In this episode we explore some things to do in Bogota, Colombia. We visit the Casa De Moneda and explore their fabulous coin collection. And we also visit the former house of Simon Bolivar, which has been turned into a museum by the Colombian Government. Bogota is a vibrant, colorful, and energetic city with lots of things to do. This is only to give you a starting point when thinking about things to do in Bogota.
Travel and transportation in Bogota is very easy. We recommend taking a taxi in Bogota rather than renting a car. Renting a car would only be a good thing if you plan to travel outside of the city. Bogotá, la capital de Colombia, es uno de los principales destinos turísticos del país, cuenta con diversas actividades culturales y es sede de importantes eventos de nivel internacional.
La ciudad también ofrece una amplia variedad de restaurantes, museos, parques, centros comerciales y una arquitectura que maravillará a cualquier visitante.
Museo del Oro
El museo mas famoso de Bogotá y uno de los más fascinantes de América del Sur, el Museo del Oro contiene más de 55.000 piezas de oro y otros materiales de todas las principales culturas prehispánicas de Colombia.
Museo Botero
El Museo Botero fue fundado en el año 2000 gracias a una donación del artista Fernando Botero al Banco de la República.
Está ubicado en el centro histórico de Bogotá, en una casona colonial restaurada y adecuada por el Banco de la República.
Cerro Monserrate
En la punta del cerro de Monserrate se encuentra el Santuario del Señor caído de Monserrate, inaugurada en 1920, es el símbolo por excelencia de Bogotá, es un lugar de peregrinación de nacionales y extranjeros, rodeado de una amplia vegetación y desde donde se aprecia el mejor paisaje de la capital.
Ya sea que quieras experimentar subir a la punta a 3,172 metros sobre el nivel de mar por fe, deporte o la increíble vista, el recorrido será toda una experiencia.
Iglesia de San Francisco
La iglesia de San Francisco hace parte de la historia de Bogotá por ello es un sitio turístico de visita obligada, desde 1794 a la fecha mantiene la misma estructura arquitectónica.
Plaza de Bolivar
Lo que anteriormente fue una gran plaza de mercado, un centro de espectáculos circenses y un terreno destinado a las corridas de toros, se convirtió en un homenaje al hombre que marcó la vida de una nación al darle autonomía y libertad.
La Candelaria
La mayoría de las construcciones en el barrio de La Candelaria tienen un estilo colonial y republicano que se conservan a través de los años y han sido declaradas bienes de interés histórico y cultural.
Museo Nacional
Ubicado en el edificio de El Panóptico, que fue diseñado originalmente como prisión por el arquitecto inglés Thomas Reed en 1874.
El Museo Nacional explora el pasado de Colombia a través de la arqueología, la historia y el arte. La colección se distribuye en 17 galerías que finalmente serán distribuidas por piso, cuando el museo termine su modernización que durará hasta 2023.
Restaurante Andrés Carne de Res
El famosísimo restaurante, inaugurado hace más de 30 años por Andrés Jaramillo. Empezó como un restaurante como cualquier otro en Chía, a media hora del centro de Bogotá, pero con los años se ha hecho mundialmente famoso no solo por su comida, si no por el ambiente que se vive.

In this Colombia Travel Vlog we are taking you to Getsemani, a very colorful and historic neighborhood in Cartagena, Colombia as well as on a day trip to San Basilio de Palenque, the first free town in the Americas for Africans. During the colonial period in Cartagena, Getsemani was where the displaced indigenous and enslaved Africans were placed. San Basilio de Palenque, shortened Palenque, is a town where many Africans fled Cartagena in search of their freedom which was granted to them in 1713. While Cartagena receives many tourists throughout the year not many take the time to learn about the real history here so we hope this travel video teaches you a bit about what really happened so when you travel to Cartagena you can better understand Getsemani and Palenque, Colombia.

In this episode we will show you the best way to get money (currency) when you travel to Colombia. When you are on vacation, the last thing you want to worry about is having enough local currency to do all of the fun things you want to do. Our goal is to help you to get the local currency at the best price without paying crazy fees.
$3.00 U.S. Dollars for 2 People To Eat Lunch IS Normal. Food and beer is generally very cheap if you eat like a local. We also aim to give you an idea of what common items cost in the country. Colombia is a fantastic destination for vacation, expats, and extended vacations or sabbaticals. The U.S. dollar generally goes a long way if you stick to local activities.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: ATM's CLOSE IN COLOMBIA. EVERY ATM & BANK HAS DIFFERENT HOURS. IF YOU WILL ARRIVE IN THE COUNTRY VERY LATE OR VERY EARLY, I SUGGEST YOU BRING A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR SOME FOOD AND A TAXI. AROUND $100,000 COP (COLOMBIAN PESOS). REMEMBER, THE EXCHANGE RATE CHANGES DAILY. BE SURE TO CHECK THE EXCHANGE RATE WITH YOUR HOME CURRENCY BEFORE WITHDRAWING MONEY.
