Duncan Town, Ragged Island, The Bahamas: A visit with Maxine

Duncan Town is the only settlement in the entire Ragged Island chain and is situated within a bay of shallow water. The island contains a small airstrip, a harbor, a lighthouse, and -- most importantly — Maxine Grocery. A 30 minute dinghy ride from Hog Cay, introduces us to the tiny and delightfully welcoming community, where there's always a good fishing story and goats outnumber people.

Stunning St. Andrew’s: 730-Acre Island in the Bahamas Lists for $17M

Private islands in and around the Gulf of Mexico have become a popular investment for the world’s elite over the past few years. These secluded sanctuaries are especially coveted among those who want to enjoy their time off in the region’s equatorial warmth so that they can shut out the demands of both work and life. Now, for $17M, one fortunate buyer can purchase St. Andrew’s Island—also known as “Little Ragged Island”—in the Bahamas, carving out a quiet paradise for themselves amidst the Caribbean’s pure blue waves and white sand beaches. Spanning 730-acres, this massive isle could easily be developed into a resort-like getaway, spacious enough for golf courses, beach houses, and even an airplane landing strip.

STUCK ABOARD for 5 days ????⚓⛵ GALES in the Bahamas! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 274

What do you do stuck onboard for 5 days as your house is beaten by the wind and waves? As sailors we live and die by the weather. Every morning wake up, make some coffee, then check the weather. Sometimes the forecast is nice and we can stay put, but sometimes we gotta move our house to somewhere with better protection. In this episode we decide to move Delos to a new island to seek better protection. We have a fantastic sail set the hook, and begin exploring the amazing uninhabited island of Buena Vista in the remote Ragged Islands of the Bahamas. Soon the wind starts to kick up and we get pinned onboard for 5 days of terrible wind and weather!

Sending much love to everyone out there. XXOO- Brian, Kazza, and The Little Nugget

We Loved Spanish Wells Bahamas - But it is a little funky (Ep 10)

We Loved Spanish Wells Bahamas!

My folks wanted to come visit us on the boat in the Bahamas so we thought Spanish Wells seemed liked a good place to visit with them. We spent about a month, perhaps more, at Spanish Wells. Again, we were also working for a good part of that time so while this seems like a long time, once you take out 5 days a week of working, it's wasn't really that long.

We decided against taking the boat to Harbour Island through the Devil's Backbone in fear of all we read online...in the end, after speaking with a bunch of fellow cruisers, it seems to be much less of a challenge than we read. Maybe next time.

We Loved Spanish Wells, but it is a little funky. Everybody is really nice...apparently, it's such a small tight-knit community that everybody knows everybody else and that crime is pretty much non-existent. The large grocery store, Spanish Wells Food Fair Limited, is very well stocked and you can find pretty much anything you need. But, like everything in the Bahamas, it can be very expensive as compared with the mainland USA.

Buddas Snack Shack, Wreckers, The Sandbar Bar & Grill and The Shipyard didn't disappoint.

Thank you for watching.

Scuba Diving: Sharks and Wrecks in Nassau Bahamas! @AdventuresWithDuncan

Short review of my scuba dives with Stewart coves in Nassau, Bahamas. We did a two tank dive: the first dive at the Heineken reef, and the second dive at the Ray of Hope wreck. Very overall organized, if not a little crowded on the dive boat. Great safe dives, and plenty of reef, sharks, nurse, sharks, and lionfish. Water temp about 80 degrees F. Camera used was a GoPro Hero 11 black with deep underwater housing, and backscatter under water filters.
