Where to Eat in Cartagena | Top 10 Best Restaurants
Cartagena is a vibrant city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. It has a lot to offer, including a perfectly preserved Old Town, sunny beaches on the Caribbean Sea, and fantastic food and drinks. The mix of Colombian, African, Caribbean, and Spanish influences make this a truly remarkable food destination. Some people define Cartagena as the country's culinary capital, and we find it very hard to disagree!
Famous chefs choose this city to open up new restaurants that combine contemporary and traditional flavors, and talented mixologists in the many bars throughout the city compete to showcase their craft.
Food in Cartagena is not only about eating but the whole experience. Every place we visited not only offered fantastic food but the ambiance and décor of the restaurants were also as refreshing. Although we ate in so many places that we cannot fit within this video, we selected the ones that stood out the most to share with you.

I got here by plane and a Covid vaccine is still required, so make sure you have that before entering Colombia.
The local currency is the Colombian peso, the exchange rate with the US Dollar is currently 4700.
I booked in most of the places I went to, but for the sunset rooftop bars, try getting there at least an hour before sunset to secure a table.
As always , I realise that this guide doesn’t cover EVERY single activity (like island tours and the walk inside the fortress for example), but after lots of research and traveling in the area, it’s how I personally believe you should spend your time if 2 days is all you have.

Carmen Cartagena - One of my Favorite Restaurants in Colombia
Carmen Restaurant has been one of my favorite restaurants in Colombia as long as I can remember. I met Carmen and Rob in Medellin 8 years ago and fell in love with them as amazing human beings, their ridiculous talent and in my eyes being pioneers in exhibiting Colombian ingredients to a whole another level. Yet I had never been to their Cartagena restaurant where Chef Felipe Trujillo is at the helm and what a treat this was. Wow, wow, wow. These guys are absolutely crushing it taking it to another level and a complete different experience. The restaurant is in a magical beautiful historic house with a spectacular hundred year old tree in the center of it. The kitchen was absolutely beautiful as well. The restaurant was split up into three parts, an airconditioned more upscale, an outside a bit more casual and a smaller restaurant with a fixed menu experience called Sala 23 Thanks guys again for making this day special!
