PROS and CONS of living in Manchester

What are the pros and cons of living in Manchester? Although Manchester might not be the first city that comes to mind when thinking about relocating to the United Kingdom, the city is rapidly developing into a popular destination for people from the United Kingdom as well as those from other countries who are looking to begin a new chapter in their lives.
Living in a metropolis, just like living in any other city in the globe, comes with its share of benefits as well as drawbacks. The following is a list of some of the most important pros and cons with relocating to Manchester that should be considered before making a final choice.
PROS:
1. Rent is affordable
In comparison to that of London, the price of living in Manchester is 32 percent lower. Rather of immediately purchasing a home in the neighborhood of their choice, many individuals first test the market by renting a home there. This is something to consider doing since the location could not be to your taste or live up to the standards you have set for it. Many people are able to live in a highly desired location that they otherwise may not be able to afford to live in because of the availability of rental housing in that location. And a growing number of individuals are coming to the realization that renting a house rather than purchasing a property may make more financial sense for them.
Living in Manchester, there is a variety of housing available to suit the needs of expats looking for either a contemporary apartment in the heart of the city or a cozy family house in the surrounding suburbs. In recent years, Manchester has experienced an increase in the number of new property projects, which means that there is little question that new newcomers will find a home that is suited for them. This is because Manchester is trying to accommodate the city's rising population.
Moving to Manchester will definitely provide you more house for your money than many areas in the south of England, and the city has a better work-life balance than the majority of other cities in the United Kingdom. Because the overall cost of living in Manchester is lower than in a lot of areas in the south, Manchester provides excellent value for money as a location for your new house because it is less expensive. Due to the neighborhood's high demand and limited supply, apartment rents in the Northern Quarter are often the highest in the city. Those who are ready to live farther out in the city and make use of the city's outstanding public transport networks will definitely save money on rent, which means they will have more money available in their budget to spend on other things, such as entertainment or other charges.
2. Good public transport
The public transportation while you’re living in Manchester is among the best in the country. In addition, there is a tram service that operates quite effectively and often, as well as a free shuttle bus that provides service to the retail center as well as the major rail terminals. The M60, M62, and M6 freeways can all be reached without any difficulty. There are four main railway stations in Manchester, which provide connections to every significant city within the UK. Additionally, the Manchester International Airport is located around 17 kilometers (12 miles) outside of the city.

3. Lots of job opportunities
If you have experience in a variety of fields, such as finance, law, biotechnology, or digital media, you will discover fantastic prospects if you want to work while living in Manchester. Manchester is a metropolitan region that is quite active, and because of this, you will find wonderful opportunities here. The work market in Manchester is also significantly less competitive than the job market in London, making Manchester the ideal location for people who are just starting out in their careers.

Places to see in ( Denton - UK )

Places to see in ( Denton - UK )

Denton is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside, Greater Manchester, England, five miles east of Manchester city centre. Historically part of Lancashire, it had a population of 36,591 at the 2011 Census. Denton probably derives its name from Dane-town, an etymology supported by other place names in the area such as Danehead-bank and Daneditch-bourne. The word 'Dane' is itself derived from Anglo-Saxon denu, dene, daenland, meaning a valley. So literally Denton means valley town.

There is one main war memorial, or cenotaph, in Denton, located in Victoria Park. This memorial commemorates people from Denton and Haughton who served in two world wars. The names on the war memorial were collected from their relatives who wrote to the council with details of their loved ones who served in either war. The war memorial was unveiled on 23 July 1921. Figures from the Denton section of the Tameside council website, state that 3,500 Denton men served in the Great War (1914–1918), of that number, 369 people were killed.

The oldest church in Denton is St. Lawrence's. It is almost 500 years old, originally built in 1531. It is a listed Grade II* building. The church is also known locally as Th'owd Peg (the old peg) due to the fact, as a timber-framed building, it was constructed with wooden pegs rather than nails. It is more commonly known as the black and white church, because of its appearance. A local myth is also said to have a pirate buried within its grounds because of a grave stone marked with a skull and crossbones at its front door. In a more thorough investigation and article printed by Denton Local History Society (1995), it was found that the gravestone was actually a masonic gravestone belonging to a deceased Soldier named Samuel Bromley from the Royal Artillery. The magnificent Victorian St Anne's Church, Haughton, is a Grade I listed building, and is built in the Gothic Revival style.

One of Denton's claims to fame is that, along with Reddish South, it has the UK's least frequent train service, every Friday, in one direction, from Stockport to Stalybridge. There are bus links to Manchester city centre, Hyde, Ashton-under-Lyne and Stockport operated by Stagecoach. The M67 Denton Relief Road motorway was constructed, running east to west through Denton, between 1978 and 1981. Originally this was planned to be part of a motorway running from central Manchester to Sheffield. At its western end the M67 connects with the M60 Manchester Ring Road.

( Denton - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Denton . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Denton - UK

map of North West England

North West England is one of the best and most popular of nine official regions of England and consists of the administrative counties of #1 ranked Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. The North West had a population of 7,052,000 in 2011. It is the third-most-populated region in the United Kingdom, after the South East and Greater London. The largest settlements are Manchester and Liverpool. North West England is bounded to the east by the Pennines and to the west by the Irish Sea. The region extends from the Scottish Borders in the north to the West Midlands region in the south. To its southwest is North Wales. Amongst the better known of the North West's physiographical features are the Lake District and the Cheshire Plain. The highest point in North West England (and the highest peak in England) is Scafell Pike, Cumbria, at a height of 3,209 feet (978 m).

Windermere is the largest natural lake in England, while Broad Crag Tarn on Broad Crag is England's highest lake. Wast Water is England's deepest lake, being 74 metres deep.

A mix of rural and urban landscape, two large conurbations, centred on Liverpool and Manchester, occupy much of the south of the region. The north of the region, comprising Cumbria and northern Lancashire, is largely rural, as is the far south which encompasses parts of the Cheshire Plain and Peak District.

The region includes parts of three National parks (all of the Lake District, and small parts of the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales) and three areas of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (all of Arnside and Silverdale and the Solway Coast, and almost all of the Forest of Bowland The North West is generally regarded as having the most average weather in the UK. Temperatures are generally close to the national average. Cumbria usually experiences the most severe weather, with high precipitation in the mountainous regions of the Lake District and Pennines. In winter, the most severe weather occurs in the more exposed and elevated areas of the North West, once again mainly the Lake District and Pennine areas.

Parts of the North West experienced a White Christmas in 2009, and again in 2010, where sleet and snow fell on December 25.

The A635 was closed for almost a month in January 2010 due to high amounts of snowfall.

Visiting All Manchester Metrolink Tram Stops

There are 99 stops on the Manchester Metrolink network stretching out as far as Bury and Rochdale, as well as running through the heart of Manchester. But how long does it take to travel the entire system? So I asked my local 'Northern Correspondent' to accompany me on the trip of doing just that - riding the entire tram network!

Note: We got a taxi between Manchester Airport/Altrincham, and again between Trafford Centre/Eccles - if you were doing this using 'pure' Tube Challenge rules, you would stick to public transport only - i.e. use buses to make those connections .... which wouldn't be as fast.

If you want a copy of my Manchester Metrolink map, it's available here on my Downloads page:

Driving from Manchester to Thornton-Cleveleys & Blackpool then back to Droylsden, Manchester. 4k

I had to go to Thornton-Cleveleys to do some work for a customer, right on the sea front, what a lovely place it is. After I finished work I drove to Blackpool in the hope I could fly the drone in some secluded area, but it was very windy, so I just headed back home. Maybe next time I will manage to fly? :)

Places to see in ( Manchester - UK ) Etihad Stadium

The City of Manchester Stadium in Manchester, England, also known as the Etihad Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is the home ground of Manchester City Football Club and, with a domestic football capacity of 55,097, the fourth-largest in the Premier League and eighth-largest in the United Kingdom.

When planning the development, Manchester City Council required a sustainable landmark structure that would be an icon for the regeneration of the once heavily industrialised site surrounding Bradford Colliery, as well as providing spectators with good sightlines in an atmospheric arena.

The stadium is 2.5 km east of Manchester city centre. Manchester Piccadilly railway station, which serves mainline trains. It is a 20-minute walk away along a well-lit signposted route that is supervised by stewards close to the ground. Piccadilly station also has a Metrolink tram stop (in the undercroft); from which regular trams along the East Manchester Line to Ashton-under-Lyne serve the stadium and Etihad Campus, with enhanced service frequencies and doubled tram units on matchdays. The Etihad Campus tram stop close to Joe Mercer Way to the immediate north of the stadium opened in February 2013, and handles several thousand travellers each matchday; spectators travelling by tram from Manchester city centre being able to board services at Piccadilly Gardens, the journey taking approximately 10 minutes.

Manchester City F.C. agreed to lease the stadium from Manchester City Council and moved there from Maine Road in the summer of 2003. The stadium was built by Laing Construction at a cost of £112 million and was designed and engineered by ArupSport, whose design incorporated a cable-stayed roof structure, suspended by twelve exterior masts and attached cables.

AFRO-CARIBBEAN at Tortuga, Droylsden, Tameside, Greater Manchester

Read good reviews about this joint so decided to visit for a later lunch one weekend for their set lunch. Service was very good (there was a 10% service charge and unexplained £1 surcharge on the bill) and food wasn't bad. We ordered the prawns and chicken goujons for starters, and the jerk chicken and sea bass as mains (the prawns and sea bass each added £1 to the set menu price). The sea bass was by far our favourite dish - it was cooked to perfection and definitely worth a try!
