol of the town.
For centuries Finike, then named Phoenix (or Phoinix; Ancient Greek: Φοῖνιξ) was a port town of ancient Lycia, near the mountain of the same name.[5][6] It was a trading port and the main port of Limyra, the capital city of Lycia. Phoenix was said to have been founded by Phoenicians in the 5th century BC, and thus named after its founders.

The area has been inhabited for much longer than that; archaeologists have found evidence near the town of Elmalı showing that the Teke peninsula has been settled since 3000 BC (although on the coast nothing has been uncovered dating before 2000 BC).

Trade along the coast was established first by the Persians, who relinquished Lycia to the armies of Alexander the Great. However, the coast was always vulnerable to forces from Syria, Egypt and Rhodes until it was brought within the empire of the Ancient Romans and the succeeding Byzantines. Even then the Byzantines were threatened by the Arabian armies coming from the Arabian Peninsula. The Battle of the Masts between the Arab and Byzantine fleet took place near Finike in 654. Eventually the area was lost to the Seljuk Turks in the 13th century. These were succeeded by the Ottoman Empire from 1426.

The town was inhabited by Greeks prior to the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey

The district has a population of 46138 according to the 2010 census. The town itself has 11.329 inhabitants. Finike has 4 municipalities(Hasyurt, Sahilkent, Turunçova and Yeşilyurt) and 14 villages.

The local economy depends on agriculture, particularly oranges and other citrus fruits. This is supplemented by income from tourism in the summertime, although because of the lucrative orange production and the distance from Antalya, Finike has not seen the large-scale tourism boom that has so radically changed the other coastal districts of Antalya. Finike is a quiet district where people buzz around on mopeds going about their daily lives. Indeed, many of the visitors that Finike does attract are retired people in search of relaxation. That's mostly because of the construction policy of 1980. That policy made the land more suitable for investment in agriculture rather than in hotels, luxury apartments and other tourist attractions.

A type of pale limestone is quarried at Limyra, and sold as a decorative building material. It is cream colored with a homogeneous structure. Moreover, it is extremely light and that makes it ideal for building walking alleys and streets where only light vehicles pass by. The geologist classify the Limura limestone as with medium density.[9]

The port of Finike is now a yacht marina, and has a small fishing fleet. The coast is rich in marine life, including sea turtles, and fish, including local specialities red porgy (Sparidae) and grouper (Epinephelus); other fish found along the coast include leerfish (Carangidae) and the more widespread Mediterranean varieties such as bluefish, sea bream, sea bass, with swordfish, sardines and others found further out to sea. However, the coast suffers from overfishing, and many varieties, including the porgy, are in decline.

The beaches of Finike are an important nesting ground for Caretta caretta sea turtles, and the rocky parts of the coast are used by the rare Mediterranean monk seal.

The ruins of Limyra are to be seen three miles east of the Finike, they consist of a theatre, tombs, Sarcophagi, bas-reliefs, Greek and Lycian inscriptions, etc.The ancient city of Arycanda, in a narrow valley off the road to Elmalı.The ruins of Trysa with a carved frieze depicting Theseus, on the road to Kaş.The small village of Turuncova, hidden in a small valley of Taurus Mountains, has preserved its traditional lifestyle and culture. The cave of Suluin.Wreck of a Phoenician merchant ship from about 1200 BC in Cape Gelidonya

There are doubtless many more places of antiquity that need to be restored.

12:21 Turkey - when to go?

???? Turkish Rivieras
Many people go to Turkey to take a summer beach vacation there. This country has as many as two Rivieras, not at all inferior to the French original.

☀️ The Turkish Riviera lies in the south of the country, on the Mediterranean coast. There are magnificent, wide beaches, usually well-developed. Among the more popular destinations are Antalya, Alanya, Kemer and Side. From the mainland, they are surrounded by the picturesque Taurus Mountains. Numerous historical sites are also an attraction.

☀️ The second of the rivieras, the Aegean Riviera stretches along the coast of the Aegean Sea. The beaches here are just as lovely, and the water a bit warmer. The most popular destinations in this region are Bodrum, Marmaris or Oludeniz. In addition to the sights, there are great natural attractions, such as the Valley of Butterflies and Iztuzu beach, where karet turtles lay their eggs.

???? Wonderful cities of the Orient
What to see in Turkey besides picturesque beaches? Of course, the cities there, which boast centuries of history. The most famous is Istanbul, which impresses not only with its location, but also with its amazing monuments. It is mandatory to visit the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Suleiman Mosque, take a look at the remains of the defensive walls from different eras and enter the famous Covered Bazaar, where trade has continued uninterrupted for hundreds of years.

☀️ It is worth going to Ankara, the capital of Turkey. This city, located in the center of Anatolia, has an exceptionally long history, traces of which can be seen in the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, among other places. There are also ruins of ancient buildings, a Byzantine fortress and beautiful mosques. Among the most interesting are the Aslanhane and Kocatepe mosques.

☀️ Ankara is also home to the Mausoleum and museum of Atatürk, the founder of the modern secular Turkish state.
A unique city is green Bursa, with a huge number of parks and gardens. It is a well-known health resort and winter sports center. A must-see here is the Great and Green Mosque, the Green Mausoleum and the old silk bazaar.

???? A true wonder of nature, or Pamukkale.
You can't say you know Turkey without visiting Pamukkale. Already the ancients appreciated this unique place. The beautiful travertine terraces formed limestone deposits that precipitated from the thermal water of the surrounding springs. Today, these white stone bowls, waterfalls and terraces filled with blue water create an amazing sight. To protect the place, a national park has been established and trails have been laid out for tourists.

☀️ You can take a dip in the specially provided pools, just as the famous Egyptian queen Cleopatra did centuries ago.
Above the terraces are the ruins of the ancient resort of Hierapolis. The remains of the ancient buildings are still stunning in their beauty.

???? Cappadocia not only from the air
Cappadocia is often associated with hot air balloons. Indeed, balloon flights are very popular here and allow you to see this unusual land from above.

☀️ This part of Turkey owes its original landscape to volcanoes and subsequent weathering. Volcanic tuffs formed unusual conical chimneys through weathering. People took advantage of them by hollowing out first churches and later entire cities.

☀️ The tourist center of Cappadocia is Göreme. There is a unique complex of Byzantine temples with 11th-century frescoes. There are also tufa-carved underground cities in the area, with the largest being Derinkuyu, whose corridors extend as deep as 55 meters into the ground.

☀️ In Cappadocia, you also can't miss visiting the beautiful valleys, with the Valleys of Love and Imagination leading the way.

Turkey, Antalya. Mountain trip

Another fantastic day in Turkey.
A small mountain, near Antalya, about 400 meters high. It would seem low, but what a beautiful view. At the top of this mountain, you feel so helpless in front of the greatness of all these mountains surrounding you.

Cappadocia Turkey BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN 2 DAYS | 4K UHD 60FPS | GOREME,LOVE VALLEY,TURKISH FOODS

Cappadocia incorporates parts of the cities of Aksaray, Nevşehir, Niğde, Kayseri and Kırşehir. For most people, the name Cappadocia suggests the towns of Uçhisar, Göreme, Avanos, Ürgüp, Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı and Ihlara, where the land has been shaped into fantastic forms over the course of millions of years. Fairy chimneys that seem mysterious and cities and houses of worship that extend many meters deep into the earth are all enveloped in an atmosphere that is ethereal and unworldly.
Göreme Open Air Museum

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985, Göreme casts its enigmatic charm for miles. The churches carved into these soft rocks sit still with mystery intact.

Göreme thought to have been used as a necropolis by the inhabitants of Venessa (Avanos) during Roman times. The churches of Durmuş Kadir, Yusuf Koç, El Nazar, Saklı, Meryem Ana (Virgin Mary) and Kılıçlar cast a spellbinding effect on visitors. The Göreme Open Air Museum is where the ideas of Christianity were unified by St Basil the Great and his brothers. The architectural details and frescoes of the Tokalı church, Convent of Monks and Nuns, Chapel of St Basil, and the St. Barbara, Elmalı, Yılanlı, Karanlık and Çarıklı churches seem as alive today as when they were new.

Uçhisar
Imagine a gigantic, porous rock stretching towards the sky and now imagine you are standing on top of that said rock. If you are not in a plane, a balloon or a hawk, the best spot you will soak in the geography would be here, Uçhisar Castle. Uçhisar also has one of the most beautiful walking paths of Cappadocia going right through Pigeon Valley. You should wander through the tunnels opened up by the streams mighty flow, while listening to the pigeons flapping their wings as they leave their nest and saunter through the giant formations in the valley in awe, for knowing that they were sculpted by no one but the nature itself. Today, the castle is surrounded by shops and stalls, selling many souvenirs such as carpets, marble ornaments, mirrors and of course flavorsome dried nuts and fruits keeping you company.

Avanos
Its unusual livelihood is what makes Avanos (Vanessa) intriguing. As the Kızılırmak has made its way flowing patiently through Avanos, the soft and oily clay sourced from the former riverbeds have been the highlight here –making Avanos the home of pottery dating way back to the Hittites. Each individual flaw in clay brings out the authentic beauty in these handmade pieces, then colored in earthy tones and of course turquoise. You can always join a pottery workshop and create your own “happy accident”, shop goodies in lively bazaars and lighten your mood by the riverside.

Red Valley (Kızıl Vadi)
Every other spot here serves the best dreamy sunset, but one sets itself apart from every other: Red Valley. Located just near Çavuşin Village and Ortahisar, Red Valley draws the most romantic and unforgettable moments as the sky takes on crimson red tones. Visitors are encouraged to start their walk through the rare formations red tuff creates just before sunset and take their place at the viewing terrace just at the right moment, to soak in the glamour.
